Hi, I started this channel to share my love of reloading and shooting. My goal over all is to find the perfect load for each of my guns and to share my experience with you guys. Although I would love feedback and ideas of what you would like to see or be interested in. I plan to release at least one video a week. So please Subscribe and like and feel free to share. Thanks questforperfectload@gmail.com
Africa!!! What a trip that will be for you! I've been a devout 22-250 fan for 30 years but the 22 creedmoor is really looking great to me. Lots of advantages to the new cartridges! Hope you have a wonderful trip!!
Something to keep in mind: I’ve worked on over a dozen Axis rifles and EVERY single one that had the old 6-48 threads for the receiver had one or more 6-48 screws that were NOT tight that wouldn’t be necessarily be obvious without removing the scope/rings and checking. The newer Axis w/8-40 screws have a red patch, but I would still clean the oil out of the the receiver threads and retighten. The new bases are steel, BUT have heavy burrs that need to be filed off with a hand file. The newest rifles also have heavier firing pin springs. These are great rifles, IMHO.
I’ve been reloading for 270win for a while now. My latest 270 is a rem model 700 with a 22” #1 contour factory barrel. It loves 140 gr accubonds with 58gr H4831sc seated at .005 off lands @ 2900fps. Recently started loading the 150gr ABLR, it’s been very fussy but after a lot of messing around I finally found it likes 52gr staball 6.5. with a lot of jump, it’s seated at the book coal 3.340” @2780 fps.
Can you show what your groups looking like with that Hornady ammo, mine was doing 6.5' to 8' groups and went back 3 months ago and i still don't have it back. Hornady wants a 1:7 twist if you read the box
With long, straight walled cases like the 45-70, flaring the case mouth is crucial to prevent the bullet from going in at an angle and deforming the case. Good video.
