Are you sick of hearing "log cladding & stone fireplace" yet? Sorry... I'm useless at decorating a French Chateau. My neighbour parked his large 2-seater ultralight plane on his front lawn (for the 2nd summer) right beside my truck... talk about yard art. Now I want my own. 🤩 My taste in decor is slightly ... rustic.
Do consider leg risers on the bed..inexpensive fix.. then the tall tables will look great....If the head board were a heavier larger and darker item it would make the room look a bit smaller.
I like the idea of raising the bed and adding bedskirt, then simple wall canopy. Then use then tall tables. But think console tables instead of bedside tables. Consoles are a bit longer and can fill the same purpose.
Maybe Billy could use some of that furniture to furnish his chateau if you don't need them. You can always put some legs on that bed is too low to the floor then you can use the taller ones you like ;) or change the bed.
The marble top bedside tables are best. Build a frame to raise the bed. The bed does look lost within the room. Putting the bed on a platform will give it a better presence within the room and the marble top bedside tables will work. If you paint the platform to match the colour of your walls it will not seem out of place. One more observation, as you are tall and the bed is low, it will be easier for you to sit on the side of the bed and get up off the bed if it has more height.
Raise the bed and add beautiful long yo floor spreads with window treatment from top of ceiling to floor. Add large painting/mirror over bed with sconces on either side of mirror/ painting and use the marble top side tables. Lots of pillow would be nice also on bed.
First question is do you love the bed? Because that is important to choose the bedside tables. I like the tallest ones the best. They have a nice character. But they would need a higher bed. I would pair them up with a more masculine bed not so sophisticated perhaps with a black leather headbord or one with nice wood carvings. The wals I would do in a dirty green to set off the pinkisch tones in the marble. Have a nice day!
Phil you stand at the main gate when your visitors come that’s all that’s needed. Don’t pull your self apart for last year do what you said enjoy the journey like lightning does 🎉🎉
I love love lightening especially the way he talks to you thank you for showing him on your video again please give him a big hug from me your not so bad you’re self big huggles for you to best wishes from Lynda 🎉
Hi Phil, definitely first world problem. I would empty the room first and then bring in each piece of furniture one by one. I think the panelling is out of proportion to the room, if it was taller it might look better. Don’t have the bedside tables so close to the bed,
the marble top end tables are beautiful. they are too big for the bed. the bed is beautiful but too small for the room. the obvious solution is re-build the house with smaller rooms... or... get a bed that fits the room. the bed would do well in the upstairs spare room with the simpler bed, so it will be used. the big room needs a big 4 poster, dark wood and thick posts, possibly with a canopy is my thinking.
I would change the bed , you have some lovely beds in other rooms . Use the either of the wooden side tables to match and if possible raise the mattress to make bed look bigger and put it on other wall in front of fireplace
Thank you for acknowledging your "First World problems." You are one of the first Chateau owners I watch, to do so.... Perhaps to put the King size beds along smaller walls, to make them look larger?
Hi! If that's a king size bed it's not over here in the US. It's more like a queen. Do you have another bed that's higher? It's strange that the old bed is so low to the ground. As everyone has said, the cabinets fit it's the bed throwing it off. Just fix the bed. Lol easier said than done right? You sure have a lot of nice stuff to get rid of. Have you thought of having an estate sale?
So I had some further thought, ( I love design) I suggested the smaller cabinets as they look a better height, you don’t just need one main picture in the middle of the wall, you can accent with smaller ones either side, or wall decor, this will make the cabinets look less lost and tie in the whole large wall.
Is there any way that you could possibly raise the bed up? Honestly because it looks to me as if the bed is sitting too low. I think I would actually need to see somebody sitting on it to be able to decipher for sure or not. But I think between three different sets of stands that the largest ones looked the best but you could also remove the two bottom drawers from the medium stand so they would both only have one drawer at the top.
🍎 Phil, Fabulous, tropical fruit smoothie day! Love the way push, poke, move around and can't decide what to do with your fabulous furniture that would save you a bundle of time to go buy again all over and aggregate yourself again because you don't like the style, color, size and then have to do it again! After you are finished with your June's important business, you really need to focus on getting rid of the mold and carpet on the other side of the chateau that was added on. In America if a house has a lot of mold, they will tear down every wall and put new walls as it's a law because of lawsuits as they know mold grows and can go all over the house and cause tremendous, devastating health issues to people. So Americans when there's flooding in their home and the water gets into the home, if it's really bad, they will demolish the house and the insurance company will have to reimburse them for the damages or they will have to move, as the county will not permit them to live in the house. You have to remember mold also files in the air in a home and the germs seeps through the wall and the smell is horrendous that can give you asthma not to mention having to use an oxygen machine as in many cases with people with mold in their house. So don't take it lightly and ignore the situation with mold in your house. Thanks for the laughter when you tell people to send their comments and then you turn around and say no no no! Not having it! As it has to be your way and no other way! But then again I'm sure you're going to say next, "quite frankly I don't give a damn because it's my castle!" Have a jolly old weekend and don't do anything we wouldn't do! Cheers to laughter and happiness! 🌴
