I know quite a lot of folks who have been and still are buying one TM 16K after the other, knowing full well that their latest one will break sooner or later (with emphasis on "sooner") but they somehow have convinced themselves that products like the Gladiator are "too expensive". I don't know but I'd rather spend 100 or 150 on a stick that will *last* and that can be repaired than continually spend 60, 70 for products that will break after a year or so and which aren't even designed to be repaired. Not only is this more expensive - it's also wasteful. I've owned and daily-ed an Evo and I've also "serviced" it and thus inspected its innards many times. I've also worked on or at least inspected the inner workings of many more "mainstream" gaming devices. Nothing I saw on the Evo would lead me to believe that this is a "meant to fail" kind of product. Nearly everything in there is removable/serviceable and the components themselves look and feel very sturdy for what the stick is. TM products OTOH.... let's just say I've worked on my TWCS (which I've since sold on) many times and the contrast between it and VKB or Virpil products couldn't have been greater. Same goes for even the TM WH throttle (also sold on), which not only looked *exactly* the same on the inside on my example bought in 2022 as it did on the very first hands-on review on SimHQ back when the WH was launched, but was also a bit of a mess with hot-glue spots everywhere and flimsy looking plastic parts (most of the metal on the WHT is more of a cosmetic nature, IMO).
I have Syrp system (for about 6 years now) and thinking of upgrading. Any other system you have tried since this video that might be worth looking at (I do day to night Milky Way etc) thanks!
Not a thing wrong with vkb. Lots of "problems" in this video are non issues.... ie, install properly. Chose vkb years ago when I was wanting to become a Rotorcraft pilot. Now, using the same setup, only now I'm a MD500 pilot, have it set up like it really is. Still no issues all these later. Wasn't going to wait 8+ months for virpil while paying at least 2x more. Hard pass.
4 years late, however I trained in Silat for some years. Yes you can spin the blade on the ring, however if you’re not used to using your thumb to stop the blade then you’ll get cut. Even though I’m left handed, it was taught to be used in my non dominant hand because the left hand was used to trap so that way I could check opponents with my right hand with the knife.

Any chance you can detail which exact Monstertech Mount you're using here? I've just ordered the Plus Base and UH-60 Grip and need an alternative to the VIRPIL chair mount.
Great detailed review, very informative, thank you. I never heard of this knife till yesterday when I was looking at what is a cheap Chinese copy and someone in the reviews mentioned the Provoke. When I saw the folding style it was intriguing so I ordered the copy to see if I'd like the concept. $23 Canadian and next day delivery for the amazon copy and i like it, for the price I cannot complain, it's functional and fun to play with. I think I'll eventually own the provoke soon.

If you’re not operating, commercially TBO is just a number. If you’re not having any compression issues or leaking oil, keep running it. Also, why can’t you just rebuild the current motor?
Yeah that’s true and overhaul/rebuild is an option. I’ve heard it’s not much more economical than a new 912iS but I haven’t investigated it much further yet. Warrantee is nice to have as well tho I don’t have one now. Still gunning for the 16!

I noticed that both of your landings were done with the Airmaster switch set to Cruise. Is that on purpose? I haven't flown mine yet, still building, but I'm curious if there's a "insider trick" that I'm not aware of.
That is an interesting topic. I have found my landings are a bit smoother with the prop in cruise but it does add an action item to your go-arounds to put the prop to take off. An argument could be made its worth a 'firmer' landing to have the prop ready for a go-around. I think it is also a bit circumstantial, if the goal is not a soft landing (ie. backcountry short field) I have it on T/O to leave no room for error there and have that take off bite ready immediately (extra drag can be helpful too). I'm open to thoughts on it still.
I don't really have thoughts on it beyond just assuming that landing in the T/O position was standard practice. But I can see that leaving it in Cruise would make the throttle less "touchy" when landing. Interesting to ponder, I'll have to try it someday.
The last couple of day I've been re-watching your reviews, as I've been drooling on adding flight sim stuff to my race sim again, and noticed you haven't posted in a year or so, and wondered why. So, too see you back on the screen today was kind of relieving. Hope to see more flight sim reviews and such, you did a great job on those! :)
Thanks for the honest review and especially the size comparision with the Virpil and TMWH (which i currently own). Saved me from ordering and then returning the stick. The VKB shop does not give any dimensions for their products. Got rather small hands and that stick would definitely be too big for me, so i wrote it off at that point already. Virpil one will be fine though.
If you link the controls together doesn't that limit the availability of creating virtual axis? That is the problem I'm facing right now. If I link my throttle and control panel together I have 3 dials that I can only use as buttons and not as virtual axis.
I've got the Right-Hand Premium and the Left-Hand Omni-Throttle on order right now and I'm expecting to get them both within the next two weeks. i'm super excited!
I hate to do this....but i watched a video with Caswell himself showing the knife off and he said you could deploy it like other knives with the wave feature. But the little paper that came with my Provoke when i opened it suggested you "NOT" do that
