Wife and I just did the overnight experience this weekend. In short. It was an amazing experience. The staff and owners are simply top notch and the best at what they do. The food and drinks where fantastic. The cars were amazing inside and super clean. I've stayed in expensive hotels that were not as clean. Just simply an amazing experience. Loved every minute of it.

In 1982 my wife and I was on an antique car tour that started in California and ended on the coast of Georgia. Durango Colorado was one of our layovers and we got to ride the train to Silverton and back. I was on the tour as a mechanic and got to take a short tour of the shops where they were restoring the rail cars and engines. I am a machinist and certified welder and was offered a job there! My wife didn't want to move that far from the family so I didn't take the job! Big mistake!

Thank you for the video & the explanation of the Western Maryland RR. I also like the steam Locomotives and even though there are only 2 static displays of the C & Os's Allegheny (2-6-6-6) remaining, I am very partial to that Locomotive.

Check out the video I took of the morning of the first break in run on this engine when she was rebuilt at the Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad shops. She had some breaking in gremlins that day in 1988! But she has run great ever since. I never get tired of seeing this engine running or not.

Hard to believe nowadays, but it was named for 19th century artist, Godfrey Frankenstein. It really was a family name, not something Mary Shelley made up.

I have ridden this parkway many times on my motorcycles and driven it just as often in a car. The thing that stands out to me every time is how it always makes me feel as though I have stepped back in time. The designers laid it out in such a way that even if you are really close to a major city like Ashville NC , you have no idea because its always on the opposite side of some mountain so you cant see the city or any signs of it. For me it was a bucketlist kind of road so as a motorcyclist I had to experience it....little did I know how profound an experience it would be for me. My kids have been instructed to pour my ashes anywhere they choose along the 469 miles after Im gone.

I'm inquiring about times, cost, where to catch the train and how long the rides last. I'd like to book a fall foliage ride for 2 for two veterans. Please get back to me at your earliest convenience

I"m only using memory, eeeek! lol I"m ONLY 60, lol. Good luck with the RR!!

Why does my 19 year old female college friend Angelina Cardone from college who plays soccer and lacrosse know a lot about Finding Nemo, Toy Story and Deadpool, but not about The Great Scenic Railway Journeys, especially not this episode Durango and Silverton Narrow Guage Railroad?

It is my hope someday Wisconsin Great Northern can reinstall removed track from Trego northward and/or Spooner to Rice Lake, but I am sure the chance of that happening is next to none.

Nice video. I'm getting the impression that the loco is oil fired, not by coal. One veteran railroad talked about converting to oil. I said: Fine, if it still smells coal....

@@chendersonrailproductions704 Thanks for telling! I'm used to narrow gauge steam engines, once being the fire man, and they don't produce that massive black smoke. I guess a lot more shovels have to be used here.
