My popcorn was dry on the outside before steam sterilization.(steam pot sterilized because I don’t have a pressure cooker) now a day later after cooling I see some droplets quite a few ….. is that normal ?
Sounds like you're adding too much of whatever you're using in syringes. If you're grain is sterilized properly and you let it sit a week before inoculation I can't see any other reason why you get contam when going to grain instead of agar first.
Man this vid is exactly what I needed at my stage of the learning process. Watched tons of theoretical stuff, but tripDaddy's hands on practical videos are something else. Btw this vest is very cool to look at when you're slightly tripping!
Mushrooms are wayyyyyyy harder than growing herb. Now cloning herb from a mother plant gets complicated, especially if you have a problem, but mushrooms are bunches of problems waiting to happen.
Hey, I'm a Bobby too. Agree on the product-trying time angle. I suppose once I have things dialed in, mycology will be easier; once you find what works in your climate. I'm teaching myself how to do it. I'm in low humidity, high altitude. When I started my first try, it was indian summer, warm to where you open all your windows, and I got a mediocre flush, ( not enough humidity) then it got cold fast, and everything went wonky, things just stalled and most got contaminated. I know now, what was wrong, but not a couple months ago. So now I have to experiment with a grow tent and heaters, and humidifiers instead of just misting, my flushes are wanting so more dial in. Maybe it's just a harder learning curve. With herb, everything just made sense and it was easy, especially outdoors. My neighbors plants were about 5 foot tall, mine were 9 feet. @@bobbobby2978
Well they are totally different in the fact that growing herb is very hands on and methodical. Mush cultivation all comes down to the beginning practice and just providing the right environment so they have a place to do what they do naturally. We don’t grow mushrooms, we just give them a place to grow. Mush luv.
Cool way to view it. I'm about four months into this and I suppose I'm getting closer to dialing it in, but the mushes still aren't too happy with the apartment I gave them to grow. I guess I gotta spring for a house. I understand what you're saying. By beginning practice, do you mean the sanitation and grain prep part? I'm getting small numbered harvest, but they are getting slightly better. I'd like to see the video people, tell the part of country they're in. I'm in dry desert but high altitude. I might be taking wrong advice for my environment. I ordered more books. I like the trial and error testing; gives me something to do. @@phillypharmer
I like your unedited vids, no flashy stuff, no music, just like when you do it at home! Nice point too on doing both, following instructions from those who now best, and then doing your own thing experimenting. Thanks for sharing!
So at 11:29 you say you cracked the top of your pressure cooker and need to JB weld it? Is it cracked from adding weight to the weight or removing the weight when they say not too or putting it on when they say not too. Haha, man I'd be careful bro, you trying make your wife a widow? Love the videos but be careful, you can't make videos in the hospital or worse.
I just wanted to check in with you and see if your still doing the grows. I hope this finds you and your family healthy and happy. If i can get someone to drop me off near the place i used to find them in houston i will make some spore prints. And i would be happy to send you some if you wanted them. I have to hop a barbed wire fence and try not to get busted coming out. The law is redneck as hell in Texas. They shoot first and then yell stop! Plus i am 64 but willing to try.
I am a new sub. I am binge watching your vids. I grew mushrooms back in the 1977 when i was in high school living in Illinois. I just kept the same mycelium growing and inoculated my jars of brown rice to keep it going every month. I was never taught how to do the spore prints. I was given a jar of mycelium and a paper telling me how to prepare the rice and jars. Then the guy went to prison and i never seen him again. I live in Houston Texas now and i can find them sometimes in the wild. The last time i went hunting them was in the late 80's and they were vary strong. The ones i grew would vary in size up to 15 inches long. And as the jars got older they got smaller. I remember taking notes as i grew them and for some reason the ones i inoculated on the full moon would produce big ones and full jars. I would just take the lids off and put gallon size bags loosely over the jars and they would grow right out of the jars. My jars would only be 1/3 full of rice. I would try and keep everything clean but not near as good as you. I did have good success averaging 2 or 3 jars out of 30 would get contaminated. Keep in mind i had vary little knowledge to work with on the subject back then. No Google to check...lol I remember where i used to find them in the pine trees and pastures. They were strong. I am 63 and plan to start micro dosing because i have real bad depression that i have suffered with for many years. I dont like medications because i got addicted to zanax for 20 years. I dont have much income so i will be starting off small. I love the way you take the time to explain why you do everything. And you correct yourself when you need to. I will talk forever so i better get off here. Thank you so much for all the info i have gained.
Trip, great job. I mixed up the substrate as per your instructions I'm wondering since I only used a little of it and the rest is it still in the bucket do I need to pasteurize again? What's left in the bucket I mean for my next project?
Dude I like your style. You answer questions before they're even asked. Very informative, took my first spore print yesterday and I'm ready to go with this. ~Aussie Sub Hunter but not for much longer 👍
I would never allow flies to ever be in the tubs since they love to be on dead and rotting things and trash and so many more thibgs that are breeding grounds for bacteria and all types of bad micro organisms.
You just answered my concerns about all the fruit flies I am anticipating arriving soon, as they do every summer. thanks for the great tip!!!Getting ready for my first transfer to bulk.
The flies here get me sick. You can't even open your door without 10 of them making it in the door before you. Pour pinesol all over outside, it helps a lil. They don't like the smell. I bought a fogger machine for this year. I'm hitting my whole property up.
There’s an old country store here in Tallahassee (Bradley’s) that has a meat area in the back. They keep the flies out like this: they take a clear plastic bag fill it with a water/vinegar solution and drop two pennies in it. They tie the top of the bag with a string and hang it in front of the door. For some reason, the flies don’t try to come in the door although it’s constantly being opened. Someone who works there told me when I asked about it that the two coins look like huge spider’s eyes to the flies so they avoid the area. Not sure if that part is true or not but it keeps the flies out of that store. Hope this helps!
