I'm Brandon Gilstrap, and this channel is an insight to my life with Harley Davidson motorcycles, and the community that surrounds the lifestyle. Most of my videos are "how to" oriented in hopes of helping the DIY guys, some of them are product reviews, and my favorites are the vlog-style videos were I get to take a trip and make a memory. If you watch my videos for the "how to" insights, please remember I may make mistakes there are multiple ways to do some things, and you should always refer to your service manual. Thanks for watching!
While everyone is talking smack about your grip, ill give you my opinion so it woll actually maybe help you. Your right hand thumb needs to be higher. Then your left thumb can mate with your right. Basically the bottom of your left "chicken drumstick" will mate with somewhere in thebmiddle of yournright "drumstick"
What length 7/16" wrenches are you using? They look longer than the standard Craftsman 7/16" wrenches. Longer wrenches makes tighter not to come loose. Thanks
question: i have a 23 street glide and a few months ago, May 2024, I performed a stage 1 upgrade. Hi-Flow breather, head pipes, mufflers and used the screaming eagle tuner to tune the bike. The tuner is the small one, the size of a thumb drive in length. gas mileage seems to be worse, and now i have an idol issue. When at a stop light, the idol will rev up a little and then slows back down. it feels like it doesn't know to idol high or idol low and it is related to what I've done so it has to be the fuel/air is not set right. The Harley tuner only has one option for the stage 1. That is for the hi-flow breather and exhaust. Anyways, I pulled off the air breather today 7/7/24 to inspect it and noticed the side of the breather that faces the front tire was dirty. The rest of the filter was clean. I also noticed a little oily residue on the inside of the air breather casing. There was no evidence of oil on the inside of the filter, because the inside of the filter looked brand new. I really believe the bike is not tuned correctly. I paid over $400 for the tuner and I feel the tuner has made it worse. What are your thoughts?
Yeah it’s probably an issue with the tuner. Those plug and play tuners are usually not great, unless you go high end with a thunder max or something with wide band 02 sensors. Most options don’t dial in the air:fuel proper for your bikes needs, it’s just a base map and a marketing scheme really
im having the same issue with the same style and year bike. i got new motor mounts new rotors new pads new wheel bearings a new tire that was balance less then 250 miles.
I have a Honda VTX and I so want to do this setup. I only have the side mount. No rear license plate fender bracket so I'm hoping with not so much modification I can get it to work.
I love my Lexin comms. I don't have the new Novus. I'm still rockin' the old B4FM unit. It does all I need it to, for me and my wife on back, which is usually all I ever ride with. I've heard some good things about the Novus. Lexin is priced really well!! Love your channel! Stay safe
On sale where? I bought a Shoei rf-1400 because of noise complaints of simpsons. But would love to still try one and it would make since with that kinda deal.
Is there a difference between half helmet or fullface,as much as black and white. A fullface is the same as driving a car. No sound, wind, smells just like playing a video game.🥱
Great Sunday ride! I've been trying to not let things get to me as easily too. I have a difficult time being sensitive to other people's situations and feelings but I do my best! 😊
I noticed you use the satellite view on Google maps you find it helps a lot. I find it just a lot to look at that way. Keep up the great videos. You guys are Rockstars on the long tours.
We don't have a helmet law in Ohio and I started wearing one because they are so much lighter now. I have a German skull 💀 cover. Be safe and have a cup of joe for me 😎
@@GilstrapGarage I like the wind, but I do have a windshield so not as much hits me in the face. But in a rain storm I wish I had a full face helmet. Goggles help but fogging can happen 😂
Between the clear music in your helmet and wind protection, a full face helmet is my go to. What Lexin model are you guys running? Currently use Lexin in my wife and mine helmets. But the music in my wife’s Icon El Centro helmet is considerably quieter. Wondering if the model you are using would be better. Thanks
I have a 2014 dyna switchback that runs great until you put in gear it will completely shut off about as soon as you take off. Then I have to unplug the ecu and then plug it back in to be able to get it to start again. Took it to Harley had them reprogram the ecu cause it was aftermarket didn’t fix the issue they then said I had to replace tires and brakes etc.. because they aren’t new enough to get it on a dyno so I just took it home. Does this sound like it’s an electrical issue?
That’s an odd one. Does it jolt when it shuts off? I’d start super simple and check the clutch adjustment. And then I might look in to fuel pressure. If that’s not it then id start looking in to the electrical side of things for sure. With it not restarting almost sounds like the crash protection could be active. Be sure that the ECM and the BCM are not mounted upside down or backwards or anything like that
@@GilstrapGarage No jolt it’s super inconsistent. It runs and idles fine on the kickstand but once you take it of the kickstand is when it has issues. It’s shut off on me right on take off but also Ive been able to ride it to 3rd gear before it shut off all the lights and everything will stay on but the engine will die out almost as if it was a security issue but it wouldn’t even start if that was the issue.
@@JayChapman-bc3vp I’ve been doing some research on it, and something I’ve seen come up consistently is that the left hand control module goes bad and will cause this to happen.
Yes as long as you don't introduce air into the ABS unit there's no issues ... if it sucks air then you'll need a scan tool to completely bleed the ABS unit
