At the moment you are barely 4.5 players in my view. The serve speed is on the 80 mph, the forehand on the 45-50 mph, the slices on 30 mph. A lot of mishit shots. More consistency at those speed to be a full 4.5 player. Once achieved that, add a 10 mph on your forehands , and add a 20 mph on the serves to be 5.0. I would work on being a little bit more explosive when going for the shots.
Yeah, not sure why but I ran into this similar database of 'top' ball machines a few years back when shopping for a unit, found Lobster pushed hard. FINALLY came across the Silent Partner manufactured by a Canadian firm and possibly not readily advertised in the US. Nonetheless went with their basic system with remote [remote matters]. The Silent Partner machine offers a quality unit top/back spin, speeds up to 95mph, manual elevation adjustments and programmed fore/backhand swing with simply OUTSTANDING customer service, well worth the Google. I managed to save approximately 40% off retail purchasing a demo unit [10hr use/1 yr warranty] off eBay. I have no affiliation w/ Silent Partner simply a happy customer!

I know you did these videos a few years ago but this is a very thorough review. It has been extremely helpful and based on your review, I’ve decided to purchase one of these for my family. You do really great job of presenting the information and explaining both what it does and doesn’t do. I’ve also watched your 1 year review video and it is also an excellent resource. Thanks for spending the time to share your experience with the slingerbag and making drill videos!
I came here for a review on the Wilson Practice compared to others, for my Slinger. You show it in your still photo preview but then don't even talk about it.
Strategies have a lot to do with your own strength and weaknesses and your opponents strengths and weaknesses. Serve and volley can work well as a surprise tactic, but generally not well against a strong returner.
For the ball to not get stuck I applied the "Professional-Grade Moldable Plastic Pellets by Polly Plastics" from amazon. I applied it on that panel in a slopy mold and glued it. To fix the issue of the ball not feeding I molded more of that noted mold and shaped the mold so that the crosswise shaft is further raised up a bit more than an inch and glued it on. On the dial section for adjusting the ball height from the luanch pad I appied a white "Fine Paint Marker for Rock Painting-Stone, Ceramic, Metal, Glass, Wood,Set of 6 Paint Pens High Volume Ink High Volume Ink for DIY Craft" from Amazon. I applied it on the black line marker for better visibility even from a distance. On the opening of the bag from the top entrance to place the racket I placed an elastic fiber string crosswise (made two a heated metal hole on both sides) and that is where I hang my towel. There's more but this is enough for now. Thanks for letting me share.
Any Gamma tennis in my opinion are the worst for ball machines, they are too hard and the ball nap is very slippery which can cause the wheels surface to become slippery and smooth.
different type and brand balls in the basket ,will bring much more bigger variety of hits and ball approaching...much more better for training...then same similar ball falling at the same place as is expected
Avoiding hitting the kid gives it another level of difficulty🙂🙂 thanks for the video. Will try those drills as soon as I buy new balls for my machine. I currently have to different pressures on my balls and it's quite annoying.
I use mostly Tretorn Micro X; but I intentionally mixed in used regular pressure balls, which I think mimics real playing experience, as the balls will come out with different spins and angles, make my foot work more.
As a tennis trainer i can say that a machine that can only shoot topspin balls like the Slingerbag, is bad for beginners, children and mainly people that want to learn tennis, also the slow speed of the Slingerbag doesn't make it suitable for higher level players. The argument that the Slingerbag is shooting slow speed balls and that this is good for training is bullshit in my opinion. It is good when a ball machine can be set at different speeds but the limitation of the Slingerbag is just that it can't shoot high speed balls. So you need to put the ball machine at the net position, how can you then say that it is a good ball machine? As ball machine specialist, I can say that there are several ballmachines of a Slingerbag price, that can shoot normal, topspin or slice balls with a speed so that it easily could be positioned at the opposite baseline. The Slingerbag concept is nice, ball bag, charger for phone and ball picker in one. But the Slingerbag is really a bad kind of ball machine. The people that bought it didn't know that there are also easy to use and cheap ball machines that can shoot normal balls at normal speeds with not only topspin.
@@tigerfan3462 We have the Smart 1 (€ 822,- excl vat) and Smart 2 (€ 1070,- excl vat). This is sales in Europe so, if selling there, an extra vat is included. For outside Europe an extra shipment is necessary. Sure I want to sell but if you are outside Europe, there might be a seller in your country without the necessary plane shipment cost (about € 250,- to most parts of the world from Europe).
My Slinger’s On/Off switch died just after about 14 months. I called Slinger customer service and sent them photos. They shipped me a new one the next day. Make sure you register your Slinger online when you get it. You get six extra months of warranty (total 2 1/2 years, but only in the U.S.). I am a very happy customer 🎉. But will NOT buy again. Lobster machine is much better, they cost twice as much but you can program top or back spin and flat shot to 65 miles per hour.
