In this video I save £400 by doing a gearbox service myself on my Jaguar F Type. Originally had this job booked in at a quoted price of £650 but managed to do this myself for £270 all in.
Wow it's so interesting seeing this done! If you'd have told me 10 years ago I could see this content on RU-vid in 4K I'd never have believed you! Also, love the sound of the engine😍 Can't wait to see what comes next, maybe an upgrade to the infotainment system?!
Wouldn’t mind doing the CarPlay upgrade! It is a bit pricey but probably well worth it to bring the car up to date inside, seems like it’s quite easy to do though!
Another great video Ryan. Your channel is so helpful for Jaguar F-Type owners who are thinking about working on their car themselves! Love the driving clips at the end 😊
Out of curiosity, what benefit did they see? I forgot about that as a potential benefit but did look into that for my previous cars. Unfortunately I’d never be able to tell an improvement in MPG in the F Type as I deliberately never look at it! 😅 But yeah good point, hopefully it does have some positive impact.
@@RyanBengal1 Warm synthetic oil is well avoided breathing in and getting into the skin especially any wounds. The oil does vapourise when hot to a certain extent and you did right doing it in the open. Has been construed as carcinogenic but yeah wear gloves mate. Keep the vids coming....Don't mean to frighten you or anything, prevention is better than cure Ryan. All the best.
@@ChrisFEJackson Fair point Chris, I’ll keep that in mind in the future and hopefully that’s useful advice for anyone watching this looking to do the job themselves.
Good work Ryan. My car is 10 years old too and due gearbox fluid change, it’s not a job I fancied tackling though! Though I have done the diff fluid myself already. How much £s was the pan and fluid?
Hi Stuart. Completely understandable if you don’t feel up to it yourself. Good that you did the diff oil though as it’s one more commonly missed from what I hear. The kit was £270 from Amazon, it’s actually listed as for an f pace but they use the same gearbox.
@@RyanBengal1 I think on the basis of your video I am going to try and do my fluid change too. Is there any chance you could post a link to the sump pan you purchased? Was it a job lot with the fluid? Also, that pump you used looks better than mine, if you have a link for that I will buy one too!
@@stewartmoss5624 Great to hear. Here’s where I got the kit from: GENUINE JAGUAR F PACE ZF 8HP50... www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CG6VJ7VF?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share The pump is this one: www.screwfix.com/p/hilka-pro-craft-oil-suction-gun-500cc/12527?tc=MC8&gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIraDI49WDhwMVHZRQBh04GAuDEAQYAyABEgLm4_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
Job completed today. Most difficult part was probably getting it jacked-up high enough but still level. I only got about 3.2 litres to drain; but all seems fine. I’ll get garage to recheck fluid level in a few weeks. I probably owe you a pint one day Ryan as I would not have attempted this without having seen your video 👍
Looks like you used a proper lift to gain access - yet the end showed you lowering a jack. Not sure you have enough room to get under there without lifting it higher?
