Thank you. Very informative series. I have been looking at this sander and think you convinced me! Are you also able to use this to flatten a board when it starts off not flat? Would you attach it to a flat board with shims and run it through? Thanks again!
I am tasked with designing dust extraction for quite a large Mens' Shed woodwork shop. This video provides me with the basis of a logical approach to justifying the purchase of an appropriate system. Thank you.
4 years later I am learning Fusion 360 and trying to draw shaker doors. Having hunted through hours of other videos I have finally found the answer. Thank you so much!
I have the Axminster jig very similar to this and to be fair to this a very similar level of quality. I think Kreg have lost this market too many jigs available that are far better.
Great series, well done. I have the D4, which I got second hand, finally dragged the thing out and got to work. Just completed cutting half blind dovetails for 7 drawers for my kitchen cabinets. Five different height ranging from 4 3/16” to 10 1/4”. I really like the adjustable fingers which allowed me to space out the dovetails perfectly for each drawer. For anyone new to Leigh system, keep the instruction manual handy and cut plenty of practice joints. At least for me, it took quite a few joints to really get dialed in on the half blind dovetails. It payed off though, as I have drawers that are accurately sized with very nice fittings joints. Your video was definitely helpful.
169 pounds for a drill stand! You've got to be kidding me! Is it meant as a desk ornament only? That might be an excuse for its exorbitant price, otherwise I would rather get a bench drill for the price. Having said that, watching the close up shots in this video it is evident that this is a quality piece. I've just watched another review of this before this video and it was filmed from a distance so the device was not as clearly displayed as here. You get what you pay for. Still, I'd prefer an all-in-one drill with adjustable stand (rather than a stand to which you attach a drill that might already have a chuck) or (even better) a doweller/dowel joiner
Good points. The MFT is optimized to process sheet good accurately and safely. The more traditional strategy to breakdown sheet goods efficiently and accurately is to have an industrial sized table saw with a huge sliding table. That requires a big shop and deep pockets.
VERY well done video - thanks! Are you still using this? I ordered one for use with the Sawstop CTS and am absolutely on the fence of whether to keep it or send it back. Thanks!
Hi Andy hope all is good. I've been watching this review again as I'm looking to purchase a rail square very soon. However, I was just wondering if you could clarify something please. When you are referring to the calibration points of the rail, you show the certificate indicating the accuracy between the 2 sides of the square, Is this the correct place to measure it from? Surely the measure should be taken from the lip underneath to the opposite side as this is what rests against your timber not the side. Am I missing something?
You need to get to the title in 7 seconds or less and front load your videos if you want people to watch. Having a 75 second introduction is complete nonsense and discouraged by anybody and everybody with huge followings (think Mr. Beasts), which is what I think you are trying to reach eventually. The average youtuber will watch a video for 7 seconds and if you don't get to the title...they will click off. You have an introduction 10x that long. Maybe harsh but I'm actually trying to help you...otherwise I would have just clicked off the video and wrote nothing. Best of luck.
so UJK or basic autoline? i do not anticipate doing angled drilling but might be nice to have the option. Then again - no rails on the UJK. Each on sale, and the Woodpeckers will be about $60 more as I would have to add the bigger chuck to the UJK. Thx.
Do you still like the saw? Wonder how your cabinet build went for this. I'm considering buying this but wonder if it will be too limited to just small projects like picture frames.
For anybody who interested 0.001 degrees is 0.04mm over the length of an 8 ft sheet; .001 degrees is 0.13mm over the length of an 8 ft sheet; that's with software set to 2 decimal places. Anyway enough of that. I'm a Mk2 rail square owner. I'm not convinced they tightened up evenly and created a right-angle, not do I think the shape of the cam provides a positive connection between rail and square, and they certainly didn't remain tight either in terms in terms of the nyloc nor against the rail. Because I don't feel confident about it, I don't really use it and it's become more of a last resort than a go-to. I bought the BD Mk2 RS as a cheaper alternative to the TSO square which is expensive in the UK. I'm not sure if I want to get behind this upgrade though as I'll have ended up spending about as much as with the TSO but it's also a DIY solution. So face with £25 for the upgrade or £100+ for the factory supplied clasp design - which I consider to be superior due to the people endorsing it, including Festool - I must say I'm tempted to go large and get on with making stuff confident that if something isn't right then it's the material, not the material OR the tool.
I was wondering what you thought of the UJK vs the Woodpecker Auto line. The price difference is about $100 in the US and I don't think I will be doing much angled drilling. Thanks for your insights!
Very instructive, thanks! Have you used the Y adapter? If so, How much suction is diminished ? I want to set up with Kapex and the Festool table saw. Any advice? Thanks!
