The Y-DER (wider) channel is about all things Can-Am Spyder. Here you can follow the adventures of owning, riding, repairing, and maintaining the Spyder. Our first series is kind of an amateur, shade-tree, DIY mechanic repair of a dead 2016 Spyder RT Limited.
The Y-DER Channel is a product of Bright Owl Media, LLC.
That was a strange question about the right age .for me it was when was the right time.i had a few bikes in my life but for me it was when my wife said i will never ride with you unless you get something I can ride and hold up and feel safe and is easy to learn .so i got the cam am RT limited and we ride all the time.i don't have any health problems that I know of.if I would have known 10 years ago about the Spyder I would have gotten one.i just think they are really safe, nice looking Three wheelers also the wife and I have never like Harley's two wheeler or 3 wheelers and I don't care for the gold wing trike I really believe the Can-Am Spyder are just more safer and better priced for what you get and I love the total reverse gear .Im not knocking the other 3 wheelers and I ride with them at time but for us it's just our preference.we just love to ride regardless of your bike choice.
Is that a DJI mic I see you using? I went with the DJI Mic 2 and some other pieces to mount the receiver right there on the side of the X4. Still playing with it all, noise cancellation, in full-face helmet vs when have half helmet on, etc...
It is the original DJI Mic with a Shure MVL Lapel Mic run up into the helmet. I use the onboard recorder in it and merge the audio in post. I'm sure the half helmet is a struggle...
Speaking of soaked, I was riding home a week ago from a dentist appointment and got caught in a thunderstorm. I had a full-face helmet and a rain TOP on but not my bottoms. When I got home and took off my boots, I literally poured probably a cup of water out of them! I should have put my rain bottoms on but was being stubborn. Ride safe!
Now that I have the rain gear, the rain has been avoiding me. I rode between two storm systems a few days ago and didn't get a drop. I sure was hot in that rain gear, but I was prepared. lol Ride Safe as well!
This circuit is fused in the "right" fuse box where you can move it to either constant or switched power by using #6 or #7. It is a 5 Amp fuse. You didn't miss it. I didn't know where it was until after.
Looks like it kept off rain for you and good to see the ride out with like minded Spyder friends. I know you said you are considering an F3 that is the one I intend to go for in the future.
Very Cool Brother ... I wish I was there riding with you! The F3 is more like a Naked Sports Bike ... I Absolutely love mine especially because it has the Manual Gearbox just like a Traditional Motorcycle plus I don't have a Big Windshield just a Gauge Bikini which makes it even Sportier Ryde Safe Mate 👍😎🤙
I also enjoy group ryding. It's always nice to share all things Spyder with like-minded riders. You get to meet new and wonderful people and make some new friends. The only thing that sometimes irritates me is that group rides don't often stop along the way for beautiful scenery or to allow a stretch stop or a water stop inhot weather. I suppose it is easier to stop when you're only 2 or 3 Spyders than a group of 25 or 30. But still, riding for me is all about the journey. I am thrilled to attend my first ever Spyder rally this September, SpyderQuest in Lake George NY, should be a great time to meet other riders. And thank you for finding Spyder Wayne's deer😉 Cheers!
Thank you @SpyderRichard. I will be officiating 2 weddings in September, otherwise I would be joining you for SpyderQuest. I'm looking forward to planning some big trips next year (hopefully on the next project Spyder if I can find one)
Nice video and good editing x3 did good I love to meet other riders at event , but i am not a big with group rides. I usually meet them but only occasional ride with them. I like to ride in smaller group ( 2 to 3 max) I usually ride with my friend that has an HD , yep with the ryker , but my new muffler system sound like him !!!!!!! I will ride tomorrow as it will be a nice day .. But I see that you are wearing your road rash equipment ( oops) Question : do you ride in single file during your rides , I am looking this week at a F3 2017 manual Daytona ( yep Yellow) as a longer ride bike , but I keeping my Ryker also ..... Alain & Yellow
Thank you! It is a bit of learning curve. I had to start somewhere. Hopefully I can get it away from the windshield or replace the windshield before the next video.
