@@thenovicenoisemaker I'm struggling to choose between a Harley Benton SC-450Plus Vintage and a Stagg SEL-DLX (or even a Stagg SEL-STD). I'm thinking about going with the cheapest (HB) because they have a free-return policy. So if I don't like it, I can get my money back and get the Stagg in a local shop here in Portugal.
@@thenovicenoisemaker yup. I’ve had a few. The Chapman pickups were pretty awful but upgraded them which made all the difference. If you can find one I’d recommend. It’s much more comfortable than my friends V1
Yes. That’s exactly it. Much softer edges and generally a much better looking guitar. Everything about it is better except the pickups which need to be changed. But that’s an easy thing to do. These are now quite hard to find but generally cheap.
@jamesc7720 not see a V2 for a while. I’m passing my Cap10 back Tom actually. He’s got my ML1 Traditional from 2017. Currently installing Dimarzio tone zone in bridge and Tone Rider blues in middle and neck. That’ll be my Strat
I don’t do anything on FB nor Instagram, don’t do covers and just play badly! Moreover, I just try and give people a flavour of what some gear sounds like, nothing to do with my playing
@@thenovicenoisemaker I think you’re a decent guitarist! I think for me the reason I do that is more due to the fear of criticism from strangers that comes with this platform
Sounding good and getting there bud, vibrato fairly coming along. Bit of advice. You looked a bit tense at times, like you were worried what people might think of your playing, looked like you were holding back. I use to get nervous infront of the camera. But then I thought to myself. Guitar is awesome and about having fun, fook what anyone thinks. I learnt to relax and let myself go and just go into beast mode when the camera came on. Next vid before you hit record. Take a deep breath and tell yourself, i am fucking epic and I'm going to slay the shit out of this axe right now. Give it the full Marty Mcfly pal 👍 🤘🤘🤘
Awesome stuff mate , your playing is definitely coming on , there’s a big difference now from when I first started watching your channel,, nice one Rich 👍👍🤠🎸
Yeah, as long as you’re enjoying yourself with the gear it doesn’t matter what the price is. And you did look like you were enjoying it 👍😊 Nice playing, buddy 🤘
@mitkomitev1821 lol, not quite true. I’ve had 39 Harley Benton’s including their cheapest LP style, this guitar is definitely better than that and some others
Great advice....have been selling guitars on ebay for 20 years and pack them up just like you do.....However ebay doesn't protect sellers at all...I have vintage guitar I sold at a fair price that worked perfectly when it was tested prior to listing. The buyer complained about several things and said it didn't work. Took it to a Luthier who said electrics were rusty/ corroded and jack socket loose....want me to pay £100 plus decks time to fix it...I have replied to his messages saying I am happy to refund him if he sends it back...He just keeps saying he wants to keep it and for me to pay for repairs....I know he just wants to pay less and is trying it on, As I took photos of the electrics which I sent him, as proof. I keep saying I don't issue partial refunds and he should just send it back for a refund....which he doesn't want to do and said he will have to open a case through ebay if we cant come to some agreement, It is a shame as this is the first time in all my guitar selling on ebay Internationally and here in the UK I've had someone dishonest. As it is I only made £5 on the guitar so don't want to loose over £100 to a scammer.
You know Highwood saddles? I put Jin Ho locking tuners in mine, swapped the Jin Ho Schaller style keys for the Jet kidney beans, worked! Might need a neck shim to float the trem, Jet cuts the neck pocket depth to deck the trems. I have a couple other Strats with floating trems so both Jets are still decked. Amazing for $200 US.
Thanks for this. Also a novice player and looking for a Tele style to contrast with current Epi Les Paul (Lemon Burst). Considering this or the ML3 Pro Traditional. But think the P90 pickup might provide the necessary contrast. As it happens I like the reverse headstock just because it’s not the same as everything else.
Hi Sean Nice to hear from you and thanks for watching. I’ve got a Pro Trad, very nice. I’ve had the the Standard with a P90 several times and they’re great. Can usually find them used at a fair price. There’s one on FB marketplace now which I used to own funny enough, he’s after just £225 for it
For packaging, it's worth looking into some stuff called "T Bord Floor Protection" - it's relatively cheap and what builders put down to protect floors from impact damage. It's only a couple of mm thick and cheap enough to line the box with. Also any excess you can roll up and use as support for the top/bottom and sides as much better than bubble wrap for the outer 'shell'.
Brilliant amp for the money, with effects loop and reverb buit in, cant beat it for the money. I am loving my vox ac4 for home use since i upgraded the tubes and put a alinco gold in it. Brilliant amp and very simple to use but no effects loop or built in reverb, and i have paid the price of your amp in upgrades but its a keeper now. What happened to your gp100 , not heard anything since you brought it. You could use effects in that for your amp too.
