Hello there, thank you so much! Glad to know this RX450+ is offered in Scotland too. Hope you liked it. It doesn’t have the hardcore and sporty vibe of the German competition, but it fits the bill for a lot of luxury vehicles buyers wanting to save a bit of petrol if they happen to do a lot of urban driving.
@@forevr_8 No worries at all. I quite enjoyed the RX 450h+, 48mpg I achieved with it. In the UK we don't get anything larger than the RX, so no TX,GX or LX for us sadly. It is quiet and sophisticated. In the UK people tend to buy German or land rover over Lexus, which is a shame.
Does the 2.5L (H7 battery) use a longer hold down bracket? According to costco specs, the H7 is 1.5" narrower. I was thinking of possibly going with an H8 when it's due.
Hi, I’m not sure about the hold down bracket, but unless you’re running additional electronics, I would just stick with what’s recommended from the factory, which is the H7, and it might be cheaper too.
@@forevr_8 Costco charges the same, $170 (USD) for either H7/H8. The H8 has high reserve capacity. Ultimately the differences are minimal - 20 min less reserve time. 50 CCA less. Can't imagine it taking a whole lot to turn over the 4 cyl. For either vehicle, these huge batteries are used because of the idle start/stop garbage. I bet a a smaller (both dimensionally and capacity) battery would work just fine if this feature is never used. Only trick would be getting all the wiring to fit. It's become routine to disable ISG every time car is started.
Hi Dave! Glad to hear you were able to do it yourself and thank you for watching. Enjoy the rest of your wkd and good luck to Team UK tomorrow in the Euro Cup!
FYI...It does NOT fit a golf bag :) I barely fit just a driver club..but I Still LOVE IT!!! Oh I skip the 24 model because of the FUGLY new screen. Mine is the coupe performance trim. The previous touchpad is perfectly fine! Whiners will always find a reason to BS.
I will say although it’s great never having to use the gas hybrid engine for short trips, but it is recommended to use the gas hybrid engine once it a while so that your gas doesn’t go stale.
Hi there, that’s an excellent point, thx for sharing. All plug-in hybrid vehicles have a built-in feature called, “fuel/oil refresh mode” where it will run the engine automatically as needed, but for sure, if one owns a Plug-in Hybrid, I would totally recommend using the engine to drive the vehicle at least once a week, esp. during winter, and to still change the engine oil every 4 months regardless of mileage. 👌🏻
I can’t speak specifically to the Toyota/Lexus systems, but I did do some work for Stellantis in the past for their PHEV models, and for their systems (which I suspect is similar across makes), the computer tracks the number of starting cycles, ambient temperature, how hot coolant temperature gets, and ratio of all-electric miles vs gas-only miles to determine when to run the engine and make electric mode unavailable. Gasoline can be stable for several months, and it’s much more important to run the engine so the engine oil can get hit and burn off any excess moisture and gasoline that gets into the oil supply since even a tiny bit of gasoline in oil can reduce the slipperiness of the oil and compromise engine protection.
@@forevr_8 That’s a really smart system. I haven’t seen the EV Mode be restricted on its own, other than when the EV traction battery runs out. Of course, I can always manually switch it to hybrid mode or even “Auto HY/EV mode”
Thank you. We got the Ultra White with Toasted Carmel interior. A bit conservative, but we enjoy it. Absolutely love the color combo in your review. Well done!
Recently purchased the 2024 convertible. Totally agree with your assessment of the coup looks better but the trade-off to be able to put the top down in the summer, spring, and fall is too much to pass up.
We need a front plate here in the UK too, but I have a private plate so at least it's short. You are driving my ulitmate specification. Pity the wheel is on the wrong side! Enjoy your beautiful LC. Here's mine, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7RqblbIeMjA.htmlsi=xWKE9oow_pZkXQd3
Hi there, yeah, it does. :( In some Canadian provinces like Ontario, the most populated province, front plates are required. Other provinces like Alberta and Quebec do not require front plates.
Good review. I have the '23 model in similar colour spec in the Uk known as the Regatta, and while the touch pad is a bit of a pain, although I hardly use it, the front dash looks so much sleeker than the touchscreen. However, I would have loved the overhead 360 camera which is a big plus. The interior and the engine are unmatched imho.😀
Hello, thank you, British friend! I do agree the older screen looks nicer and flows nicer, and I like the analog clock too, but that touchscreen is snappy and quick too.
Hi Jis, thx for your kind comment and for watching! Sadly it comes with just a tire repair kit. OEMs like to position tire repair kits as being “faster” to get back on the road, but the reality is they prefer providing those to save weight on the vehicles and costs. I myself always prefer having a spare tire.
Hi Ian, congrats! And yes, i would get the full front end PPF if you can pay for it. But have it done at a shop of your choice, not through your dealer as they will likely mark it up even more.
Hi Ian, amazing, congrats!! In what colour did you buy? I saw two white ones this wkd locally, and they looked so sharp. Lots of road presence and sounded good.