Great video ! I have a 2020 Spyder and was thinking about getting this unit . I have two questions. What do you think about the size of the 7-in screen I was thinking about the 5-in screen? Also how do you get your music to play through your spyders speakers? Thanks in advance appreciate the video.
I think the 7” screen is perfect on the 2016. I use a device called a Tunai Firefly I bought on Amazon since my radio does not have built in Bluetooth. I’m not sure if that’s needed on the 2020. I have an update video that has links for the Firefly.
Man, I wish my Spyder said 89 degrees. Mine said 113 the other day. It was only 107 in reality. Just isn't real fun when it feels like you are riding in an air fryer. Have fun!
UGH - my '18 Spyder RT Limited now has a misfire on cyl 1. Runs rough and goes into limp mode. Mine only has 4,000 miles on it so I'm THINKING it should be simple - but watching this progress just makes me cringe as to how bad it could be! Love the channel!
UGH is right! Sounds like the first thing to check is the spark plug and the coil. That is no easy task, let me tell you... I always enjoy the comments section. It lets me know that I may have somehow helped. Thank you for watching.
What a great refinish job on the paintwork, it looks amazing! You mentioned an older Spyder F3 2016 with low milage. I have noticed a few like this of recent and can't help wonder why the milage is so low for the year?
Seems like your RT Ltd just became a 2024 model! Mine is a 2023 and I have a USB-A and Stereo plug in the glove compartment. USB provides power - s l o w charger, probably 1Ah. I use my FIIO M11 with 1 TB of available music in full lossless FLAC Stereo & the crushed style MP3 through the Spyders Stereo or my Cardo. Does your model year not offer these inputs? I know the trunk powers faster and has a light. Never looked for an audio connection. I listen for map turn by turn via Google Maps but admittedly, I cannot see them so this system has a big + there. I hope Android Auto has had serious upgrades. In my van I just couldn't shut the darn thing off! Made me nuts so I had to disable or remove. I forget which.
There is an audio and USB in the rear trunk. I use a Firefly to bluetooth the CarPlay into the onboard radio via the Aux port. Mine is better than a 2024 because my CarPlay actually works...
@Y-DER I checked my 2023. In the trunk are 2 USB-A plugs covered by a rubber plug. There's a light next to it. The only audio plug i can find in the 2023 is in the glove box.
Fun stuff! Dave did a great job! I went back and forth looking at the saddlebags and wheel fenders on your trip out to Dave's and, later, after he did his magic...what a transformation! Cheers to the Phoenix.
Dave did an Awesome job Adam ... It looks like it's been repainted! I used a Flame on my Sea-Doo Spark Hull it's Polyethylene ... Brings it up like new! I love the name Phoenix very appropriately named ... I remember the movie Flight of the Phoenix with Jimmy Stewart Brilliant movie Cheers brother 👍😎👊
You can crawl out the front of the helmet with a knife and then smooth it with A leather baseball to buff off the rough edges because my helmet has like a styrofoam so I just carved out a little indention in the front and then I smoothed it with a leather ball
Thank you. I have done a little carving on this one since the video. Though it fits a little better, I still think I’m going to replace it with a better brain bucket.
We try not to dwell on our hearts too much. Because we try to go ahead and appreciate every day that we live after that. True, life is a Is blessing Thank God that we have extra days to look forward to I have 7 Stance. Still pull a trailer behind my motorcycle. Camper. That's a goldwing 1995se Traded for a RT limited spider. 2021. I'm 68. The bike was getting a little heavy with the trailer. And the wife. Well, it's easier with the Can-am
Nice device. I gotta say, I still love my Garmin because I can create EXACT routes (.kmz files) that I want and load them into the Garmin. I got too aggravated with my routes changing after I 'sent to my phone' with the other nav providers/options.
