The data set is not big enough to compare BTC and gold or global liquidity. I don’t have a pony in this race. I’d rather see BTC succeed than fail, but I wish people would stop assessing it with cult like belief. The haters hate too much and the fans are completely illogical. You should not be investing if you can’t present both a bull and bear case, and I can’t find a bull that sees any possibility that BTC could lose. Here is Mark stating that Dalio has huge drawdowns while BTC has cyclical 70+% drawdowns. He asks “what do you own?” in reference to a well rounded portfolio. Yet, the vast majority of BTC holders don’t know what they own. And there is certainly NO earnings to back it up. Forget what Saylor says. BTC is not “energy”. It USES energy. It doesn’t store it. It’s only worth what people BELIEVE it is worth. Personally, I believe ETFs changed BTC in a way that new owners don’t want. I believe that BTC is no longer going to be searching for its reasonable value. It’s there. The ETFs have seen Grayscale, BlackRock, etc. buying massive blocks. The US and China own about 200k a piece. “Satoshi Nakamoto” supposedly owns 1.1M coins. They will be controlling the price from now on - which may be good, but it doesn’t bode well for the “decentralized” crowd.
Recently, I've been pondering retirement. I've also invested $800K on S&P 500 so i could secure my financial future. i need an approach to invest in Stocks like Nvidia stocks and ofcourse AI stocks that will align with my risk tolerance and financial goals but it seem to be bearish right now.
In this video, I think the point on Gold is not clear. Is it going up 2% or 6/7% or 14% ? If it has grown only 7%/yr where its sensitivity is 1.49, then the catch up will be worth it, right ? Great video otherwise.
Mark, you do a great job presenting. I agree with your analysis regarding the amount of return needed to actually get ahead. Heck we’re all struggling to stay afloat right now and with the prospect of a crashing market right in front of us it is really uneasy times. A lot of people are sitting in cash and bonds right now on the sidelines waiting for the market to crash. Well, that isn’t exactly doing a good job either. This is going to be the biggest topic in the world in the next year or two. How do you actually make money?
Having watched a few of your videos, I know why you are using the hurdle rate rather than the inflation rate to determine whether an asset is worth owning. Some listeners might not know this, and hence feel like they only need to worry about the inflation rate if they are not borrowing money to invest. Your investment plan is to buy assets and never sell them, and instead borrow money for expenses based on the asset values. That plan requires investment in assets that beat the hurdle rate instead of the inflation rate, in order to get ahead. You might make that clear for new listeners.
Every one of you guys talking about debasement is forgetting a very important thing: population growth. You have to subtract population growth percentage from money supply growth percentage. Why? Because if the money supply is not increased while the population is growing, there is less money to go around per capita and money would be tighter. So for stability, the authorities must increase the money supply to match population. You may argue about that which is valid, for property or assets. It's ok for them to go up in value. But not for currency. Currency needs to not gain value or people will stop spending, stop investing and commerce would grind to a halt. Currency is there to lubricate the wheels of commerce. "Crap, I want that new fangled thinga ma jigg but if I wait a month, my money will be worth more and I can buy TWO of them"
I think you are very much over estimating people's will power. Thats the same argument politicians use to defend currency inflation but there is no evidence that this would be the case. If i want a new tv or new car or go on a trip im gonna do it when i have the need not when i can afford double. Investing would still have appeal as people would still seek opportunities to outperform holding cash, just like they do now
if you bought the 2017 btc top, the QQQ has outperformed If you bought the 2021 btc top, you are underwater. Bitcoin only makes outsized returns by dumping on the next guy and buying teh capitulation.
Doesn’t The Fourth Turning cover these cycles as well? I need to get back to listening to that book. I’ve listened to Broken Money, Fed Up and just started Michael Pento’s book. Disruption is where the money is at. Very few companies out there doing it.
Mark, you showed graphs of the SPX and the Monetary Inflation Hedges versus global liquidity. In both cases, the graphs show that these assets are currently significantly overvalued compared to their normal relationships to the global liquidity, over the time period of the graphs. So, these assets might be expected to underperform global liquidity for some time, to revert back to their normal relationships to the global liquidity curve. Are any of the assets that have reasonably good returns currently undervalued with respect to their normal relationship to global liquidity? Those might get a boost going forward, from mean reversion.
I was saying they plan to tax your gains at astronomical rates meaning they are going to pump the market up and pump inflation up and then grab everything you gain. Who cares what your returns are with these kind of taxes nobody will ever bother to buy or trade assets ever again. Disgusting what they are trying to do. It's punishing people for winning even while the odds are extremely stacked against them.

the Kamala crew want to tax you for unrealized gains around 25% and also 45% when you do realize it, double taxes, there should be zero taxes on anything, totally evil, poor people are being destroyed by these taxes, they will never retire or get ahead. That seems the goal...they pull out the rungs after they gain control of the govt.

Funny how Mark here doesn’t address the fact that blockchain technology was patented by IBM and then sold to the NSA. I don’t know what the average investor thinks…but that sounds like a Trojan Horse to me.😉
I struggle with Ray Dahlio.. He publishes a book on principles and then fifty one percent of Bridgewaters investment portfolio is in china.. Certainly. Ray is aware of the slave labor, Certainly. Ray is aware that any company that has over fifty employees has to have a CCP representative On location to make sure that the company is acting an alignment with the party's ideology.. Principles has nothing to do with morals. Also investing in a country thats lifting 100s of millions out of poverty, while making the world richer isnt the worst thing you can do. He allocates capital well. Nobody that does that has a perfect moral compass. Even investing in coca cola is awful, so hate buffett too then.
Meanwhile in the US not a single client of Jeffrey Epstein's underage child sex operation has been tried, or even arrested. Are we to believe that he had no clients? That's what the FBI, DOJ appear to want.
