Hey sir, I love the content. I run a GSP/British lab mix and a friend runs a Portuguese pointer. Planning a trip to Arizona this fall. Wondering if you’re into guiding in Arizona slam. We’re from New Mexico and run season dogs on these blue quail out here.
Thanks for sharing. Monsoons here in SW NM kicked up good last week but it was a dry spring, first broods were sparse. Hopefully the later hatches will be good.
Great day out with the dogs and family. Do you know if foreign hunters can go quail hunting in Arizona? I hunt over my GWPs in the UK and want to plan a trip abroad
Thanks! I believe so. For small game like quail, Arizona doesn't require any hunters safety course to be completed. I believe you can buy a 'Non-resident' license and you are good. Double check the regulations a AZGFD.com to be sure. If you decide to make it this way let me know!!
Perfect timing with your video! Thanks for the midsummers boost to reduce anxious bird hunters and dogs. I’m hopeful that monsoon rains help nesting success. I’m hearing positive things from Idaho; good numbers of chukar and quail broods, along with lots of insect production. October can’t get here quick enough.
Monsoons haven't been anything great yet...still hopeful. Winter rains were pretty good so Desert birds(Gambels & Scalies) should be in good shape. Mearns is yet to be seen. Wish I could make it up to ID this year. Gonna be tough. Rue expecting puppies in Aug.
Hey there, I’m here in Arizona and I thought the season was over? Last year was my very first year, kind of really getting into it and I’m really trying to prepare myself for this season coming up. I must’ve not read the regulations that well but glad that I ran into this video.
The season is over. This was from the last weekend back in Feb. It took me a while to put it together with life and time off getting in the way. Can't wait for it to reopen in Oct :)
Great job, Spencer! Looks like a good day hunting and the dogs are very well trained. Northwest somewhere with the Joshua Trees? Definitely makes me want to get out there in the fall! Thank you for sharing.
Great job as always Spencer! I would love to hunt with you someday. I'm headed to your neck of the woods in mid December. Maybe we can cross paths? If not, Good luck, and good hunting! All the best, and safe travels!
Another great video. This is one of my favorite channels. I do not read comments much so forgive me if I’ve missed this, but, do you shoot a 28 gauge? If so, what load and choke combo do you use?
Awesome video! I have a Wirehair litter right now from my dog from Ghost point Wirehairs - Male out of Tubbs/Cici. Female is from Bone Creek Kennel in Oregon I live up in WA
@@guillermosarria9509 Thank you! Jack is my happy accident. He was from a backyard breeder that had 2 from kennels in AL and NJ but they didn't register the breeding or paper the dogs. A friend of mine got him and couldn't handle him with 3 little kids so we fostered him and he stuck around :) He handled the heat so well that I decided to get another. Rue is from Unique Gundogs in MO. She is awesome. I will be breeding her here in the next month or so to a really nice male from MI. Can't wait to see those pups develop!
Rue and Pepper sure showing strong progression as the past season moves on! No doubt about “birds make bird dogs”, but only wild birds, fair chase make truly finished bird dogs. You guys in Arizona sure have it good with great access to my favorite birds.
Thanks Ron!! They are coming around that's for sure. Now if I can actually take the time to clean up the retrieve they will be super nice :) Breeding Rue next month. Can't wait to see the pups she produces!
Looked like a fun day, there's a quail obsession developing in me! Quick birds, kinda like Ruffed Grouse up here in MN but without the trees, and quail are a little smaller target too of course!
THE GUY THAT WAS THE HOST WAS A GUN HOG , WHAT A SHAM THAT HE WOULD BE A ASS HOLE WHEN THESE GUYS WON THIS HUNT !!!!!! THAT IS WHY WE DO NOT NEED GUIDES THEY SHOULD NOT CARRY A GUN , THEY SHOULD ONLY BE THERE TO ASSIST THE HUNTERS [SHOW THE HUNTERS WHERE TO GO]. AND RUN THE DOGS !!!!!
What a fantastic video! You guys were just smoking those Scalies! WOW! That Owl in that tree was one of the coolest things ever! I can't wait to get back to Cochise County this year! Awesome!
Thanks Jeff. I quit the guiding game a couple of years ago. I live too far from the prime grounds to make it worth it for the limited days I get to hunt each year.
It sure looks like with the desert quail you start with a large covey, they run and splinter off and you end up with a couple birds that get pointed. Still produced enough birds for a day well spent! 11:21
It was a tough day. We really didn't find much until the final couple of walks and even then they were spread out. That happens when you explore new ground. Sometimes you find the Mother Load and others you have a nice long armed hike 🤣🤣
I love that little excited bark. I Know we are not supposed to, but I do. I Have said that to Eric several times. My Boykin/Brittany mix does that. Thanks for sharing your adventures!
I was just down visiting in Sedona (from Idaho) and was able to do a little hunting between snow storms. Easily found coveys of Gambels. Me and my Pudelpointer were able to bag a few. Can't wait to go back!
Proud Auntie here! 🙋🏻♀️ Congrats, Eli! Uncle Jeff and I are so proud of your hunt, bounty, and skills. And we are even more proud of the delightful young man of character you are! Awesome job, Eli!
