This is my late-life journey to becoming a physician. I am starting at 44 years old and my goal is to become a practicing physician by age 55. I am counting on my RU-vid family of physicians, medical school students, healthcare professionals, and anyone who believes it is possible, for encouragement and accountability. It is easy to back down or give up when you're the only one who knows you have a goal. It won't be easy but it is better when you have people to support and push you. My purpose here is to show the value of social connectedness in accomplishing life goals. SO HERE WE GO!!! Let's do this!!! (December 9, 2017) TikTok: AntonioPatterson Instagram: instagram.com/studentdoctor_antoniopatterson/ UPDATE: Since 2017 I have earned 2 master's degrees, become a CRMA and Limited License X-ray tech, retook the MCAT (twice), and started medical school (fall 2022) at www.nyit.edu/arkansas at age 49.
I walk 10000 steps a day now, did it for a week. Needed one rest day and do the next week 10000 steps perd day. Determination is key. Need to get fit for medschool 😊
First You're 51 years old? You look much younger than that-wow! As a male in health care it is stressful so you have do whatever better for u and your 👪

I am so glad to hear this. You were so close to finishing. Would be nice to see you finish and make it worth all the time and sacrifices yourself and others have given.
I am so very proud of you. You are a source of motivation for all of us medical students, but especially to those of us who are non-traditional and minorities. I am so grateful I took my leave of absence last year. Keep pushing forward, and l would love to connect with you! (I'll be in 3rd year next year).
I’m subscribing to you because you are an inspiration and I want to see what you do. I pray you are in great health, and you will see your goals through!
The truth is brother: you already had an identity in Christ the LORD so a white coat never would make or break you, it would only serve you as a servant to the KING! Amen.
ironqueenfanful Hi in your last live, you said the last two years of medical school are harder than the first two years? I am ion the second year, could you explain why ?
The second 2 years are harder because you are doing everything from memory or either having to go back and relearn what you forgot. Some of the anatomy will come up over and over and you just have to know it. The microbiology, biochemistry and pharmacology are crucial for rotations and the attending physicians will give you a bad evaluation if you don't know your stuff.
I’m happy for you man. Take the time to heal, refresh, and go at it again, even if it’s a semester or a school year.Life happens all the time. I met premed that got pregnant in undergrad. You can do it!
As I explained, the withdrawal would have been effective at the end of the semester, therefore I was able to change to leave of absence because the semester has not ended. I am on a specific medical leave of absence so I can return when I am released by my physician. All schools withdrawal policy is not the same.
