Sydney Uni have just tested Kelpies for dingo DNA and there was none.They will find the same with cattle dogs The USA is ruining the breed Your dog is a prime example His lips are loose,his head too small,not enough fill under the eyes,not enough stop,ears are not strong in the leather and are way too big.The eyes are the wrong shape
Loved my Sheila very easy keeper, never sick. I and my boys gave her lots of exercise, took her everywhere to socialize as well introduce her bicycle races, county fairs, children, soccer games, etc. This was my first dog and it was a challenge, but I knew what I had to do. She was also in a dog playgroup. She loved playing soccer, catching frisbees, but don't throw a ball, she did not like retrieving, or swimming. With strangers she would "read" me before reacting. I tell her it's OK, she then relax. A WONDERFUL DOG MY BEST GIRLFRIEND.
Have a 1-year-old smaller size blue heeler she's black and silver her name is DeeDee, Right when I'm ready to go take them for a walk they bark or she barks very loudly in the garage I can't get her to stop She had a bark collar on barks through the bark collar and I used my push button device that makes them shut up and she would still bark through that so I had to hit her hard today I feel bad that I hit her but she would not shut up and I have neighbors that are complaining How do I get this damn dog to shut up she's quiet all day while I'm home working from home but the minute I clock out and get them get ready to stand up that she starts barking and barks even worse in the garage it's very loud and very disruptive and I can't get her to shut the hell up Help!!!
I've had five Cattle dogs. When they were young and showed aggression towards people I just scruffed them, held them down like an alfa and soon they figured it out. Being consistent and the boss doesn't work for every dog owner. They aren't easy, and aren't for everyone.

Brilliant adaptable breed, but remember they are pure working dogs bred for stamina and to boss around big animals in a hot climate. They are incredibly tough and smart but if you dont have much land you must find a way to get them out and about a lot. Also a perfect size for most people. Love them. They are an icon of farming and blue collar tradesmen who take them to work with them and ride in the back of the truck. Old school "Mans best friend" but can also be "Womans best friend"
Thank you so much for this video. I have a little rescue, and one of his front dew claws broke. He is hiding under the bed, and I am trying to figure out what to do. I hate to make a trip to the vet and traumatize him further and at the cost of a couple hundred dollars if I can manage this at home. I am going to try the Epsom salt soaks. If this helps, we are good to go. If not, I will take him to the vet.
I have a 4-year-old Heeler, who looks exactly the same, he gets so jealous of my older dog which he grew up with, idk what happened all of a sudden. he will jump at her if she comes anywhere near me, also allergy season he licks his paws a lot, and scratch his face off.... any suggestions.
Love your taste in dogs. There's a load of information on Australian breed sites. Dingos,bull terriers,old English sheep dogs were all part of it. The dingo genetics are a bit vague because there aren't records of genetics. They are one person dogs. If you think he's territorial get a red female and watch the nutcase come out
Adopted a female years ago. Best dog ever. Loyal and leader of the pack. She had previously had a litter which calmed her down a bit. They are notorious for eating plastic which clog their intestines. Made her very sick and had to put her down.
Saying this not in a judgey way but he doesn't think you're the leader, he's still leading the walk but you're reducing the effect of it by reducing how far he can lunge, he's still trying to do it though which in his mind is all that matters. There's no communication to him on either leash, he likely has no idea whether you're pulling on the leash because you don't want him lunging or to bring him closer for protection. A glance at a bike is ok, but the moment that becomes fixation you should correct him to focus on you instead, that will create a habit of the next time a bike comes past and he's about to fixate he will look at you before fixating on it out of habit, with enough re-enforcement all of a sudden he's not lunging anymore.
He looks like he has a lot of traits a border collie has especially with lunging at the bike, in my opinion though you should try and train them out of lunging rather than using a mechanism to prevent it, as hard as that can be for breads that fixate like that it's pretty important that lunging is not normalised for them.
I love my heeler. He's my best mate, smart, and loyal. My recommendation would be to keep a pocket full of bite size dog treats at all times (you get used to it) for every good thing your heeler does. After a few months, your dog will be trained with little effort.
He's a beauty, just noticed my boy licking and chewing at his claw today. ☹️ he will not let me touch it. Hate to think it's sore and painful. Thanks for sharing your story 💜😊

You’re beyond irresponsible posting this. And wrong. You’re speaking of your dog. These dogs are working dogs and 1,000% need room to run around constantly. This is the most uneducated opinion I’ve seen on these dogs.
My girl blue is 3.5 months old and is set on pulling up floor tiles.. luckily I'm mellow about it as when she is grown I'll be laying new floor..but just so glad I didn't do that before getting her. Busy pup..funny..making my beagle pissed off is her most fun game.
i've got myself an Australian Shepherd mixed with blue heeler ,3 yr old female and omg the energy is none stop.. i use a basket ball with my dog and she loves playing soccer,we do it daily. also loves frisbee any kind of fetch and 10-15km walks daily .. such a fun dog
