Greetings from California. I reside in a agricultural area where crop dusters may be present at any time of the day, as well as Life Flight helicopters. If I'm flying my drone, and I can hear an aircraft in the area, I immediately ground my drone ASAP. There is nothing that important that can't wait until another time to fly.
The can find time to pass all these drone laws but cant do anything about knife crime illegal boats or electric scooters that kill far more people a year then a drone do we even have police numbers to police this lol
Auditors are simply people wanting a hostile reaction for views. They are causing alarm and should be prosecuted depending on their interactions it needs to stop before it damages our rights to fly Great video well done
If they ban chinese drones, then it bans everything that can spy, chinese phones, cctv systems, telecoms components, silicon chips from china and everything they are in. Idiots they are harmless!!!!!
I got a Community Protection Warning for flying my drone in the countryside with no one other than my brother with me. its not a no fly zone and i always respect the CAA regulations. They said I'm issuing you a CPW for flying a drone and posting the footage on RU-vid. My drone is mini 3 pro 249g and my videos are just me walking my dog and making a song about my walks. We are not safe with this sort of police misuse of powers. I also have the video of my interaction with the police. please look at my videos i only have 4 but its got me in trouble.
Having had my Drone seized this week due to a neighbour who refuses to accept a Drone flying around the area. Police turned up in response to this neighbour claiming I have been "harassing" him by flying in free unrestricted airspace over land at the back of our properties. Since starting to fly 6 weeks ago, I've had my front door forced open by a neighbour accusing me of stalking his daughter, this neighbour after I called the police would not make a formal complaint as the Drone logs show a completely different story - if they made a formal as I want them to, they'd incriminate themselves to perjury. This neighbour has also told other neighbours in public WhatsApp group that I have been flying in his garden and peeping through windows when the Drone has not been below 35metres. Another neighbour has twice libelously and publicly claimed my MINI3 is being flown illegally and without Section 16 Authority!! Same neighbour has falsely accused me of endangering an Air Ambulance that passed 700m away while I remained static. Same neighbour has accused me of invasion of privacy. Same neighbour is now accusing me of harassment while flying around the back of our properties below the top of our 8ft fences - in other words keeping low and without intent to distress. He can hear the Drone but cannot see nor can I see them. Same neighbour reported me to Planning over a legal Permitted Development Summerhouse I was building in the garden - he loves causing me problems to the point of feeling harassed myself. In seizing my Drone, I have been accused of flying below 18m by the Lancashire police Drone Unit. According to the Drone Police unit, flying around my area rather than going to the countryside to take nice pictures. Apparently, according to Lancashire Police Drone Unit, I'll learn nothing flying a Drone around my 'safe' and 'known'' area while learning to fly. According to Lancashire Police Drone Unit flying round and round and up and down is strange and not normal behaviour. So - as it stands, the Drone has been seized as soon as I suggested the report was malicious and had these two police officers throw many ridiculous accusations at me. My neighbours fall into 2 categories, 1) those that don't give a monkeys 2) those that simply don't want a Drone operating in the area and lying to others and the poluce about claims of invasion of privacy, flying illegally and following lone females in order to get rid of it. The Lancashire police Drone Unit guy was misinformed and speaking to the CAA who stated if they were aware of the visit that led to the seizure, they would have intervened to stop it ad they confirmed I was flying legally. So, as it stands, every time I fly the Drone, I can guarantee a police car will drive past as a hysterical neighbour had called them. I now have a neighbour who objects to a Drone, abusing the police by exaggeration of claims which has left my without the Drone for two weeks. The Drone operator needs training in the legal status of flying and his arrogant nature towards me was disgusting when I truly believe I have done nothing wrong. I kind of wished they'd arrested me as at least I could have claimed compensation. Can I be compensated for having the Drond removed from my possession for at least 2 weeks? When the Drone has been handed back - I intend to make formal complaints against the two officers and take legal action against my neighbours for deformation and harassment. My two immediate neighbours next door say "it is absolutely ridiculous", yet Victor Meldrew 3 doors down has twice tried to have me prosecuted for simply flying legally in my area. I now face the prospect of court to defend false allegations made against me. Anyone here made complaints against police officers? Where do I start?
