Hey Gary, hope all is well and you're just taking a well deserved break from RU-vid but I sure wish you would consider returning once you're able to. Take care, best to you and yours.
and I thought I did well taking out a 450 pound lathe/mill out of my basement up 6 stairs and into my garage and up on a stand , then taking my new 450 pound lathe down to my basement shop by myself. My hat is off to you sir! Well Done!
I had one of these in 13x30. Fantastic machines! Never had the spindle apart but seeing this amazed at the size and quality of the gears and bearings!!!! Thank you!!!
Hello I enjoyed the video. I recently was left one of these by my dad. He picked it up at an auction. It's a DoAll branded type 24200. Do you have any info on how to lubricate the gears or maybe even a video showing how to properly oil them? I plan to run mine with a single phase to 3 phase vfd. Thanks, John.
That was very interesting to learn about the methods used to drive and set bushings with no need to muck them up with new ports bc someone doesn't take the time to think things through like you did/do. Awesome stuff Gary.
Great Job! I've got an old direct drive machine that I'm getting ready to start working on, and this helped me understand what I'm getting ready to get into.
That’s sweet ….. I got a Hobart stick welder… single and 3 phase … got it for practically nothing… but that machine is sweet… my father believes the old welders are superior… I think that too just as the old cars are too … easy to fix as he says
Hey. A friend of mine asked me what i am doing at work and i showed her this video. Thanks for the video it helped me to explain my daily work. Greatings from hörbiger vienna.
Love this channel with or without spoken commentary. YT must posses supernatural power because I spent the best part of today reinforcing a scissor jack to work safely on a a lathe of just 900 Kg . In the future I shall make something like that, but withe the toe tongue sticking out from the base, so it can be inserted in the slots that out machines have.
Did you figure out how to wire it for 220v? I have a similar 3hp Weidenhoff motor currently wired and running on 110v. It is marked 110v/220v, I'd like to wire it for 220v.
Hi Gary, I’m currently working on restoring a series 61 20 inch lathe. I’m into the apron now and see a couple broken parts. Does your friend still have that parts lathe? Any way you could put me in touch?
Nick, The only parts let of the Lathe is the main spindle shaft and gears. I have them at my place. Everything else was either sold or scraped out. But it was a 16 so not sure what would have been the same.
I just bought a 1950's 325 and am in process of getting it up and running. The tubing from the hydraulic unloader to the unloader valve is leaking. I had not considered converting the tubing over to stainless, have you had any issue with that in the last 4 years of use?
