Interesting, but I don't think it will happen. They have a plan to build a large ballistic missile defense-capable destroyer. It could be named Yamato or something similar.
During WW2, Japan was fighting also with China and Russia, but as Japan lost this war, ironically China and Russia continue threatening other world with their communist and despotism ideology. Japan now surrounded by China, N.Korea, Russia threat, and thanks to the US, for their allied cooperation.

That's a beautiful ship, you can tell it is well-maintained. I've been on some American LHDs when I was a Marine and many of them had very rusty hulls. (only surface rust, but still)
