Going back to Ballater near Balmoral for our annual 2-week holiday in less than a month 😍. Would love to bring my manual F-type V6 with me. Why did you not drive yours up there?
Hey Ryan, thanks for giving XCP Rust Blocker CLEAR COAT a try. We've actually just launched a new and improved formula, with even longer lasting protection. We would probably also recommend XCP Rust Blocker Original (the orange can) for subframe and suspension applications. Would be great to catch up with you some time to talk through the products!
Fantastic and thank you for the advice. I’d be happy to catch up with you as have enjoyed using your products and would be keen to see what you have on offer now.
Yeah, can’t complain! Though when you have a garage like this, you very quickly want a double because it barely fits one car in 😬 might need to get a smart car next 😄
What a great trip and video! It looks like Zorro had a good time too 😊 I loved the ducks at near the end of the video. They demolished the bird seed! 😂
I’ve only had it for a few months still and only driven it a few thousand miles but it’s been great. It’s done 80k miles and was one of the lower priced f types for sale when I bought it. But it’s great. The service history is with reputable garages and has cost previous owners on average less than £1000 a year for all services, repairs and ‘upgrades’ such as ceramic coat, powder coating wheels etc etc. So in 10 years and 80k miles, around 8-9k spent on it to keep it nice. I think that’s pretty reasonable.
Looks like you used a proper lift to gain access - yet the end showed you lowering a jack. Not sure you have enough room to get under there without lifting it higher?
Good work Ryan. My car is 10 years old too and due gearbox fluid change, it’s not a job I fancied tackling though! Though I have done the diff fluid myself already. How much £s was the pan and fluid?
Hi Stuart. Completely understandable if you don’t feel up to it yourself. Good that you did the diff oil though as it’s one more commonly missed from what I hear. The kit was £270 from Amazon, it’s actually listed as for an f pace but they use the same gearbox.
@@RyanBengal1 I think on the basis of your video I am going to try and do my fluid change too. Is there any chance you could post a link to the sump pan you purchased? Was it a job lot with the fluid? Also, that pump you used looks better than mine, if you have a link for that I will buy one too!
@@stewartmoss5624 Great to hear. Here’s where I got the kit from: GENUINE JAGUAR F PACE ZF 8HP50... www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CG6VJ7VF?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share The pump is this one: www.screwfix.com/p/hilka-pro-craft-oil-suction-gun-500cc/12527?tc=MC8&gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIraDI49WDhwMVHZRQBh04GAuDEAQYAyABEgLm4_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
Job completed today. Most difficult part was probably getting it jacked-up high enough but still level. I only got about 3.2 litres to drain; but all seems fine. I’ll get garage to recheck fluid level in a few weeks. I probably owe you a pint one day Ryan as I would not have attempted this without having seen your video 👍
Out of curiosity, what benefit did they see? I forgot about that as a potential benefit but did look into that for my previous cars. Unfortunately I’d never be able to tell an improvement in MPG in the F Type as I deliberately never look at it! 😅 But yeah good point, hopefully it does have some positive impact.
@@RyanBengal1 Warm synthetic oil is well avoided breathing in and getting into the skin especially any wounds. The oil does vapourise when hot to a certain extent and you did right doing it in the open. Has been construed as carcinogenic but yeah wear gloves mate. Keep the vids coming....Don't mean to frighten you or anything, prevention is better than cure Ryan. All the best.
@@ChrisFEJackson Fair point Chris, I’ll keep that in mind in the future and hopefully that’s useful advice for anyone watching this looking to do the job themselves.
Another great video Ryan. Your channel is so helpful for Jaguar F-Type owners who are thinking about working on their car themselves! Love the driving clips at the end 😊
Wow it's so interesting seeing this done! If you'd have told me 10 years ago I could see this content on RU-vid in 4K I'd never have believed you! Also, love the sound of the engine😍 Can't wait to see what comes next, maybe an upgrade to the infotainment system?!
Wouldn’t mind doing the CarPlay upgrade! It is a bit pricey but probably well worth it to bring the car up to date inside, seems like it’s quite easy to do though!
