U.S. Military Combat Boots, Mildew & Water Resistant, Direct Molded Sole 

I found a new pair of 90's jungle boots (RO Search) and just got a pair of these all leathers for fall/winter. I love that this sole has the look of the Panama sole with better traction. My all-leather ones from 93 came in a Altama box, added better insoles and elastic laces for more comfort.

Was issued them summer 2003 ,Army FT Benning , hot as hell in summer , we were issued 2 pairs and you rotated them out every day or every other day , went to jump school with them in oct 2003 and by then were very broken in and were great ankle support for jumps , still own a pair from basic , feet dont sweat in them and they are one of the few true waterproof boots , the tread was called jeep tire , they were phased out when ACU camo became prominent , they run narrow I usually wear an 11n but 10 1/2 r in my ro search boots

I got my first pairs of these (8-1/2 W) in Basic Training at Ft. Knox, KY in the summer of 1988. Fairly comfortable once broken-in, but HEAVY. We had to mark one pair with a dot of paint at the top rear of the padded collar, and/or with a knot in the lace at the base of the instep, so that the drill sergeants could tell if you were alternating boots every other day like you were supposed to, so the boots you sweated in yesterday would have a full day to dry out before you switched pairs tomorrow morning. That heavy black cowhide always got super hot in the summer, I remember standing in formation for an hour at high noon and watching the polish literally melt and scorch off the toes of my boots from the heat of the sun. "Black Cadillacs" was just a sardonic joke, in that they were the only kind of transportation that a recruit could own, or that a new 18-year old private could afford. In the same vein, we also called our boots "Leather Personnel Carriers."

Got a pair in nov 1987 going through af basic training. They worked well and were comfortable.

The "PJ" is the manufacturer code for Altama. Ro-Search is the Maker of the sole treads only but the Leather upper and the stitching/DMS procedures are done by the respective contractors such as Altama, Wellco, and Belleville to name a few.

I don't know the name of the style of the sole, but i have seen that they call them "Jeep tire sole"
