As we enter our retirement years, we have ambitious plans. From section hiking the Appalachian Trail state by state to peak bagging in the Adirondacks, we’ll be very busy. Along the way we’ll be visiting some of our great national parks and there’s even a trip to Iceland in the works!
Our first challenge is to hike the New Jersey section of the Appalachian Trail and we’ll soon follow that with the New York section. Our long goal being to hike the Appalachian Trail through as many states as we can. Another challenge will be to bag more of the 46 Adirondack High Peaks (we have 2 so far 😄).
Our motto is “Every successful hike begins with a good plan”. We spend hours, days and even weeks planning our hikes and we’d like to share our hard work here with you. From amazing vistas and points of interest to trail conditions to where to park and how to find bathroom facilities, our videos will feature everything you need to know about the trails, so you’ll have a safe and enjoyable hike.
@@patriot9494 Thanks for watching and commenting. Have fun! I’m currently working on sprinting up there again, trying to legitimately make it in under 30 minutes this time.
@@krohikinghappens500 yes we have more mountains , I would like to connect and tell you more, have you ever visited in Africa? There is any way where we can connect like email m
@@thierrymunseugandachildren802 We have not traveled much until now. Only recently we have retired and plan to travel more. I think our first international trip will be to Iceland to hike on glaciers.
@@krohikinghappens500 ohh that's great, I would like to tell you more about the ministry I do if you don't mind there is any way where we can connect like email? You have been asking if we have mountains in uganda ,I would like to connect
Hello and thank you so much for watching and supporting us from so far away. That really warms our heart to know that you find us worth your viewing time. ❤❤❤
@@orionlopes8099 It’s on the summit of Raccoon Hill in Connecticut Section 2. It’s super cool and makes for a great photo op! Thanks for watching and commenting.
Thank you so much for watching and commenting. We are truly grateful for your support. We grabbed a sub to your channel and look forward to checking out some of your amazing content.
@@JulieJordanScott Thank you so much for supporting us, Julie. We’ve walked this Lumberville-Raven Rock bridge many times and never knew there was another pedestrian bridge until we dug through a bit of the bridge’s history.
Thanks!! Today I’m way up by Tusten NY Near Narrowsburg Canoeing down to Highlands Unfortunately I parked down river and have to bike 9 miles up lol I’m sure you’ve done that before 😂😂
Congratulations!! Enjoy your channel Thanks for the ideas for places to visit I do a lot of canoeing and kayaking along the Delaware River …..more north of you…but I’m slowly working my way down lol
@@stephenborchers1205 Thanks for supporting us, watching and commenting. It really means a lot. There are a couple of boat launches between Frenchtown and Raven Rock to launch canoes and kayaks.
@@stephenborchers1205 Thank you so much!❤️I am very proud of the time, but oh man, it’s going to be so hard to do much better. I hope I don’t let everyone down.
@@LumberjackPa Thank you so much for watching, commenting and supporting us. ❤️ We enjoy watching you and Mrs. Lumberjack. I just commented on Darcy’s channel this morning that I was happy to see her team up with you guys.
Your videos are always refreshing and motivational. Keep up the great work. BTW, for a small state, New Jersey packs a lot in. I’m heading back up there in October.
@@mikewhitt4602 Thank you so much for watching and commenting. ❤️ Jersey always seems to get a bad wrap but yes, there is so much beauty to see here. When we talk to thru-hikers on the AT they always have such praise for New Jersey and it makes us happy! We’ll be happy to welcome you back.
Congratulations on 300. You two have good content and will get to 500 and then 1000 and beyond. It just takes time. That’s right, awesome to the flag. I used to intentionally put it in every one of my videos. It was hard to keep it going and now I only do it if I can. I’m sure I’ve probably seen this bridge but never walked across. 👍3
@@CraigKoppel Thank you so much for watching and commenting on our videos. It really means a lot to know you appreciate what we are doing. Your content is amazing and I can only hope to get to your level. This bridge is very popular especially on a sunny and beautiful day.
Congratulations on hitting 300 subscribers. You have great content on your channel. Liked seeing the bridge and I really liked how you included the old photos of it.
Congrats on 300 subs! RU-vid can be frustrating at times but also rewarding when you see your channel grow. Keep on putting out great content. I hope to be at 500 by the end of the year but we'll see how it goes.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you, to everyone who has supported us this first year of channel ownership. It's amazing that we have recently topped 300 subscribers and we owe it all to our viewers. We appreciate it so much and look forward to creating more content that we hope you continue to find interesting and worth your viewing time. ❤❤❤
@@onsturn Hi, thanks for watching and commenting. A sturdy pair of hiking boots for sure. Ro and I both have Merrell, but there are other good brands as well. We prefer the high-top style that provides more support to prevent rolling your ankle on rocky trail sections. A tent is a good idea if you spend the night on the trail. In NJ, camping is only allowed at the shelters except when you’re in Delaware Water Gap area there is the backpackers campsite. There is also camping at the Mohican Center but you need reservations and there is a fee. You can sleep in the shelters with a sleeping bag, but space is limited and you might have to share it with other hikers. The shelters are technically lean-to’s with an open side so you’re exposed to the elements. Remember to store your food in the bear boxes. Remember there’s no good water source through the Pochuck Mountain area so plan accordingly there. Good luck and happy hiking!