I've just bought a 2015 F type and there's a yellow warning on the dash saying washer bottle water is low, when it's fully topped up. I didn't realise there is a bottle at the front of the car as well as the one accessed in the boot. I'm confused as to how to rectify and what the problem is ? Any ideas ! Did your cleaning out the filters and front tank sort out your problem? Great chanel !👍
Hi Richard, congratulations on your purchase. Yes that’s right regarding the two washer bottles. It sounds like fluid may not be getting to the front tank. The simplest solution may be to take the front wheel and lining off and either look at the tank or pull out on of those motors to see if there’s any water there. If there is it sounds like it could be a sensor issue, if there isn’t then maybe a blockage at the back tank or the motor attached to the back tank isn’t working. I found that working on these systems is a bit of trial and error. Have a look at the description if you didn’t already as I do mention more work I did as well to properly fix it on mine. Thanks
I think it's a sensor problem, the windscreen washers work fine so water is getting through. There are sensors in both tanks, which one is faulty, taking the rear bumper off is a bridge too far with my limited tools/knowledge. Someone said put Listerine in rear tank, alcohol content cleans sensor! Probably need to speak to a local specialist for further help.
A quick follow up..... after replacing front washer bottle sensor......problem still there. Problem seems to be rear pump and or sensor, a bridge too far for me, cars going into local specialist to remove rear bumper ( even he said it's a pain!). Fortunately I got free years warranty when buying the car and they're paying ! Crazy Jag don't put an inspection hatch in the rear boot to access tank/pump/sensor !! Keep up the good work 👍
The irony here is Jag were using the steel from their parent company, TATA and it turned out to be poorly protected steel which is not a great look. I think the new models used properly protected steel.
I must say I've used XCP on my motorbikes, after I saw a comparison vid on YT. However, Ive not as yet been very impressed; one ride out in winter but dry conditions,.and many of the 'protected' nuts/bolts had gone rusty, following a week or so in my (dry) garage. I'm going to try Bolt n Hammer wax oil on my car this year, as both XCP and ACF50 have not worked well. Best option I've found is to rub off loose rust, use a rust converter and then a smooth Hamerite. I tried Hamerite direct to rust and after a while it just feels off. Remember to keep the surface clean, I just use brake cleaner.. Onwards
Hey dude, great video. Loving your content - especially the f-type. I worked and lived in Wilmslow for many years, spent many hours walking the roads of the rich and famous. Appreciate you probably didn't film everywhere you went, but it seems you missed the "big" houses. Most houses are special but there is little pockets where the houses are unbelievable. The golden triangle has massively expanding too. Places like Hale, Knutsford, Altrincham all have monstrous mansions. Some of these houses are up the smallest of lanes you wouldn't know existed unless you knew!
Thanks a lot mate, appreciate it. More videos on the way! You’re right about the houses. We have seen some amazing ones while in the car and yeah, the extent isn’t just the triangle as you mention. Might be good to do a follow up at some point looking at a broader area as certainly not a bad day trip out to film!
It´s like the V6 has a real voice and the V8 is just making alot of noise. But i love the quad exhaust. Can´t afford it anyway so i will go for the V6 :)
And I thought America was infested with McMansions, tooling around in a lowly V6 F-Type just won't cut it in those neighborhoods. But I have a black version of your car, I feel OK driving it around my New Hampshire USA area. It's not as posh as the Golden Triangle though.
Great video. I'm surprised how little underbody protection Jaguar fits compared with the German marques - a BMW of that era would have plastic undertrays over the full underbody.
Thanks for the comment Sean - I agree! I That surprised me as well. The only ‘plus’ is that the car is on 80k and is now 10 years old and considering those two things there’s really not much bad with it at all with just bits of surface corrosion on any steel bits, so seems to be OK despite the lack of under trays.
Plastic would hide the visual inspection of the rust...it would still rust....and then what....it is about the air with salt spray/water and time...and cheap steel. Later Jaguars fixed the steel issue. This comment in no way is scientific - hiding things makes it actually more dangerous...the Jaguar approach is better.
Thanks for the comment Ron. I’ve heard a lot of bad things about LA traffic! In terms of the wife driving it, there’s nothing to be afraid of I’m sure we can both reassure her! Especially in rain mode when they barely want to move 😄
