Once there was an amazing dog called Fatboy. We made our amazing self build camper so that we could have adventures together. Unfortunatly, Fatboy passed away, but the adventures continue in his honour. We hope you can join us on our travels.
I suppose at some point in the past Brit Stops was rather unique in that it provided information before the more wide spread use of the internet. Now I am not sure why you would want to subscribe as the information is out there for free. I get the bit about liking the idea of a book, I am the same, but its a bit old fashioned now. I suppose in the social media age Brit Stops could only survive if they had exclusive rights to the stopping places? I imagine you are in a minority of people who don't want access to the internet when you are away? The world changes, far too fast for some of us! Hopefully you can still find places you like to stop at and enjoy.
There are several apps offering the same thing now, and most of the locations aren’t specific to Britstops, so why pay is my point. I just liked the book, as did many others. But the world changes:)
Hi, I got my flares from a guy in Leeds. Sorry I can't remember his name. You want to go large with these. Mine give 6'6 down to 6'3 with some dodo insulation and carpeting. But at 6'2 it works great for me. You just need to have the bed high enough. I used the scorva beams from Ikea and riveted them to the van. If its just you you can sleep diagonally easily. With company you will need the bigger flares:)
It was really enjoyable. All the people who joined in were laughing and having fun. I’ve even had people say since that even though they didn’t take part they enjoyed watching it.
Hello! Me and my friend were hiking around 18:29 when you were doing the drone footage. We aren't in the footage that you posted, but I don't suppose you have that footage and can share with with me? If you caught us and you still have it! I subscribe to your channel as soon as I saw your Van in the car park haha. Great vids!
Hi, really sorry but I have deleted the footage now and only have what you see in the video. Thank you for subscribing, we appreciate it and will hopefully bump into you out and about in the future.
Yes, there’s the overlander show at Stratford this weekend. A Halloween event at Shrewsbury and a few group meet-ups such as the South West self build group and the Another vanlife group. There’s still a lot going on.
This is the first video of yours that I have seen in my recommendations for what seems like ages. Nice flag. I assume you will be mounting it on a pole on your van for the next van festival. Do you know if there are any in the north of England in the next few months? Cheers!
Haven’t put one up for a few weeks. The flag will go on the pole at festivals. Our next one is Vanlife Eats. Are you there? Not sure what is is happening up north. There is the last Overlander show coming up.
Great job explaining all the details of using this product. The van does look great and I'm sure you are proud of the look. Yes, it could use another coat of the green but it might have been fine if you had put a cheap primer down first to have a uniformly colored base to cover. I am about to paint a teardrop style camper I built from scratch. This is my first time attempting a vehicle paint job and I have decided to roll it on also while painting inside my air conditioned garage as it is 90-100 degrees farenheit outside here in Texas this time of year. Wish me luck!
@@TheadventuresofFatboy It turned out really nice. I bought a kit of 6 liters that included a green tint to be mixed in. After applying that I decided it was too dark and so I found a custom auto paint supplier who mixed a custom color for me. I used the textured roller for the first (dark) coat so I decided to use a smooth roller for the lighter coats and that worked great.
We added two rape alarms. One works on the awning zipper pull it up out goes pin IF you are a deep sleeper the SECOND one is on the interior of the van door. If forced open it pulls pin so then you have two going off. Trust me I'm partially deaf in both ears and even I get woken up as we did a practise run one night whilst on a fishing trip. I went back to the van got changed climbed into our bed fell asleep to be woken by Mr looney tunes attempting to gain entry. Weapons in the van nah just me with my hand with some skin on it and oh yeah a plastic floppy spatula. Yep I have used a preemptive strike as I was in fear for my safety. You forgot that we'll known evil and dastardly hairdressers comb yes one of my course trainers got a pile of items out for us to pick out a weapon. Lol I was sat on the desk smirking he looked at me scowling and said OK clever clogs you pick one. I replied all of them and I got a ribbing but I was right no-one else had thought about the comb. Plastic head with teeth but long metal handle.
i used herculiner for my running boards and bumpers--- herculiner is some thicck stuff and still needed two coats for full coverage and i added two more coats its worth the added expense for more coats.ill be raptor linimng the top part ..
The only way to sort those lower body panel seam joints is to pull the sealant out, then you can properly get into it. Whatever you have to do to get it all clean then work from there. Those lower panels can move against each other a tiny bit, they’re not very well supported. If you can be bothered it’s a good move to spray the reverse side of them inside the sill cavities with a decent creeping wax like Dinitrol ML. Your technique is what made it a turn out good job
That’s some great advice. Thank you for sharing. There’s been some great comments from people on this video, and I would definitely do some things differently next time.
Random question but what size are your tyres please? I bought some 235/85/16's but not tried them on yet I got a set of 5 for £150 n thought worse case I can sell them for a profit but yours look massive which has given me hope 😅😂
Hi, they are BF Goodrich all terrains KO2 245/75/R16 on standard Sprinter wheels. They did rub a little bit on full lock for a few weeks but I was ok with that. They are fine now.
I don't have any issue with the people on Parrys Lane and round the Circular Road. Most of them have been there all winter with minimal impact in terms of rubbish or noise. Last couple of months a new group have parked up on the grass south east of Ladies Mile and they have made a mess of it with used toilet roll and plastic and so on in a lot of places as well as firepits. As I understand it the laws aren't easy to use to move them on but at least the council could arrange with them to collect rubbish like it does with every other household and business in the city.