I found an H8 AGM battery from costco that says it fits the 3.3L stinger, does it matter if its not energizer brand if the specs match up? I notcied the Ah for the stock battery was 90 and the new one is 95, does this make any difference? Great vid, thank you for the help <3
Hi there, thx for the kind note. Yep, you’re good to grab that battery. It does not have to be Energizer since it depends where in Canada or USA you live. The 95 Ah is good. When you buy the battery, just look for a round sticker that shows date of manufacture (like 10/23 - means October 2023) and find one made in 2023 or better yet 2024. Good luck!!
Hi there, you have to pay an extra $50 for the footage, but they provide it to you on a USB key and I think it’s worth it for the memories and if you want to share w your friends and family on social media. And I do think it’s worth it. It starts at $99 up to $349 and you get to learn how to drive on a track and experience high powered cars thé way they are meant to be driven. 👍
Hi there, yes, good description, industrial…the colour does reminds me of cement. Interior is a bit similar but has a larger screen and feels more premium, though it is missing one feature I like on the Grand Highlander’s dash, which is the front passenger storage tray.
They offer white interiors in the US but for whatever reasons we don't have that in Canada... I'd really want a white exterior and a white interior one but I couldn't get it.
Awesome review! I enjoyed your attention to details, such as the brake lights during regenerative braking, which other reviewers haven’t mentioned. Excellent job! While I want to purchase a Lexus RX 450h+, I look forward to your reviews of other vehicles!
Thx so much, Dave! Yeah, there’s some cool tech, and these electrified cars need the auto brake lights bc of the regen braking. I almost slammed into a Tesla the other day bc of its strong regen braking. :@
I wish the Type-S had a DCT version. I waited a year for the release of the TypeS in hopes of an automatic as I didn't want to learn manual and have to use it everyday as a daily driver considering I would only have one car. I went with the Aspec w/ tech but wish it had more punch on the acceleration and wish it had wider fenders and those side skirt flares stock like it does with the Type-S.
Congrats on the A-Spec! It’s still a very nice car, but yeah, I’m thinking Honda wanted to make this Type S and the Type R more exclusive. They’d probably sell more units if they offered an automatic, as I know not everyone wants manual (and that’s totally OK).
@@forevr_8 nothing against manual, as i do want to learn it but id want to reserve manual as a secondary car rather than my only car. The aspec w/ tech checks off most of my boxes but the cvt is going to hold me back with mods due to torque limitations.
I just ordered this as an RX350H Luxury. Identitical to this car except for a black interior. I’m just not ready to keep plugging in and paying an additional $8-$9,000 USD for that privilege.
Hi there, congrats on the RX350h! I hear you, and you’ll find value in the hybrid system. I just drove the Lexus TX500h 3 row (still gotta edit the video) and it was very efficient.
You’re welcome! Thx for watching. Lexus’s headlight systems are really good and their auto high beams are also very sensitive (a good thing) compared to other similar systems.
Hi Brian, I don’t own this vehicle, it was a press vehicle since I’m an auto journalist, and it had Michelin X Ice which were really good and rode super quiet. Expensive but highly recommended tire.
Thanks for this video! I went ahead and bought a new switch off of Amazon and it worked! Also, when i took it apart there was all kinds of dry coffee exactly like you had on yours. My wife admitted to spilling coffee on the switch a few times 🤦🏽♂️
Hi there, thx for finding the video and glad it helped. It’s not your wife’s fault honestly, or any of our faults. The cup holders are too big and poorly designed without any flexible grips, but then again, this HRV was designed during Honda and Acura’s malaise era.
I have a 2017 HRV. The other day after I parked my car I pulled the break leaver up and it broke. I found your video and let me tell you that you saved me a lot of money by being able to replace it myself by watching this vid. Thank you!!!
Not painting the bottom fender of the car especially an SUV is practical not "weird". That portion is typical where the vehicle gets hit with rocks, pebbles, debris etc. Additionally, some of you "reviewers' need to grow a couple instead of always catering to and repeating every nonsense you hear. I have seen this vehicle in person and there is NOTHING wrong with its front=end appearance. Stop with the sillness or find something else to do!
Hi Mark, those plastic unpainted lower rocker finishers can fade over time and would look better painted on a premium vehicle in my humble opinion. If it’s painted, you can apply paint protection film to those rockers to preserve their condition. I also didn’t denigrate the front end. I actually applauded Lexus for taking a risk with the design, and that despite the radical design, it won’t deter loyal buyers. And also, everyone is entitled to their opinion on styling. Some like the front end and some won’t.
@@forevr_8 Sorry if I came off a bit harsh, it's just a culmination of my frustration with reviews basically seeming to want to cater for 'likes' instead of being totally transparent. I have had the outgoing iteration of the Lexus RX450h (my 3rd), and more than 6 yrs later it looks like new especially if you clean it properly. My other cars without it have not fared as well. I know sometimes people tend to ignore practicality for looks. One guy here even made a comment that the RX, "looked too utilitarian as opposed to "others" LOL. These are called SUVs (Sport UTILITY vehicles!) So, you can understand why when reviewers cater, it doesnt help. BTW, paint protection film gets ripped up in that location and is one more unnecessary step to have to worry about
Hi there, I had the vehicle for a week in mid-December. On one full change, I recall getting about 40 kilometres of all electric range with a mix of highway and arterial roads. Sixty km is indeee ambitious; I would think around 50 km would be realistic with some stop and go driving in the summer and no AC (if mostly highway, probably just 30-40km at most since EV mode is less efficient at high speeds).
