And on the reinforced elbowpads: are there uniforms that incorporate slots for adding padding? Like, as in foam? I mean that's gotta be pretty cushy for a soldier but... would be nice :)
Yes there are uniforms that incorporate elbowpads, but incorporating kneepads is far more common. It's usually plastic with foam on the inside. They work much better incorporated in the clothes rather than worn on the outside. The skateboard style ones come off really easy in combat.

I remember when these boots hit cash sales in 88 i was at pendleton with 3/1 they sucked the heels would come off i only bought one pair i continued to use the boots i was issued in boot camp with the waffle sole till 87 when we were allowed to wear the jungle boots in garrison
In 1992 or 93 they fixed the heel issue by making the sole and heel all one piece of molded rubber. Not sure why they didn't do that from the beginning
The patch on the left sleeve is the one of the Bulgarian Armed Forces and the tab above the left front pocket is the bulgarian national flag. Military branches wore different camo (or non-camo) patterns, so there was no need for branch patch on the uniform. The random button beneath the patch on the left sleeve (and the other identical one on the right sleeve) is used to hold the sleeve when you roll it up for the summer (or hot) periods. There is a strap inside the sleeves that reviews itself when you roll them up. In my opinion, this uniform is the most comfortable from the recent 3 (the older "soviet" one and the 2018 model). But the 2018 model's pattern works better for concealment, especially if it is worn a bit and the colors are not so freshly bright out of the factory. Unfortunately the 2018 model does not have rolled sleeve straps and if you wear it, you either go long sleeve in the summer or use a T-shirt.
Great video and interesting camouflage. Mexico also used the duck hunter pattern in the 1970’s which is interesting to find. Any particular item you’re still looking for to add your collection? I’m always curious to know what other collectors are looking for. Keep up the great work.
Well, a real piece of Urban-T/T-Block would be cool though genuine pieces are ridiculously expensive. I've also been looking for the Romanian M1990 camo pattern used by their police forces which is purple/blue instead of the usually green, brown and orange colors.
The reason for the short sleeves was to stop their arms from dragging on the floor !! 😂🤣(That's a joke !! 😆)The little internal pocket was as you said for a pocket knife.. by the size of it probably the 'Swiss Champion' ! lol
Awesome ! ..I have a few of these !! ..the backpack is cool too ! ..the story goes that the Czechoslovakian army inherited the original pattern off the Germans stored in their warehouses after WW2 and it ended up being bought by the Swiss Army ..In Switzerland that red works really well so I have heard.. also it used to mess with the night vision goggles of the time.. as red becomes grey using those old 'Noctovisor' The whopping great hood was used whilst wearing a helmet !! the rear pouches were used for medical kit.. food and a knife fork and spoon kit ! The funny clip on the front was for the helmet ! ..awesome !! Wonderful that you have the rank slides.. never seen those before. There are amazing forums online about these TAZ jackets !!
A waterproof wax/dubbin will soak into those boots and regenerate the leather !! Minerva was a Roman goddess of wisdom ..awesome !! ..I bet she was hot !! 😆😂
Those boots are real beetle crushers !!.. awesome !! I wore gaiters like that in the Royal Marines Reserves when I was training.. and they really do support your ankles on uneven ground carrying heavy waterlogged kit in the 'British summer' !! lol ! Great review !!

Great review here bro !! ..that's a keeper.. as the jackets are in abundance in small sizes but very rare in a larger size like this one ! ..awesome !!

Korean here, yes its bit odd that Ski Parka is bit more greenish. mine is more greener then summer pattern although its used in cold weather like winter or late fall.
I found multiple military shirts and uniforms in a thrift store or “ukay ukay” I got 2 korean uniforms. A tonghab from Sgt. Kim who belongs from the 3rd army corps in Korean army. Another is granite b from a lieutenant. You can get military uniforms in ukay ukay for $1 to $20 but you have to dig around. I got both for $2-$3 bucks. Ukay Ukay is a thrift store where you need to dig around until you get what you need ans they are mostly used. Philippines 🇵🇭
That sounds pretty cool. One day I'll have to make a trip to one of those countries that has as huge surplus market like Vietnam, Thailand or the Phillipines so I can get some rare uniforms at a cheap price.
@@GearReview23 yeah, asian countries have a stockpile of uniforms. Mostly because former servicemembers or vets prefer to part ways with their uniforms. I recently got a dress blues with the awards and rank boards intact bearing the rank if colonel. I got for $25
I have the field pants. Early pants that aren't ripstop. Literally love them. I want a field jacket now! The material is a "baumwolle" material like mix & seems very similar to my German flecktarn jacket in material... very similar materials actually almost identical weave & feel, weight. Belgium material maybe being a touch lighter.
been trying to hunt some of these down myself, did the same as you've described, but the last few months seem to be absolutely horrible for stock availability - sizes like 27.5 are too small. I'd suggest getting your hands on the similar zipped pilot boots aswell, they're something I've personally worn and are quite nice
@@GearReview23 yeh, if you do go and buy any, they should be **cheaper** than these paratrooper boots you've bought. They also have their own history of designs, the most recent pair having identical soles to the shoes in this video, and the older ones having goodyear welted black soles. I often find the term "nva fliegerstiefel" helps to find them a bit better, and theres a few other terms too
