This is What Failure in College Basketball Looks Like

50% 1

I played division 1 basketball at Colgate University. And over my 5 year, 155 game career at Colgate, one stands out as my worst. On March 11th 2020, we hosted Boston University in the championship game of the Patriot League tournament.
We were the top seed and were attempting to repeat our title game win from the year before to get to March Madness. The game was completely sold out, expectations were incredibly high. I had been having a really good year, and was shooting over 40% from 3 on the season.
In my mind we were going to win, we had to win. There was no other way around it.
But, we lost. And not only did we lose, but I had 2 points in the game, and shot 0-6 from 3. Including some big misses at the very end of a game which we lost by only 3 points.

@@TuckerRichardson You’re proving that you can recruit by working on your channel and the subscriber count. Your leadership skills are excellent. And you’re battle tested. It’s a process but I believe.

I know that i have only been watching your vids for a couple weeks, and i have improved my physical and technical ability a lot since my last season, but after watching a few of your videos more about the mental side of the game i had my best ever game last night to open the season. 20pts on good efficiency around the basket. Just need to improve the 3 pointer (1/4) and the free throw (0/5) 😅😅

So great to hear this! Hey man, free throw struggles are real! I have had my own over the years. I'm gonna be making a video soon opening up about those struggles and how I have fixed it. Either way, so cool you got off to a great start!

yo tucker i love ur vids man, i have a problem that i thought u might be able to help me with. im a 14 year old 6'1 player, i am fast athletic and have good iq my coach says. but i have a lot of trouble scoring, like i can hit shots when im open but i cant create my own shots for some reason even tho i am like i already said way faster, bigger and more athletic tham most of my deffenders. i dont know whats wrong and its really worrying me since i wanna make basketball my career.

Appreciate the comment! If you are struggling to create your own shots, it sounds like you need to be putting in more work to train your skills. Something I see a lot of younger players with is they just play basketball, and they don't train. You should go on RU-vid, and find drills or skill workouts that emphasize creating your own shot, ball handling, finishing, etc. It is great that you are bigger and more athletic, but without high level skills, you will continue to struggle. I had the same issues my freshman year of high school, and then really committed myself to training everyday. I hope this helps!

Not related to the video but how do I develop a daily training plan to actually improve
@TuckerRichardson
@TuckerRichardson 11 месяцев назад
RU-vid is a great resource to find drills and workouts to do. I would emphasize training your shooting, ball handling, and finishing in every workout because those are probably the 3 most important skills for success on the court. Especially shooting is the most important skill in basketball in 2023.

@@Hoopin_ I actually trained with JLawBball this summer, and he shows some good pro workouts. If you look closely in the one he posted working out Zach Lavine, you might find me! But obviously, he is training pros, and you might be looking for more basic drills. In that case, I like the channel, TJL training, but you might want to do some RU-vid searching on your own and see what works for you. Hope this helps!

I'm not sure what I want to do after yet. But coaching is something I would probably be open to!