Hey Andy. New viewer and have watched quite a few of your videos by now. Enjoy the way you are to the point. Thank you very much for the reviews! I have had my eye on the more basic woodpeckers version version but…… just in case, and sure everyone thinks this way, I may need the angle function one day so….. have been considering the woodpeckers version without tilt functionality. Yes the price is a bit ridiculous. A third of what a good drill press would be if you opt for the deluxe kit, which I would. The reason for writing this comment is to ask, as I have never held the woodpeckers version before, would it be possible to align the two red pucks for drilling into round stock using one of the bars for the fence? I am thinking because the bars are straight and a small diameter you could set them in the two machined “v” in the red pucks for alignment prior to tightening the socket head cap screws? Thanks having a look at the post and thanks again for the videos. Have a good one.
I find the cms router fence quite annoying really. No micro adjustment, so its fit, test trial, loosen fence, adjust, tighten down, test trial again, etc and the fence has very short adjustment lengths available. No way i can route middle of wide boards, just edges or close to an edge only. The clear pressure clamp guard swings around and simply doesnt stay in the position i twist lock it at. When changing the bits, the large spanner should be bent to help enable it to fit easier under large router bits. Currently the flat spanner is awkward to use and sometimes can be nicking large router bit edges. Next, the of1400 under it upside down gets clogged and dust seems to prevent the ratchet mechanism from working properly. I have removed the Festool guards and replaced them with i think better ones.
These are the most useful fusion 360 tutorials I have watched for woodworking by far. Pace is excellent, sometimes the steps to use a tool can go a little too fast for me but it's not hard to pause the video. After i learn all the stuff in this course i have to learn how to use fusion for cam. Thanks for these videos!
I loved to spend Sunday afternoon watching ( in-between the Olympics). Excellent job. Thank you. I have a BOW extension fence added to my dewalt tablesaw with WT1 feed supports which gives additional feed support ( in feed and out feed) . It also has hold down support on out going wood to prevent kick back. In addition, I had not been able to adjust the supplied dewalt fence to be square to the table but was able to shim the BOW FENCE (which attaches to and improves the dewalt fence dramatically) to finally , finally correct the left upper fence tilt toward blade problem . This addition really improved my sawing, Do you ever wish you had one of the higher numbered Incra miter gauge’s like 1000SE OR 1000HD ? What did you add for out feed support or in feed support to your table ? 27:58 I have limited space , Did you make a any additional adaptions to your jig ? I may need to sand my saw miter slots as you did ., .thanks so much Jack trotter in state of Idaho, USA . Lol, I have metric and imperial hex tools out of necessity. Thanks a third time !!!
Update, my mk 3 clasp kit , July 2024 . When unpacked it appeared to be missing the thread tap. I checked the Bd site for the kit contents and discovered the drill bit also cuts the thread as well. The drill is supplied in a plastic container and it is not obvious that it has a dual function. Personally I have never seen such a bit before. A note in the kit to this effect or a revised Bd video would have been nice. G
many thanks for your lovely videos always. I for sure will get this one, instead. can you please give your audience a suggestion on good quality CONFIRMAT SCREWS? I bought from eBay, was rubbish. bought from Screwfix not that good either. your reply will help many of us on here. many thanks in advance
Awesome content! Thank you. I recommend the Parf Guide system. Is infinity flexible, crazy accurate and precise, and able to do custom hole configurations - adding an exterior line of holes around the outside perimeter of the MFT for exterior dog placement for track guides, as an example.
I'm getting snipe on the leading end of my boards, & the adjustment instructions for the pressure rollers are pretty vague. I've tried to dial them in, without much success. Have you looked at or made any adjustment to them?
Good day, Mr Woodgrafter. This was a fantastic video. Please help. Im looking to buy this saw or the rutlands 255mm one. Which one do you recommend please. Thanks
You don't need the sub base, and there is no need to measure hole locations on the outer edge of the Incra base. Use the same holes that are used with the Benchdogs sub base to mark the hole locations to the Incra base, and drill through. You only need longer screws after that.
Good video and good to see a UK woodworker. Did keep on cringing every time you had hand near the blade with the batteries still connected. i would have preferred a better stop start button arrangement that prevented accidental starting and a bump stop in emergency. Does this version have the sawstop cartridge technology ? Look forward to checking out your videos. I do like the look of the festool kit, just a bit too pricey for ripping wood for garden projects etc
Hi . I have a issue when trying to create the joint it finds the centre of the drawer ( component 1 ) however on component 2 the cabinet base the only center point is the middle of the whole base . Fusion has not separated each compartment . I have tried everything and no luck . Thanks
It doesn’t seem like the miter bar under the drop panel is needed to be bang-on tight in the miter slot…since the miter bar is anchored to the other panel and the drop panel is just supporting the workpiece…(is that over-explaining? I think so…). BTW, I already had the “Build-It” system and just needed the center aluminum piece which I ordered from Incra separately…we’ll see how that works. I already had the Miter 1000HD, so in for a penny…
