Great message, exactly what I needed! Thank you ;) Constructive Criticism: Use a little bit less of that music, or change it up a bit. It got quite repetitive after a while. All the best and good luck for the sponsorship! Subscribed!
I m a spot up shooter, yesterday missed 3 straight right elbow 3s in 1 possession game, all are open shot and there is my sweet spot, kinda frustrated and disappointed that I let my teammate down, over-thinking is really a mental block for playing well, when practicing shooting drills, our mind tend to be free shot better
This is tough, but the reality is it happens to all basketball players. In college in a championship game I missed 2 open 3s in the last minute that would have won us the game, and we lost. You did not let your teammates down, you just missed some shots, which happens!
This really helped me, thank you. This next season I'm having to adjust my game from a big to more of a wing because of going into an older group, and taking open shots has always been hard for me, aiming to take atleast 3 shots a game this season. Hope you play your best with your new team
I'm 40 years old. When I was younger, I would often over think before shooting or passing. People would always tell me "just shoot, don't think." I've barely lost a step in 20 years. My shot is better now than ever. I never think. People that haven't seen me play, think I just "chuck" shots. But those that do know, know that's my most dangerous. Regarding the flow state, your teammates have to know "feed the hot man the ball." And then just go to get it. Techniques or rituals? None. Ever. Never listen to music when shooting around. The game isn't really a controlled environment. I want to practice with all distractions. I want to listen to the ball bounce and react to not just the feel, but the sound. When I get in the zone and go crazy, I'm in a zone, sure. That's when everything sounds like it's in an ocean and I just focus on the ball bouncing and moving around to score. When watching film, I wouldn't go as deep as you do. It's just what did I do wrong and why? What are my teammates common mistakes? How can I help that? Where is the rebound going? Keep up the good work. Hope this helps or sheds a different perspective on how you can fine tune everything.
Hey man love the vid, and in my history as a centre I've just kind off stopped when my mind ain't sure what to do, and doing some of the things you mentioned helped me and my decision making has improved and my overall game too
@@TuckerRichardson yeah, luckily for me I had the right coachs around me who helped me a lot, but I've seen a lot of younger players literally freeze up and just dont know what to do and let the stress get to them, but hopefully they see a video like this😅
Love this, I'm going to watch this again with my two "over-thinking" sons later today. I really appreciate the goal setting idea and examples of the type of goals you set, great stuff!
Great video! Congrats on your first 2 BNXT League games, being within 11 points of winning against the defending champs is no small feat! Hope to catch a game live this season.
Congracts for reaching 30k. It's a great channel. Keep up the good work! Never even played organised basketball, but i just love your positive and methodothic approach to game, improving your play and also just following journey as a pro athlete.
Based on how you talk, in my opinion you are definitely the kind of guy we need coaching. Your attitude is truly exceptional. I know you'll have success playing, and young players need to hear what you're saying. 👍🏿 Great job 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
This summer I worked on 3 point and midrange shooting, finishing with my off hand, ball handling, and playing more "athletically". I also got a lot of pickup and runs in, because I used to have a big issue playing free and confident in games, which I've sort of fixed! Looking foward to having a breakout varsity season as a senior and hopefully getting some opportunities to play after high school.
