definitely haven't implemented this consistently but thinking back on it i can remember moments where this has happened to me...napping before games might be an elite strategy as well as that is the time for your brain to consolidate and run through memories of what happens to you, solidifying visualization memories further
Great video! I play pro as well. Currently in Poland and I've been trying work on my mental game. I do some visualization for free throws, but now i really want to try it for longer and with other in-game situations. I do have the time as well 😆
I'm not in a team but this works when I practice. I was doing dribbling combos all across the coart and then made 3 straight NBA range 3s because I didn't limit my mind and took the shot
Had a game last night, i only got to the line once, but i tried the visualisation and i went 1-2, which as im sure you remember is a vast imporvement lol. Finished the game with 17 points (my 2nd highest score all season) and we won by 3 so im happy
@@TuckerRichardson Yea after I watched your video I do this before like anything where I feel like I need to perform in front of people. I think for me it’s actually like a defense mechanism to make sure I don’t mess up but yea it works.
I haven't done this before...definitely gonna be working on it. I'm a good shooter in games but I think a lot of it is muscle memory without having visualized specific plays...that's a cool idea and I'll add it to my routine for sure
Hey coach, im a big fan! Currently im a 5'9 freshman guard trying to get moved to the jv team. Do you have any advice on what i should do everyday to get moved up? Advice on treating my body to get taller or any advice on improving my vertical?
Like you said after games at the beginning or pickup I visualize what I could of done better or when the defender started sprinting on defense I do a crossover to create space. I’m definitely going to do this before games or practice
Great stuff man! I have used visualization before and have found that if I visualize too much or visualize situations that are unrealistic it can lead to thoughts of negative outcomes and overthinking which ultimately hurts me on the court. Just wanted to see if you have ever experienced this or heard of it. Keep up the great work!
Yes I know what you mean, sort of like how overthinking in a game can lead to negative results. I think visualization works for me though because it actually allows me to think less when the game begins, as I have already played these situations in my head. And certainly if you visualize negative or unrealistic things, that will ultimately hurt you more than help you.
Hey Tucker, great vid I’m a freshman in high school and I was wondering if you have any advice for me to one day get a d1 scholarship one day and have a successful high school basketball career?
Check out my video on my story to getting a scholarship. You might learn some stuff about my journey in there. Otherwise, just keep working, it is still really early for you!
I tend to mix up my shooting workouts, but I always try and work on shots that I know I will get in a game. This means a lot of on the move shooting. I try to do as little stand still shooting as possible, especially when I am training in the off season.
I just watched your video on selfishness and right now heading into my first season of High School basketball I can agree with that considering I only have two other players that care one of them is a Patrick Beverley archetype whereas the other is like a Kawhi that can only defend and layup and I would say right now I play like Luka Doncic should I help them improve by passing more or should I just take the winning/selfish route?
I think both ways can be beneficial to your game. However I will say, if you are the hardest worker/most skilled player on your team, then you will need to be aggressive an in attack mode for your team to have its best chance to win games.
I visualized typing this comment and poof, as of the moment I push the send button this will go into. The comment section… nothing but (inter) net. 1 2 3 riiiiiiiiight …. now Edit: clearly I need to work on my space bar skills as I hit it twice causing a error of the second period…. resulting in capital punishment.
A form of visualization I use is when I am shooting around, I imagine the defender in front of me and how I would create a shot/get around them and create space. It’s helped me a lot! Also, great video Tuck!! These videos are so helpful:)
Is visualization a skill you can work on because i was trying this the day i watched this i had a game same day and i couldn’t visualize almost at all after like 20 minutes of trying i sorta did ik theres studys that say some can really good and some cant at all
So how many times should i replay each moment that I’m visualising? And Should i do it with music or just block out noise? And my last question is how much time before the game should i do it?
Great questions! And I think the answer to all of them is, it is up to you! In my opinion, thinking through the plays in your mind just one time, as long as you are doing it in a very detailed way, can be enough. I liked listening to music when I visualize, but that might not work for you. And you can visualize the day of the game or before it if you want. I like doing It the day of the game because it feels fresh in my mind.
yeah I would say it works I have read several mental toughness books and they all reccommend mental visualization I would also reccomend metidating if you can't focus during games or practice. It makes a difference in my game by allowing me to focus and perform at the heighest level
