Welcome to my channel! This channel mostly deals with fire alarm related stuff as that is a primary interest of mine (not to mention my career), however I do have some other stuff on here too, such as railroad crossings and traffic signals. I'm an OCD/Asperger's/Tourette's mix, which is mainly why I'm interested in what I'm interested in. If you have anything else you want to know, just ask!

In addition to the problems you mentioned I'd say there's another: the fact that not every signal across the entire building is synchronized, since you can hear some ASes sounding earlier than others. Given the fact that this system is so large it has NAC extenders the only course of action I can recommend to ensure all of the NAs are synced together is to replace all the existing NAC extenders with Potter's PSN-series, which can not only output the Wheelock Sync pattern but can also follow each other, making it ideal for installations like this one (though according to what I just read Wheelock's own PS-8-LP also has Wheelock Sync & follow capability, so there's another option). I'll still never understand the reason for some Simplex systems having Wheelock alarms: sure I can understand for outdoor applications since Simplex hasn't always made their own outdoor devices, but why inside? Simplex has made indoor alarms since basically the start of their fire alarm career, so why wouldn't they use use their own instead of some third-party manufacturer's? 6:56 I take it that that's one of the rooms with non-functioning NAs, right? 8:57 Not every day you see a horn/strobe & remote strobe right across from each other like that! (in perfect sync no less!) 9:41 Funny how it seems like the meditating person in the "Determination" "frame" (which don't really fit together) is holding the RSS in their left hand with the way it's mounted! 9:53 Well that's quite a big, spacious, & open "main lobby" isn't it? 10:04 Ah yes, the classic "buzz, buzz, buzz" of an older Simplex annunciator: I kinda miss the days when panels & annunciators use to buzz like that: definitely more of a gentle sound than what you get with piezos. Is that a Secutron security keypad I see next to it? (which seems to be awful chill with the alarm going off despite its fire alarm counterpart/neighbor annunciating the condition) 10:22 Interesting how they went with the kind of wall material you sometimes find on the outsides of houses (for lack of a better way to describe it). Also yeah, that outdoor strobe is _definitely_ in need of replacement given how worn-out it is! 11:02 Is that an emergency stop button I see below that AS? (in place of where a pull station likely should be. There also appears to be an emergency exit door sign below it as well (albeit mostly blocked by another sign in front of it) 11:12 If one listens closely, the sound of the panel's relays clicking to both pulse & synchronize the alarms is audible (though when it comes to the latter part how _are_ they synchronized? Do the NAC extenders have Wheelock Sync built-in or do they all have Wheelock DSMs attached? (though that would likely make it impossible to have every single NA synced together, as heard in this video).

@@TheCarson116 @06:56 is one of the areas that signals were not functioning. @09:53 The lobby is huge, and as big as it is, there are only two signals in it (horn/strobes). @11:12 It's not the panel itself you hear, it's the Wheelock power supply that's to the right of it (behind the door to the room).
@TheCarson116
@TheCarson116 2 месяца назад
@@weatherdan882002 Ah okay, that's what I figured. Huh, how about that. Ah okay: makes sense since I very much doubt a Simplex system would be capable of Wheelock Sync, which is supposedly what that clicking pattern is of.

@@TheCarson116Most modern Simplex systems, including the 4100U, have Wheelock sync built in. Wheelock signals are the only non-Simplex devices that are listed for use on Simplex panels and with SmartSync. Wheelock horns will not sync perfectly on SmartSync (the Wheelock horns will be on when the Simplex ones are off) but Wheelock strobes will. This means that it is very common to see Wheelock remote strobes or speaker/strobes used on Simplex systems as a cheaper/ more flexible alternative. They are sometimes even used along side Simplex signals.

Seems to be having sync issues between NACs and power supplies (devices on the same NAC circuit will sync but no two NACs sync with each other). May in fact even have something to do with the issue you described in the description.
@aerhardt
@aerhardt 2 месяца назад
My middle school had this problem. It was a Simplex 4100U system but with voice evac. The voice evac was obviously synced everywhere but the strobes were not synced between NAC’s. The original part of the school was built in 2008 and they had additions in 2009 and 2018. The sync problems only exist in the 2008 parts of the school. They are Simplex SmartSync speaker strobes. I think the problem is that each NAC extender is giving out its own sync signal. They are not wired/programmed to coordinate with each other.
@achannelwithnopurpose1977

@@aerhardt The best way to fix is to connect the nac panels to the RUI or IDNet circuit and reprogram the master controller (the panel) so that the master controller outputs a master sync command and the nac panels follow the master sync command’s sync pattern.