Great advice Rich. On the flip ide I saw a MIM standard strat (Ebay) that had dodgy/fuzzy pictures but when I did zoom in I could barely see it had hipshot locking tuners and a Gilmour switch. It had a couple of very minor scratches, checked the seller feedback and that was good. I put in a bid at the start price and low and behold won it for that price. I'd taken a punt ... anyway guitar turns up two days later well wrapped and inside a good quality hard case (this had not been listed). So guess the seller didn't take care to list it correctly and I got a damn good guitar at a really good price along with those extra goodies.
Sold !!!!! That's it - i'm getting one. I also want to get the Harley Benton G412A cabinet. However, I'm not sure if I should pay the extra for a Marshall 412 ????? Any advice on the cabinet from anyone etc would be most helpful. Then I can throw my 2 month old Boss Katana 100mk2 into the skip where it belongs.
Tis a lovely guitar that. Love those, love my EMG one. Bloody well put it at the house we're moving to and I've just got my silverburst strat with nines on it. Don't press too hard and you're ok, type thing. When we move properly, I'll restring her and get back to it. Happy days mate! Take care!
@@thenovicenoisemaker Well, we're taking things over in dribs and drabs. I have a fantastic new studio that will be set up into one of those dream podcast type things with all the guitars on the back wall, in camera. About midway through August, mate, for the final big stuff!
Got myself a JS32 as my first guitar. It was a lot of money for me but I got to compare it to other models from different brands in the store - and the Jackson pickups were just so much better! Also appreciate that all Jackson guitars just have "Jackson" put on their headstocks, no budget line markings or anything.
Bit of advise for guitar newbies and I say this as my pal got scammed. Some people on ebay try to sell the old mexican standard strats as the new player series. My pal sent me a pic saying just scored a player series for £350. The base plate(neck heel piece of metal) had the F logo on it but I counted the frets and it only had 21 instead of 22 that's on a player series. The seller changed the base plate. Also if a seller sells you a strat claiming the pickups have been upgraded. Don't buy unless you can see a pic of the actual new pickups, the back of the pickups in particular. I once bought a player series when it was claimed it had a set of texas specials on it but when I took the pickguard off it was player series pickups. I phoned the seller to point this out and his exscuse was he bought it second hand and thought it was texas special 😂😂 I sent it back and got a refund and postal refund. Hope that helps some peeps.
Wow great video Rich, very helpful as I am about to dip my toe into the ebay world and shift some of my guitars. ( It all sounds exhausting. ) As for packing - I purchased a new Ibanez S1070 last week new from a major UK retailer - they shipped it in a crappy gig bag with minimal paper wrap, I could feel it moving in the box....smashed to pieces. Heartbreaking beautiful guitar a well......so sad.
@@thenovicenoisemaker I know right !!!! My heart is broken ..... I understand things can slip through quality control when you are busy trying to orders out of the door, so I wont name and shame the retailer (I'll text you). What an incredible guitar tho....for a brief short moment I was holding the holy grail of guitars.....the fretboard.... WOW.
@@thenovicenoisemaker The original supplier cannot get stock for a few months but another UK dealer has the blue version for £100 less - its tempting but I think I will need to pay the extra hundred pounds and get the tiger eye/charcoal finish.......it was better than anything I have played before.
Nice and fat and creamy like a proper neck pup should sound. I would blues the shit out of that all day. Was that threw the tube 15?. Nice playing pal, hate the vids when you just see peeps shredding. That was a nice slow blues.
Too kind Derek, thank you. It’s a proper bluesy pickup for sure 👌🏻. This was through the Blackstar, got some nice tones from this little amp. Witchcraft really for 5.5” speakers in a tiny cab. It’s on 1 watt mode, on 40 it’s flipping loud!
@@thenovicenoisemaker sounded brill. Sadly I'm going to be out of guitar action for a while. Dislocated my shoulder a couple days ago and done some bad damage to the tendons and ligaments in my shoulder. To make it worse i had an operation on the same shoulder 4yrs ago after a industrial accident. So i will just be watching other peeps playing the guitar on the tube for the foreseeable future 😒🙄. Keep rocking pal
Alright Rich! Good advice all round. Yeah, Reverb is super hit and miss. I've had things sell almost instantly, and then some items take months. Usually I find it's the 'big' brands that sell quickest, see it with guitars, amps AND pedals. Can't sell a Jet for love nor money right now, but those kind of brands and the 'internet' brands tend not to hold their value so some management of expectations is needed. It can be a waiting game on Reverb, but Ebay does tend to shift stuff a lot faster.
Hey buddy how’s it going? The budget brands go for peanuts unfortunately. Which model Jet is it? Definitely expectation management is key. EBay bugs me because of reasons stated but they certainly sell. You’re not coming up in my feed, are you still posting at the moment?
@@thenovicenoisemaker Yo! It's been an absolute clown fiesta over here the last few months bud - you've not missed any uploads, but I've got a few bits to show people soon :D It's a Jet JS800. Nice guitar, but just isn't getting played right now! Hope all is well with you and the lovely wife?
Great video and wise words Rich. Glad you had a good holiday. Andertons sell their guitar shipping boxes ready made up with packaging already inside for £9.99 on their website. They are excellent 👍🏻
