Honda HRV (2016) Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) Switch Replacement 

I found my HRV stuck in my garage with the parking brake stuck on from the night before. It was showing all the same symptoms you addressed in this video so I ordered the new switch for $20 and was able to get back up and running in no time. Because of this video, you saved me a $100+ tow cost and labor cost from a shop or dealer. Thank you so much for making this.

I owe you a debt of gratitude. Your video saved me untold amounts of money. Reading the internet, it seems dealerships have difficulty diagnosing the problem, sometimes replacing parts that don't need replacing. OBD scanners do nothing to help diagnose the problem. I can see how it misleads dealerships and others in misdiagnosing the problem. I went so far as disassembling the switch. I thought a good cleaning might help, but it was clean. I checked all the switches. All of them operated properly. One switch has a very flimsy actuator. That's the only possible problem I could see. I didn't expect a new switch would fix the problem, but it was a cheap fix to try, and the alternatives were going to be expensive. I gave it a try, and, presto, problem solved! Much appreciated.

Thanks for this video! I went ahead and bought a new switch off of Amazon and it worked! Also, when i took it apart there was all kinds of dry coffee exactly like you had on yours. My wife admitted to spilling coffee on the switch a few times 🤦🏽‍♂️

This worked perfectly for my 2018 HRV. Quick and easy install.

Appreciate the video, ordered the part and followed this. Parking brake works now and light is off. My code reader also gave the code that said there was an open circuit and then an internal failure on the switch. All good now!

Coffee is what killed my switch

Hi guys. I have a 2018 hrv / vezel, and I've got that parking brake flagging also. But I've also got lane departure lights, anti collision lights ets, and I'm getting notices to check my brake system. I've also got a problem that when I press my brake pedal, my gear lever doesn't release at times, and I may have to wait a bit before the lever is released. I've also noticed that my radar isn't picking up objects in front of me car. The radar is clean Could it be the same brake switch also? I've taken my car to a few shops, abs no one has been able to find the problem as yet

How much did the replacement switch cost? Honda charge 300 dollars for it

Great video but I have an issue with this entire electric ebrake design by Honda. I have an Hrv with a 6 speed in it. There's been a couple of occasions that my car battery was dead. Just so happens that both times my car was sitting on a hillside and was unable to disengage it since it had no power going to it. If I could have disengaged it, I could've put it in neutral and popped the clurh to get it to crank. But thanks to Honda's shitty design with this, they prevented me from doing so.