It’s funny how civilians just consume and believe the lies. NSA is important but we’re already being sold out and taken over. The people need to win this. If we don’t it was a set up from the beginning. It’s all about money. Term limits need to apply to all government officials.
Hi Sean, amazing video and I found this just in time. I am travelling to the UK from India and wish to fly my Mini 2 in certain countryside (Glencoe, Fort William, Isle of Skye, Loch Ness). Can you please advise what the rules are for UK Visitors? Also how are drones carried in flights?
I find it amusing with the comments that he is being wronged, or in that, what proof, blah blah. Those should take off their “tin” hats, this is not a conspiracy. He has shown, he is habitual on his actions. Also, he must feel entitled with his actions, and avoiding the rules. He deserves punishment. How can I be confident in that idea. By his posting on social media. He is showing off his recklessness and how great he is. This behaviour doesn’t do anyone any good, that use drones as a hobby, and follow the rules to enjoy themselves, never mind the commercial pilots, whom depend on this for their livelihood. There is an old adage, “ not knowing the law, is no reason, ….”. All he is doing, is also supporting the Karens of this world. Yet, I am sure, he knows the law, and how to properly execute his actions. Finally, social media, is too often abused by the idiots of this planet A ( there is no B), from the common man to so called world leaders, to show how “witty or great”, they are. 🙀😂
The CAA need to write to us all or publish an equivalent of the Highway Code. I don’t have an hour to listen o all this, make notes and then have it all change.
This doesn't make any kind of sense, how are you going to call a drone made in America but you get the parts from China and you only add the software to the drone. That is not made in America made in America means it is built from the ground up all parts are from America
What happens if I take off and fly with a clear space of 150m+ and someone approaches me while my drone is in flight. How do I land legally ? If I make them aware my drone is coming down to land, does that make them a person taking part in the flight or do they need to concent ?
Thanks for this. I have a couple small drones and trying to familiarize myself with all legal aspects before flying. Seriously, I am afraid to even fly outside my yard. And in our rural area, even flying it towards the neighbors I can imagine their shotguns coming out! Though I know it is illegal to threaten any aircraft, do they know that?
It is funny how America is doing exactly what they are afraid "communist" countries would do. I lived in LA for 8 years and I can tell that I had less freedom there than anywhere in the world.
I can't stand DJI. Even though I have a waiver from the FAA I still need to get airspace clearance randomly through fly safe. It's ridiculous. I don't like that I have to get airspace clearance from China
Its incredible how the US claims the chinese are stealing all their high tech and copying everything and then selling copycat lesser versions of the great american made products...well i dont know about that...i've never seen a good american made drone that even comes close to operating as well the dji's drones do...this is all a bunch of us fearmongering and the american people need to realize the real enemy is running the country and those people are the ones they should be worried about
Whoever said 'linux for drones' in the chat, bear in mind that, depending on what you want, there is already excellent open source software out there such as Betaflight and iNav.
It's a big issue because DJI is such a large manufacturer of drones, and this particular move is driven by security, rightly or wrongly. But actually, this is just a particular battle in the overall war against drones. Why? Never really understood it, except that there are potentially big revenue issues here worldwide. So, while getting one's sleeves rolled up on this issue, it's important not to lose sight of the big picture.
This will affect all DJI tech that has wifi connections. The Camera's , camera gimbels, wireless microphones and will also effect non DJI wireless devices including phones, cameras even things like earbuds. If a device requires FCC approval to operate it will become useless if this passes. You all need TO FIGHT FOR THE RIGHT and get this ridiculous protectionism bill kicked out. The head of this bills origin is directly connected to an American drone company, even though they do not sell consumer drones or even have tech close to what DJI has.
Anyone able to help with vertical limits? Recently bought a drone and wanting to film in Lincoln but it’s a very heavy air base county. There is an outer red area that says Vertical Limits: This piece of airspace is in effect between Surface and 10500ft. I have a DJI mini 4K (insured and operator ID) am I able to fly in this airspace without permission?
