This is one of the most refined, nuanced, and grounded renditions of this piece I've heard to date, and the video presentation is superb too: it wasn't obvious to me that his music required such contortions on the keyboard, making the performance all the more impressive. I hope you find your way to more of his music, WFB is criminally underrated.
Great performance of this enchanting sonata. The whole Waldstein sonata evokes the image of Beethoven presenting the sonata to Waldstein. The 1st movements seems to depict Beethoven rushing in his horse cart through fields and woods for an appointment with Waldstein at his estate. The 2nd movement depicts Waldstein sight playing the sonata after Beethoven presented it to him. Notice how slow and unimpressive the second movement is. That might be just how Waldstein played Waldstein. The 3rd movement is how Waldstein praised Beethoven for his sonata as Beethoven was ready to leave. You can almost hear the high German accent of Waldstein in the melody of the 3rd movement. Waldstein was a fast and gregarious talker, and just kept talking and joking, not letting Beethoven leave.
Wonderful Baroque playing on Piano! Good clarity and flow withing the expressive bounds of Baroque not getting to romantic or out of baroque "musical interpretations" that tends to disrupt the purity and essence of Bach which you presented here. One hears in your playing the intentions very well. May I ask who your Professors in Germany were that helped you reach this depth in understanding of Bach? Herzlichen Dank!
Wow! What an amazing performance. This is my favorite keyboard piece by Bach. Your tempo and voicings are perfect. Most pianists take it too fast. I really think this is probably the best performance of 911 on RU-vid. I will keep your performance in mind as I continue to study it.
CPE Bach's music is unlike anything else, with his sudden stops and changes of rhythm and harmony. Your rendering is dynamic and exciting. Thank you for your videos and great musicianship.
Je ne suis ni pianiste ni musicien, seulement fan (je déteste ce mot) de piano et donc je trouve ici une très belle prestation, tres belle, mais la qualite du piano est médiocre.
