Hello! I'm Marla, and I am Raising Cain! Wife of 35 years, mother of 5, and grandmother of 6. I am a lifelong crafter who loves creating things for my home and my family. I share my treasures found in the wild (thrifting, yard sales, side of the road) and show how I use them seasonally in my busy home here in north Alabama.
Thank you SO MUCH for sharing God and Jesus with us. My husband is pastor of a small church in Ohio. We try to be a blessing to those around us. I thank you for your willingness to bring us into your home. I like it that it isn't pristine and perfect. I always feel when we have folks over that they may be "judging" my housekeeping skills or the volume I have of "things" in my home. It is actually uncomfortable for me to have people in to my home, unless they know me and my husband VERY WELL. This is something I have been in prayer about, showing more hospitable..... I am an introvert and I find being in a crowd uncomfortable.... that is just me, but God is still working on me, after 63 years ( my age) and being married over 44 years and being in Christian ministry for over 40 years.... your home is lovely and I love your crafty DIY'S
All of those thrift flips are fabulous. Can't wait for your mini patriotic decor house tour. The fact that your house is lived in is one reason I love your channel so much. No fake shots put out just for social media. You are real life. And when you tell snippets of conversations you have with your sons, I just howl! 😂 Wish I had time for crafting right now. I am itching to try some of these. But I'm getting ready for a big family reunion over the fourth (not at my house ...too many people for that...over 100 direct descendants of my parents...I am the youngest of 8 children, all with families of their own) Been going through old photos and making digital copies for everyone. I am looking forward to it, but also kinda dreading it, because it will be a reminder of what is long gone never to return. But my parents will be smiling from heaven to see us all together again. Your prayers for us always bless me. Have a great July 4th! 🇺🇲🎇
Hi Marla, I have a set of six chairs like your red chair. They were in the dining room of my Grandpa's house with a round claw footed table. They are in the attic of the storage shed, waiting for the right craft. Two are missing bottoms. The other four have, I believe leather bottoms. I am 77 years young, so they are very old. And yes, I still love crafts. Thinking of making each of my girls and two granddaughters a painted, decorated chair with a plant. Definitely can not be sat in! Love watching your videos. God bless you and your family. Have a wonderful week. I also, have a great grandson. What a wonderful joy.
Yay! So happy to have you here!! 👋😃 I hope you have time to check the first Americana Thrift Flips video, too! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TYyWa2R4Vy0.htmlsi=1ew_tm1eYialNOZw
These darlings are keeping me on my toes! I can tell you, it's harder at this age than it was when I was in my 20s! 😄 So glad you enjoyed my projects 💕
I just love your videos. When I see that you have posted one I can’t hardly wait to click on it. God bless you and your family! Happy 4th of July!🇺🇸🇺🇸❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank you so much! I love being able to make videos of what I love doing. So glad you love it too! I'm entirely too busy this summer and it's taking me longer to get a video posted 😄 I've got 3 more videos in progress and hope to post soon! 💕
Thank you, Terri! 😊 I can think of 100 projects at any given moment. Finding the time to put it on video is the challenge! But I love doing it. So glad you enjoy! ✨️
The carving on the chair looks like an eagle in flight.!. Missed you so much Marla ive been watching free lawncare for overgrown yards in Michigan 🤣love that box . You are gifted.God bless you all.