Of course, you do realise that there will NOT be, anything approaching, a reasonable discussion about this from the US and the UK. I worry about small businesses out there, the "wealth creators", that, particularly in the UK, are touted as being essential for the future prospects of the country. The REAL point is, is that there is no really reliable alternative to DJI's products. Manufacturers are getting better, but will that save people who need this tech for their jobs? Give us an alternative, and we'll happily consider moving on from DJI, but there is nothing viable!
Hi Sean my drone had been in the cupboard for a few months and i have just opened the drone assist app and there is lots of different shaped red area's everywhere and where i live in cirencester this now has a red area saying danger area near raf fairford which wad not there last time i looked, can i still fly in this area which is outside the flight restriction zone but deemed danger area? Im confused 😮regards
(Preface: If you don't have time to read the ramblings of a mad man, just skip to the final paragraph for a question, that I was curious about your thoughts on) I'm not sure how I haven't stumbled on your channel before, I thought I was subbed to most decent drone/fpv channels out there, I'm glad I stumbled on it today, and am now subbed. I can't tell you how refreshing it is to see a honest and informed take on this issue!! There are so many content creators out there, that I normally trust and respect when dealing with the intricacies of piloting or building a drone, that turn into reactionary caricatures of their normal selves when issues like this come up. I really liked your approach using deep dives to inform yourself, even more, your honesty when touching on parts of the story you weren't certain about and not comfortable speaking on yet. I had to leave a 27yr career in the fire/rescue service a few years early, back before the pandemic hit, due to ptsd, and I didn't know what to do with myself at first. I decided I was tired of all the misinformation out there, and since I had the time, I decided I wanted to figure out how to weed through all the muck and inform myself. I basically started by questioning every belief and ideology I've ever had, started following a bunch of channels that centered on gathering research based data, I even took some online classes on investigative journalism, and recognizing propaganda, stuff like that. Anyway, it led me to two things, one, as the old saying goes, it made me realize just how little I really know about the world and universe around me, but second, it taught me how to do a proper deep dive into an issue if it's important to me, so I was very glad you talked about that aspect of how you obtained the info you were giving us. I couldn't agree more with your final synopsis, and I find that to be the case with many issues that I've done deep dives on, and frankly it's usually the case with an issue the "two sides" of the political arena (that's all people think there is in my not so bright country..lol) disagree with each other so much they want to resort to violence, and that is.... it usually lies somewhere in the middle. I'm really surprised, or maybe just perturbed, how many people, at least here in the U.S. are going the route of using gun rights rhetoric, I've seen several memes that resemble popular 2nd Amendment imagery, saying "come and take if from my cold dead hands" with an image of a drone, type stuff. I'm like dude, even if the ban went into full affect, they're not going to send out teams of federal agents in black SUVs to kick in our door because we didn't turn our DJI drones over, nor do you have to "turn them in", it's so ridiculous. Holy crapolla, I've rambled already, quick last thing I just wanted your opinion on, one of the things that's peaked my interest in the last 6mos or so, that I've done a couple deep dives on, is geopolitics and maritime shipping, specifically the trend of deglobalization that the U.S. tends to be making a shift towards. One of things I discovered, that might affect this issue, that really surprised me, was just how bad of shape China is in, I won't go into it, but lets just say 15yrs of birth rates plummeting, almost zero capitol to depend on, consumer exports being their only means of earning any real GDP (hence the massive tariffs Biden and the U.K. just imposed on them last week), and a president that has killed the messenger of bad news for two decades leading to him having no clue to the reality of his country quickly approaching a large cliff.... Which has led to quite a few insiders and global economists predicting a total and massive collapse of China by the end of the decade. So if that were to happen, would DJI be able to pick up and move the entire operation if they were to be bought by foreign investors, or do they go down with the ship?? Sorry for the long rant, just getting over covid and bored and ready to get out of the house, again, great video!! Take care!
We dont mind the goverments watching us on all those cctv camera around our cities we dont care about amazone and google knowing our internet history and browsing we dont mind microsoft knowing everything we do on our pcs including those in goverment , law enforcement and military but we lose our minds that a man in china might see a picture of a tree that we were about to hit with our little drones FFS - whay are there so many fwits in positions of power in the US