Good to see the gang again! I introduced a high schooler to the AT in High Point State Park this week. Always a joy! Twitch was so brave (or foolish? Don’t know which). Would you have done it differently? It isn’t a Barbie Privy but I do like the swing set! 😮😊 Fun camera angles!
@@JulieJordanScott So happy to have you along as we near checking off our 2nd state! The brook fording looked like it would have been fun and I wish I had done it but I had to stay with Ro on the road detour. She regrets not doing it now and if she had known how long the road walk was then she probably would’ve gone for it. There were two other thru-hike women crossing the brook but of course they were more prepared with proper footwear. The privies in CT have been clean but they’re just not as nice as Jersey’s, especially the Barbie privy! Maybe one day we’ll do a quick video featuring your Barbie privy. 😊 That’s wonderful that you are showing the younger generation how to enjoy the AT. A future thru-hiker perhaps? Btw, there was a woman trail running the entire 53 miles of AT in CT that day we hiked this section. We met her husband while he waited for her at a checkpoint. Then late in the day she ran past us! 😆 Talk about inspiring!
@@krohikinghappens500My son-in-law is an ultra marathon trail runner! I’ll tell him this story - he’ll be very inspired! I don’t think I told you I interviewed a triple crown winner who thru hiked the AT on RU-vid. He’s now on the Camino. Great guy and such a fun interview: I can share the interview if you would like. 😊
@@JulieJordanScott Thank you. Maybe I’m just crazy? 😆 My biggest concern is tripping and getting a physical injury. That’s constantly on my mind as I’m navigating through all the rocks and boulders. ❤️
So impressive! I can imagine you easily cutting off five minutes in two months. You are an inspiration! Glad to be following you along on this challenge.
@@JulieJordanScott Hello Julie! So happy to hear from you! I hope all is well with you. Thank you for your kind words of inspiration and I’m glad to have you following along on my crazy challenge.
@@hikingoutdoorfamily Thank you. OMG it’s so hard! 🥵😄 But I know there are people that run the Tammany 10 Ultramarathon. The Red Dot trail together with the Blue Trail that goes down the other side make a 3.5 mile loop. The marathon is 10 loops in 10 hours! My little run up seems so inconsequential compared to what those people can do. But I’ll still take a pat on the back for whatever I’m able to accomplish here. 😊
You seemed like you were really moving well. It looked much better and faster than last time. I honestly thought you would have crushed it by the way you were huffing and puffing. Just a little more stamina and I think you can do it. 🏃♂️👍⛰️
@@CraigKoppel Thank you, Craig. I definitely had my moments where it felt like I was hardly moving at all, but I just kept telling myself not to stop. It seems to be more muscle fatigue than cardio fatigue. I’m hoping a good pair of trail runners will make a difference too. Maybe I’ll have more confidence to scramble faster.
There is a definite physical limit as to what our bodies can do. It's different for everyone and you won't know until you try. Even Olympians reach a peak at a certain point that mathematically and physically its just not possible to do any better. That being said, I'm rooting you on and I hope you accomplish this goal by your birthday.
@@travelingRonman Thank you, Traveling Ronman. I really hope I can pull it off by then. It definitely feels much harder than when I tried it several years ago., which is weird because I don’t feel any older. 😄👴
This run was pretty brutal. I hope the POV footage isn't too boring. I tried to keep it short while still giving a good look at the terrain I'm navigating. I probably need to point the chest mount a little higher next time. What do you think? Note to self: Get trail runners for next time. 😄
It is one of my favorite places in NJ! Have fun next weekend and get there early. Gonna be crowded on a holiday weekend. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Beautiful view from Mount Tammany on a late August morning. The highway noise from below got picked up on this video more than I thought it would have. I really don’t notice it that much up there. But then again, I am getting a little deaf from many years of head banging at heavy metal concerts. 😅
@@GreenhornPhototaker You’re very welcome. I would really like to hike up there for a sunset sometime. I think that would be incredible. Thank you for watching and commenting!
@@CraigKoppel They are nice to have but I getting tired of the opening and closing every year. I pull out the pumps and filters before winter and reinstall it all in the spring. I pump out the dirty water and refill with clean water every spring too.
@@CraigKoppel Yes, I have two ponds. The frogs just show up every year and make their own tadpoles. Most years, several snakes show up too and they’ll control the tadpole/frog population. But the frogs are really thriving right now so I guess there haven’t been any snakes lately
@@krohikinghappens500 I was worried about getting snakes by my pond too, but luckily I never saw any. I’ve been living here since 2001 and never saw a snake on my property so far.