😄 You're hilarious! I have been one busy girl over here. Ben is in his traveling mode, so every other weekend we are on the road for kayaking (and some thrifting for me). Ben's dad had his 90th birthday, which I hosted at my house. My daughter Mallory and her husband are currently in Belize for a week and I've got their 3 kids. Note: I am slap worn out 😄 The almost 2 year old feels heavier every time I pick him up, and the little girls can think of more things to do than I can possibly keep up with ❤️
Hi Dear Happy Crafter Marla! I loved your pillow and the bowl fillers as well, and I love how you can figure out how to "make do" with what you have, so inspiring! such as the box with that primitive eagle, i just loved how you put that together . And imagine my surprise when you included by dyi , which you so gracefully supplied the images and inspiration for me to make them. thank you so much! As i told you i have watched all your videos. Forgive me for not commenting more, im an introvert. but i sure do love your videos, and your God given talents. God Bless you
Melanie, I have "made do" most of my life! I grew up in a rural community 30 minutes from anywhere. I watched my smart momma do all kinds of things with the supplies we had on hand. She also had the gumption to get things done and not wait around for the most ideal supplies to appear. I am blessed to have learned from her! I was hoping you'd notice that I used your photo in this video! Your arrangement is so cute, and I just love your blue basket. I'm happy you have watched and enjoyed all my videos, Melanie! Drop a comment any time, sweet girl! 😊 💕
Hi Marla, you are such a good crafter, all of it was so wonderful. You know you could open up your own little shop, you would do well. I love hearing your grandchildren playing. That oil lamp is beautiful, and I loved the way you displayed everything. Enjoy your evening happy crafter🥰and God Bless you too❤Brenda
You are so kind, Brenda! 😊 I've had the red oil lamp for so long, and I don't remember where I found it! I use it for 4th of July and Christmas every year. Thanks so much for watching! 💕
You are so dear...thank you. I'll watch podcast all evening instead of debate. We don't have a huge TV but the one we have is behind doors. My husband doesn't watch TV ever....amazingly blessed I am. I think I might try a blue and red basket.
I love everyone of them. I have a basket that I have been wanting to paint but was too hesitant to do it. Now I will paint it. Thank you for all your inspiration.
Oh, Marla like always you are such an inspiration to us. Tomorrow I will be painting a little basket just like your and let me see if I can find an old chair, I can paint red.😁I loved all your projects.Thank you for sharing your ideas with us and praying blessing over us. Sending Love & Blessings to you all!!! ✝️💟☮️🥰🩷😘🇺🇸
Replace your chair bottom with a wood round covered in some fake leather fabric from the dollar tree or thrifting to fix it wih if you want it to look the same
to be honest. If you produce at cost and remove the logo, the luxury market really isn't that expensive. The listed price is approximately 80% of the actual price. But the fact that you are *gtdupe* buying images and showing off your taste to make them think you are richer than you are is a very good thing
Your are nourishment for my soul! Your delight over your treasures tickles me so. We love the same things and it is a joy to watch you rediscover them with us from your thrift hauls. I had a puppy named RC and a kitty named Moon Pie when I was a kid! ❤love you Marla
Hi Marla, your hair looks so pretty. I remember drinking an RC and eating a moon pie, those were the days. All of your finds are wonderful, and I love that transferware plate. Just want you to know I am thankful for you❤I love your family photos you share with us your frans. Take care and God Bless you 🤗Brenda
Hi Marla, I love TEMU. I order all kinds of decor items, gifts for Church, and jewelry. I got the earrings that are a teapot for one ear and a teacup/saucer for the other ear! It's so cute, I showed them in a recent RU-vid video of mine. I was up in Huntsville a couple of weeks ago for our grandsons graduation. Take care! - tammy ⚘️⚘️
The earrings! Are you old enough to remember the spoon ring craze? In the 70's? I just loved them and recently saw some on Amazon! I love the bird picture. It is very sweet. Still waiting on that kitchen tour Miss Thang 🤗
Yes I remember spoon ring craze, and I have a few special pieces (pendant, earrings) that I got in the 90s. Still love that look! 😍 My kitchen looks like a hot mess this summer! We are traveling every couple of weeks for my men to kayak, and I am too tired to keep it pretty! But I will try to take good pics next time it's decent 😄
I am watching this on Father's Day. We are in Indiana, however, he loved RC cola and Moon Pie. You brought back memories in a Father's Day I got him a moon pie and RC cola. He passed in 2002. Great haul.
Some classics are just icons and bring back all the best memories, like RC cola and Moon Pies! Sounds like you made beautiful memories with your dad ❤️ 😌 ❤️
Oh my goodness, I bet it could be! 🙀 I know nothing about it, have no idea how to tell, but it's pretty. The comparative value I found for the original print alone was $75 so if the frame is worth something, I should make a xerox copy of the print and sell the original 😉 💸
