Hey Kelly, hope you are feeling better!! Can you please advise: as a US citizen coming from US who wants to live in SR for at least one year -- arriving at the airport, getting the 30 day visa, I need to show a departure ticket out of Cambodia at customs. Is it best to book a ticket to Thailand, e.g., before departing the US, or how do most expats manage that proof of departure from Cambodia upon first arriving at customs. Thank you!! All best to your sweet family.
Myself and no one I know comes to Cambodia and has a return ticket. Be sure to get an "O" visa upon arrival, not a Tourist visa. Just tell immigration that you plan on staying for 12 months. After about 2 weeks, go to a travel agent and they can help you with your 12-month visa. they will send your passport to PP and in about 10 days you will get it back, which Cost @$290. Thank you for your well wishes and yes, I am feeling better !!
@@AutumninAsia , thank you for this pro tip, Kelly, I had complete misinformation!! You have provided so much relief in my mind, and I very much appreciate you sharing a simple and clear path to stay local. You are a gemstone, thank you for your time and wisdom!! 😃
I want to move to Cambodia after I retired. But I don't know anyone. All of my families were all killed during the war. But I know my dollars will go a long way.
Thank you for your comment. No, most people here don't speak English but in the big cities and touristy areas they do. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching my video !!
I'm a homebody and don't go out much other than to travel and make videos. As for Transportation, I own my own Motobike (@$1500.00). But if you are not comfortable with a moto, Transpo is cheap. You can get just about anywhere in town for about $3.00. Passapp is like Uber and very affordable. My girlfriend takes care of me and the household. For me that is enough. Thanks for watching the videos !!
I can't speak for PP but I do know some things are more costly there. Your costs will vary to fund your way of living. Your wants, needs, and desires. $2200.00 should be plenty unless you like the best of the best. Thank you for watching my videos !!
Thank you for liking the video. My internet is free and comes with the apartment. My cell card for my phone is about $6 a month. Thank you for your comment !!
No one listening has any idea how much your Social Security check is, so saying you can live in Cambodia on it is kinda meaningless. $500? $1,000? $1,800?
@@wesgraham2262 sorry about that. I guess I was referring to the average SS payments. One can live on less than $1000 and do so much better than like in the USA. Thank you for your comment and for watching 🤗
My mom has copd. Wondering how much spiriva would be there? Maybe I can figure out how to get ahold of a pharmacy before getting there. She would just want to visit for a few months at a time. So maybe buy meds once or twice while there.
My advice is to go on Google Maps and look for Pharmacies. Many of them have websites and respond in English. I hope that helps and thanks for watching !!
I love your empathy. We are from the same generation when you couldn't fit a sheet of paper between a European and a Murican. Today I can't relate to young Muricans and most young Ropeans. But so glad to see us seniors still share the same humility and generosity. Welcome to Siem Reap 🙏
My desire is for a small frugal studio (maybe 250 sf = 23 - 25 sq. m) easy to clean & cheap to cool w/ac most of the time ? --- My thinking being most people don't want that ''small'' so perhaps they will be more plentiful ? For me - less is more & I'm a happy camper. --- Frugal doesn't mean I want to give up 'comfort' ! I want to give up the expense !!! --?-- Are they available for the $100 -- $120 price range - '''nobody ever mentions''' ? - - - Any advise ? > Dave (in Cambodia) - is supposed to look (?) - as several of us are interested - he will try to film some for us. > $50 -- $120 RANGE.
My advice to you is to go on IPS website and look at what they have to offer. They don't have many in your price range but you can get a nice studio apartment for about $150ish. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching my videos !!
@@AutumninAsia I like your videos -- Dave said many don't advertise in that price range - you have to walk around and look and ask the locals. Signs on the property and word of mouth apparently ? -- That's likely why we don't see many ? + Most people don't want tiny. > Keep em coming !!!
COST OF LIVING????????? WHY WOULD YOU…..WANT…….TO LIVE IN A SHITHOLE LIKE CAMBODIA?????????bub…..how is your Cambodian lingo??? Sounds like you’re floundering at best!!!
@@AutumninAsia Yes just going with the flow and enjoying life. Been out in Ubon Ratchathani working on some farm projects. Looks like your life is going well
Well, The girl in the thumbnail is not my girlfriend, yes too young. That is just a stock photo, My girlfriend is much older than the one in the photo. Thank you for your comment and also for watching my videos !!!!
@@AutumninAsiayikes, cheaper for family than single… is it because of lower the housing cost and??? Amazing Khmer woman that knows great deals???What else??? We have a family of four … likely lots more…
@@mimibigdy1917 I think the factors involved are: 1) I don't spend as much on rent. 2) The saving by having a Khmer woman do most of the shopping. 3)I don't order delivery food as much, and 4) I stay home much more.
Hello Kelly…. I hope you and the family are well. Thankyou for the video. What was the name of the hospital that you like? And where is it? Dave…of Dave in Cambodia lives in a $50 a month apartment with his girlfriend . Living a very simple life. My apartment in Siem Reap in 2017 was $100 a month. Nice and clean, furnished, with a large bathroom . Thank you and take care. 🙂 👏🏼 👍🏼 🇰🇭 🌴 🌴 🌴 ☸️
Sorry about that, I have been under the weather lately. My Wi-Fi is free, included in the rent which is quite normal. I use Smart for my Cell Card and that costs me $6mo. Totals... Single $950 Family $850 Thank you for the comment and also for watching the videos !!!
Thx for your video - what do you think a good budget range (total) is for a single male who doesn’t drink or smoke or .. much of anything really - pretty boring here lol.
Depends on what you are comfortable with. A $150mo apartment or a $600mo one? That goes for your other needs, wants, and desires. But I easily can live for under $1000. The 2 biggest costs can be your apartment and what kind of food you want/need. Thanks for watching !!
@@AutumninAsiayeah thanks. I did a pretty accurate budget today and came to about 1000 and your video helped me. One problem - big potential expense is health insurance. But I even have a line item in there for it @$150 - and also guessed the visa about $25mo. Amazed you can survive the heat without ac - does your landlord charge .25 per kWh? That’s how they make money and lots of them also skim electricity from you and it goes elsewhere.
