Hey Kirk, i got a K1200LT again, we talked during my previous adventures with K1200LT's :-) my first one had the electric center stand, and i am dying to upgrade the one i just bought. you know of a thrustworthy source for that system ? i think i need the complete centerstand right ? the wiring i believe is present already in the loom, i'd just need to dig it out somewhere :-)
@kirksmotorrad hmmm. That sucks, the button is there on the handlebar though. Either way if you know of one for sale feel free to hit me up, I'll wire it up myself if need be
A partir del minuto 4,36 aparece al lado izquierdo el casquillo de intermitente con luz de posicion con tres conexiones, ese es el que nevesitaria para mi lt, que referencia o codigo de recambio tiene? O donde poder adquirirlos, muchas gracias
Many comments about the different thickness of bearing and which goes in which side. It’s mind numbingly simple, pay attention to how you took them out..
I have just changed my battery as well. You really don't need to break off this plastic edge. Instead, you can push the contacts out of the casing (they are lightly glued), then reinsert the circuit board, and afterwards place the contacts back into the casing onto the contacts of the circuit board. 👌
Your the best, wish i found your knowledge before i bought my 2000 1200lt . it has 160k miles now... if i would have been watching you it would have been easier to figure a bmw out....... so different from other bikes in many ways...... My next BMW motorcycle will not be tortured so much from ignorance. Just by riding hard. Thanks for the easily understood, to the point knowledge. Wish i had a dad like you growing up....
An excellent video sir! Sure wish I happened upon this video before I bought my 2003 bike a few months back. Admittedly I was enamoured by the sleek design. Truth be told, I feel kinda spooked in keeping it. I’m not a big mechanical guy so I may be better off with another kind of bike. I think I will sell my bike now. It is fun to ride, and, as you said, it’s absolutely top-heavy. Whoaaa! I fell over once making a slow corner in a parking lot. Kinda embarrassing. A slight gal from the hotel front desk ran out to help me right the thing. More embarrassment. Cheers and thanks again!!!

JIS vs stupid Phillips design. Vessel is the only driver you should ever use. It will turn a JIS head and a phillips head with far greater accuracy and much less chance of stripping out.
IMPORTANT! If you walk the bike of as shown in 02:10 make sure the steering wheel is away from you! So in this case to the right. The bike will come towards you instead of dragging or tipping you over the sadle as it wants to go to the right at landing
Great job! Only one thing.... 4.5 liters equals just under 5 quarts (not 4 quarts as you stated). If someone follows your stated quantity, they will be only buy 4 quarts which won't be enough.
Amsoil oil filters are made in China. I recently purchased from amsoil MO109 and right at the bottom it stamped made in China. I don't know if 2 years ago they were made in the US
I did the ABS delete, and your stainless steel brake lines. I love not having the lights come on intermittently while riding. Does this procedure affect reverse? I haven't tried using reverse since the ABS delete. It felt like the bike used the brakes to hold itself while using reverse. I didn't want to hurt anything trying reverse.
I have seen little slivers of metal like that when a circlip isn’t fully seated in the groove and when pressure is applied the one side of the clip that isn’t fully seated will shave a sliver of aluminum off the edge of the circlip groove as it is forced partially out of the groove. Given how that piston was cocked sideways. I suspect that is what happened. If you look closely at the circlip groove, I suspect you will see that part of it no longer has a sharp edge where it was machined.