That said, the value is over time, if you’re charging every night and using the car to pick up kids from school, do errands, go to the gym in town, or have a short commute to work, you could do all those short trips on electric power, which will help save a lot of gas and reduce emissions.
I got a fully loaded luxury version in the US and we don't even have the passenger memory seats and the side buttons to move the seat forward and back like yours does.
Oh wow, what a glaring omission. In Canada, we only get one model, a fully loaded one since we’re a small market and probably it’s for Lexus to maximize profit.
You are correct that the the US doesn’t get the front passenger memory seat on the RX (RX350, RX350h, and RX500h), but the plug-in hybrid RX450h+ does have the front passenger memory seat. Unlike the other models which are built in Canada for the US market, the plug-in hybrid is built in Japan. (Perhaps for all markets?)
Hi guys. I have a 2018 hrv / vezel, and I've got that parking brake flagging also. But I've also got lane departure lights, anti collision lights ets, and I'm getting notices to check my brake system. I've also got a problem that when I press my brake pedal, my gear lever doesn't release at times, and I may have to wait a bit before the lever is released. I've also noticed that my radar isn't picking up objects in front of me car. The radar is clean Could it be the same brake switch also? I've taken my car to a few shops, abs no one has been able to find the problem as yet
Hi there, agreed! I’m a sports sedan guy, but after I had to return this car, I was thinking to myself something like this is way more versatile than any sports sedan since it can handle as good as if not better than most, and it has more cargo capacity and sits higher.
Congrats!! It’s an amazing SUV. Love the engine, exhaust tone, and all the little features like the rear seat footwell lighting, under-console storage and the camera system. 👌🏻
Im almost done paying off school loans. Thought about it. But I'd be crazy to finally pay off school loans, just to start another 60k loan 😅 🙄 😭 very tempting but I must stay strong.
Hi there, I think you’re right. EVs are a hard sell right now. The Canadian government is taking the wrong approach forcing EVs on consumers. They should instead let consumers decide what to buy just like how consumers decided to stream movies and stop renting.
Hi Adam, when you shift the vehicle into reverse and the back up camera view is broadcasted on the screen, you have to operate the rear wiper washer to clean the camera. It would have been better to have an on-screen icon to operate it like on other Porsches, but Really useful feature during winter! Among mainstream/less expensive car brands, Honda and Acura offers this feature too.

For comparison..my $40k (OTD) CX-30 has a nicely designed leather interior. Heated seats. A heated steering wheel. A power driver seat with memory settings. A sunroof. Heads up display. Rear vents for passengers in the back. A decent Bose sound system. And it’s AWD. With its 250HP turbo’d engine it does 0-60 about a second and a half slower than the Type S. Now I’m not taking my CX-30 to the track and I’m not suggesting these cars are even close. Hell no. I get groceries and haul kayaks / bikes / dogs with that thing. But I find it silly that a 60k car (yes, the ITS easily gets to 60k when taxes and fees are factored) actually has fewer luxury / creature comforts than my winter beater. I love the look of the car. I’m a fan of Honda. I own an FK8 Type R. I would LOVE to get into a Type S. But goddamn, my FK8 cost 37k (about 40k OTD) when I bought it brand new a couple of years ago. The ITS barely edges that car out. As a “professional” with the desire to get into “luxury” performance, I’m not sure a rebadged Civic is it.
Hi Steve, I hear you, but they probably wanted to borrow from the Civic TypeR and not increase curb weight nor develop an AWD platform. FWIW, the front suspension is really good at making torque steer unnoticeable and it is one of the best FWD performance vehicles in the world with its Nurburgring lap times.
@@forevr_8 Nobody who buys this vehicle has access to the "ring", nor to any circuit. These are going to be street driven. Circuit times mean nothing. On the "ring", the average speed is way way WAY over 100km/h. You don't use the first 2 gears. On the streets, where 99.9% of the time the vehicle will be driven, 1-2 gears will be the most commonly used. It needs awd! That's why literally every one of its true competitiors has awd(namely the golf r and gr corolla). The crv and rdx is on the same platform and has awd. There is no excuse.
@@steve8803why does it need AWD? AWD has more weight, more mechanical complexity for potential issues, worse fuel economy, more drivetrain loss so less power goes to the wheels, more computer controlled systems taking away from driving purity, more cost etc. I wouldn't turn down AWD if it was offered, but I don't understand why people think AWD is an automatic improvement in a vehicle like this that has one of the best fwd platforms in the world. AWD has so many downsides as well like I listed, is it a crutch for people who can't deal with two wheel drive cars like rwd and fwd? I'm not sure what it is, but I'd prefer the lighter car with better economy, less complexity, more power to the wheels and the playful nature of two wheel drive
