"Blaine uses a good old full health super potion against Ponyta..." You might not have meant to say it like that, but it absolutely works since that move was pretty much the worst thing he could do to his Ponyta.
27:23 SEVEN RINGS IN HAND SPEED THROUGH NIGHTS WITH FEET IN SAND SEVEN RINGS IN HAND WONDERS ALL UNDER COMMAND SEVEN RINGS IN HAND WILD WITH JUST ONE SINGLE HAND SEVEN RINGS IN HAND ARROWED HEARTS CATCH FIRE NOW Sorry, got carried away. Love that song.
40:07 you are supposed to catch the first normal pokemon you encounter right? But here you skip a pidgeotto to catch chansey in the next encounter. How is that allowed?
I think you should re-do this run. You should have chosen Squirtle for your rival’s starter because that would have made the run harder, which I think is the spirit of these challenges.
I always thought Surf was overpowered as a move for getting it so early in the game. Hydropump has accuracy issues so I've never used it. Sane reason I've always proffered Thunderbolt to Thunder.
Victreebel is basically a slightly slower Venosaur in terms of stats, though more skewed in favor of attack vs defense whereas Venosaur is balanced in that regard. They also have pretty much the same move set. So the only difference between them is -10 speed, +23 attack and -23 defense at level 100 from Victreebel's perspective. Thus one would expect their performance throughout the run to be pretty similar. I guess the extra attack of Victreebel helped since you relied more on Body Slam than Razor Leaf but it's hard to say if there were instances where you got the KO with Victreebel where you wouldn't have with Venosaur due to the slightly lower attack stat. So I'm very surprised you ranked Victreebel so much higher than Venosaur on your list, though as you said it's incredibly subjective and doing his run much later than Venosaur's helped since you gained a lot more knowledge and experience since the Venosaur run.
I runs like this you should absolutely do every single possible trainer including rival 1A(the one in the same location as rival 6 but before beating Brock) which you normally skip with literally every Pokemon. Would have saved you a good chunk of time as leveling on him is way faster than getting the same amount in Viridian Forest. Same goes for your Ditto run and other super challenging runs where you still skip him, out of habit I guess...
24:17 thing is, even as early as Gen II you can equip a Shuckle with a berry and after enough steps in the over world the Shuckle will turn it into a rare candy.
Sure, blame twitch chat for "distracting" you. Jk. Great video, as always. I honestly thought horsea wouldn't perform as well as it did (in the context of first stage Pokemon). I'm glad to see I was wrong.
Why were you spamming growl like ten times after his attack was already the lowest it could go? 😂 it literally said “nothing happened” like ten times lmao
I feel like you were unfair with Mr.Mime. maybe you don't like him as much as other pokemon but he was pretty dominant despite you not doing the best options available like grabbing body slam over mega punch and not getting psychic earlier and the misuse of meditate and substitute
Well, believe it or not, but you can actually beat the Champion starting at level 48 (finishing at Level 50), you'll have two of the toughest Pokémon battles ever though (Lance is also a living nightmare, and next to them, Lorelei will force you to reset several times). I enjoyed my run a lot, Alakazam is a very strong Pokémon full of tricks.
