My name is Carsten, I live in Denmark. I started collecting inexpensive guitars in 2011. Instead of just looking at them, I decided to start learning to play them in December 2019 too 🙂 Join me in my journey of learning to play the guitar 🎸👍
I put good strings on mine and I use it with an acoustic amp and it does a good job. I would say it has to be amplified to be fun. For me the action is okay since I am not practising sophisticated solos on this one.Of course it is not a high end guitar, but for picking in front of the tv or to take it to vacation it is okay. Btw there are some examples here on RU-vid where people get nice music out of it 😊
Love the cover, nice scarf too, really sets the mood !!! I purchased this exact guitar last month - its a beauty alright, highly recommend Jet guitars.
It’s a combination of playing along to a video with guitar, and a VOX AC15 preset I made on my Line 6 Pod Go. You’re really hearing two guitars on top of each other.
I was lucky to score panthera supreme :) they are all sold out now. Mine had some issues like bad frets and pickups soldered wrong, but for that price is still a no brainer. Also one straplock was missing, so I contacted thomann and they refunded me 12€ so finally I paid 330€ for guitar with sh1/sh4 pickups :D Crazy!
@@thegaindane coil split cable was soldered as ground, and output measured half than nominal. Two frets were not properly fitted and nut was too high. If I would pay 900€ I would probably return it, but for 330€ it’s a steal even with those issues.
Pray you don’t need customer service! I just bought a Js400 and it arrived with a bad neck and they won’t help period. I own 3 jets and was a huge fan but they really left a bad impression on me due to this guitar, I won’t be doing anymore briskness with them
Nice! That's the perfect shade of roasted maple for that colour too 😀👌 Sometimes they com a lot darker and it doesn't look as good (imo) Thank ya for the shout out mate! 😀🙏
Yeah, JET really made I nice one here 🙂 the roasting should not be too dark when it has black dot markers. The roasting on my Chapman is too dark for the black markers. They should have used clay dots on a dark roasting like that, that would have been fine.
@@thegaindane 🤣🤣 Well, you’re by no means a professional, but I really don’t like the sound. It’s thin and not sounding like a SD JB to me. I have the same in my LTD and it is a beast of a guitar for metal.
@@snakething I'm playing mine now - it sounds great. The guitar is very resonating and is fairly light, lighter than my LTD EC1000. The neck is great as well - a tiny bith thicker than the slim U shape I'm used to, but I got along with that one instantly. I'll be upgarding the pots and the bridge/taipiece, maybe the tuners, but they hold great. Great guitar! Grab one while there still are.
Unfortunately something strange happened with my Idolmaker and Thomann did a stupid mistake. I paid for the Syemour Duncan one, but received the cheaper version with the Framus own pickups. Clearly written on the box. On the guitar tag however it says the guitar is equipped with SD pickups and they are clearly not. But as a whole it feels a bit cheaply made and it corresponds with the price. I would've returned it anyway. Well, sticking to my LTD EC1000 with evertune.
I think you should probably check the pickups, because it was the same with mine. Framus 100/400 on the box, but Seymour Duncans on the hangtag. I checked the pickups while restringing it, and it has SD pickups in it. It doesn't say on the front of the pickups though.
@@thegaindane Damn, I didn’t think about that. It’s still waiting for pick up, I’ll tell them to come tomorrow. But the frets doesn’t look too good either - kinda yellow and not polished at all. Thanks for the hint! I’ll check the pups right away.
@@thegaindane Also on all models I looked there was Seymour Duncan written on the pickup covers. Strange…Also the back plate for the electronics on mine is crooked and not closing well, looks like this guitar is used or flimsily made in the factory.
Yes, I noticed mine doesn't have Seymour Duncan written on them as well, that's why I unscrewed both pickups while restringing it, and they have Seymour Duncan stamped on the bottom, and the right stickers as well.
I ordered exactly the same guitar last week and it will be with me tomorrow, yay! At first I was like - am I not seeing right or is this an amazing deal? I even posted a thread on reddit about these guitars. And last week they started to disappear - first the Philx X SGs, then the Diablo guitars and finally the Idolmakers. So excited to try this tomorrow. Have you checked the frets yet, do they need leveling?
This is an EPIC deal for sure. Everything is so nice about this guitar. Only thing that doesn't meet my expectations, are the small pots... But they work fine. I will replace them with some Goldo full size pots and a Orange Drop 47nF 100V cap I have in my stash a bit later though 🙂... Frerts doesn't need leveling 👍 Yeah, I noticed they started to disappear on the Thomann page shortly after I ordered mine 😅 I'm glad I got one. Happy NGD tomorrow 🤘
@@thegaindane Thanks for the heads up! I'll see how it sounds and maybe I'll change the pots as well. And good to hear about the frets. Hope I can achieve a nice low action. Happy NGD man! Cheers!
Help, old musician, trombone 70 years, age is forcing me to stop playing trombone. Brand new to guitar. Fat fingers. I need all the string spacing I can get. What type of/or brand of guitar has the most string spacing? Especially nearer to the nut? I’m finding very difficult to play chords without touching the next nearest strings. Why am I bothering with all this at 80 years of age? Because I may be old, but I’m not dead………………YET! I still want to have a little fun……before my metronome ❤ stops!
I hear you, mate... I have very fat fingers too, and I struggle with the same issue - I simply can't play normal chords 😣... So I just don't bother anymore. I just play solo's and melodies now, that way you just have to play one string at the time 😬... Power chords are great too. The string spacing at the nut varies a lot. My guitars go from 34,7 mm. to 37,2 mm. from outside E to E strings. 😲 most guitars are around 35,5 mm. The guitar I have with the most string spacing is a cheap Ibanez GRG 121SP with 37,2 mm. from E to E. But there's no way of knowing before buying. My advice would be to buy a guitar you like with 43 mm. nut width, and then make a new nut yourself, or have one made at a luthier with at least 37 mm. from E to E. There's also the solution to buy a spanish guitar with nylon strings, they have a much wider nut width.
Is it possible to purchase elsewhere besides from uk to avoid custom fees and taxes? I'm in Sweden and wanting to pick up a guitar from them. Any retailers in EU perhaps?
@@thegaindane yes thank you just saw it on gear4music didn't search before asking. A superb price also on a really nice guitar.. Just would have it more distressed but one can't get it all. 👍🏻
@@thegaindane That's bad because I really like the Epiphone models. I wish they would have Indonesian production. Anyhow, congrats for your channel, you have made a great growth!
@@albertmarkethinkpr1325 It’s two different animals. The Epiphone is a more classic V and has better tuners and electronics. But it’s twice the price than the Jackson. And mine came with unplayable sharp frets and a broken Epiphone logo on the headstock, and a horrible setup. (you can find the unboxing videos of both guitars on my channel) The Jackson feels nicer to play with the satin neck, and it’s half a kilo lighter too. And it showed up with no issues whatsoever.