Hi Nate, I wonder if your Slinger is still working great. 1/2 way through you turned the Slinger up to full speed..... what angle did you set the ball machine to ? I am asking because the balls are coming over the net at a very high altitude.... I wonder if you can angle it down so the balls are coming over the net only say a foot or 2 higher than the net.... in your video they are really high. Anyway, thanks for your video ! P.S. - Your last video was a whole year ago ! Hmm... maybe you aren't playing anymore, which would be a shame.
I bought one and its a nogo , great idea but needs 2 wheels , heavy topspin till you turn it down so slow its laughable , this is a topspin only machine and it's a one trick pony .
The remote is unreliable. The zippered front is unnecessary. The battery box/battery plugin design is awkward. The ball trough needs tweaking for reliable ball drop into loader. Great machine for aspiring highschool players. Not necessary for rec players who see very little topspin from opponents. ONE serious negative: $50/month in balls. Why? To create topspin machine pinches each ball and after a month brown bald spots appear where all the green has been worn off. Pay a coach or pay Amazon for new balls. I sold mine after 3 months of tweaking my form. No regrets.
@@markelovett I got the basic slinger, modified the ball trough for ball feed and battery box for easy removal. Permanently removed zippered cover and modified carry/lift straps. Sold it for $400 after 3 months when I found my form. No regrets, except for the remote, which is really just an on-off switch you gotta use standing next to the machine.
I don’t like my Slinger Bag and going to sell it. The Exaggerated topspin prevents to get in aMatchlike rhythm. Budget: a cheaper machine you don’t use is more expansive than buying one you use for more money.
I would agree….if you buy something you don’t like, it’s for sure more expensive than just buying something you like in the first place. 😂 sorry you didn’t like the slinger bag.
Great question! No! Pressurized balls are not meant to be played when they go flat. Their performance will dramatically decline as it looses pressure. Pressure less balls ARE meant to maintain the performance and shouldn’t loose pressure as fast as pressurized balls. This is a big reason why i suggest ppl NOT use “old balls” in their ball machine
The silent partner does have more functionality then the slingerbag. But depending on the model, the silent partner could be MUCH more expensive. So it’s going to depend on the model you are looking at and your budget. I made ball machine buyers guide where i rank all the main machines available by price point. Feel free to check it out
@@natestenniscomeback1486 thanks mate, did check it out. The Edge Star is about $250 more… Slinger keeps edging their prices up and up. I remember when people were getting them for less than $600! My heart wants a Hydrogen Sports proton, but there’s so little out there about them. Very few videos, very little advertisements, and as a relatively new company, I’m not sure about their service/ longevity.
@@Jack-er6wi thanks Jack! Yes i am one of those lucky ppl haha! Ver fortunate. I also want a Proton! I have talked with the founder of that company and I’ve loved everything I’ve heard/ seen. I’ve asked if i could get my hands on one to do a review but so far no luck.
Pressureless tennis balls lost hair as well. Just because it did not lose air pressure. Balls are big expense. My ball expense is high than the machine over machine life time.
I really couldn’t tell you haha. I have an iPhone SE and it works well. But I’m sure the newer the phone the better because battery life is an issue. Having the phone in the Sun and recording a video for 1.5-2hours will always drain it haha
Nice vid, also did you mean to say pressureless balls feel hard instead of flat? (0:30) I use babolat gold academy balls which are pressureless balls in my SlingerBag but I think that's whats caused my shoulder injury due to them being so hard
Hard for me to say if that’s what caused it. Normally i juries like that or things like tennis elbow and really because of technique. But the wrong equipment (balls in this case) could for sure contribute to it
Great video, it's good to see the thought process during a match. I think in connection with your distinction between correct strategy and correct execution, there is a classical trap where players change their strategy at crucial junctures in the match for really no good reason at all. That happens to me: I am ahead and suddenly I drop the topspin shots and go with slices, losing the lead. I also found that players fall into certain patterns. For example, my main opponent always tries to pass me on the net when I attack his forehand, but lobs me when I attack his backhand. Knowing that, I can basically slow down my approach to the net in the latter case and expect an overhead. Micropatterns like that probably exist for many players, myself included.
Yea great points. Patterns are a HUGE part of tennis. Understanding what patterns you use effectively and being able to identify patterns from your opponents is critical if you want to advance as a player
@@natestenniscomeback1486 Is there actually a way to recognize them during the match? I spend hours afterwards to analyze the games - it would be cool if I could see what's going on during the game already.
Oh, and slices can also be effective weapons if they are kept flat; and varying topspin with slice works as well, since most pushers simply deflect the ball back and don't add any own pace. So if they are used to flicking topspin back, they will be maladjusted for slice and vice versa.
