I have to say, that one writer in the writing room for the narrative check failed spectacularly, IMO. OR someone interfered with the writing process and we ended up with the mess we have.
I always think of the Force like a yin/yang ☯️ There's dark and light, but it requires balance to work. If there's too much light or dark you can overwhelm the balance of the natural order, and in many ways the dark side is more along the lines of lack of self control while the light side practices overwhelming self control. This oddly makes Ahsoka in Rebels as the only true balanced force user.
I like my podcasts in audio format. But when I went to Apple Podcasts to subscribe I saw that the latest episode was 2 months ago. Is there no audio only version of the podcast?
I wasn’t sure if I'd agree when I saw the title of the video, but after hearing your points I think I do agree. The existence of the dark side as a natural, cosmic entity is moreso neutral than evil. Death and decay are natural parts of life and part of the cycle. But using the dark side is bad because it cannot be controlled the same way the light side can. It indulges on people's negative thoughts and desires and leads them to seeking to gain power and subjugate the physical world and even the Force itself to their will. That's what is unnatural, causes suffering and ultimately is what's evil. It's the difference between say the dark side nexuses that just exist on their own in natural ecosystems and Plagueis/Palpatine trying to subvert death through Sith alchemy and cloning.
I questioned how much Qimir actually used the dark side. I typically think of it as specific force abilities. But I can see how using force push to kill someone could be considered dark. But I don’t think someone who happens to know how to wheel the force and decides to kill someone with a blade is dark side usage.
Yep - Yoda describes this well in EMPIRE when Luke asks, "How am I to know the good from the bad?" - "You will know. When you are calm, at peace, passive." In this regard, Luke using the Force to pacify the Gamorreans in RETURN could be considered light side, based on his intentions.
I expected this to be a bad faith "turn off your brain and consume media" take just because of the phrasing, but I'm pleasantly surprised at the good points here. I think there are a few more issues with the fight and episode than the duel at the end of Phantom Menace, but now I can see how the argument of "characters had openings they did not take" (since that is the only way I personally have heard it articulated) is immensely flawed. I don't necessarily know the thought process of people using this argument in good faith, but the more I read into key moments of the fight the more it at least passes the smell test of working. I.e. Qimir taunting Mae not killing her yet so Jecki can fight. He just took out a bunch of Jedi and expects Jecki to be easy so he can taunt Mae and then kill her. Once that is definitively wrong, he leaves the fight (though not killing Jecki there is still a little strange). Jecki suddenly doing better with two lightsabers doesn't seem strange to me since she's been very timid but just beat up a Sith Acolyte and could be feeling more confident. In any case, Qimir being surprised at how adept she is with two is the more important takeaway. Why he doesn't pull out his second, I'm a little unsure (either it would take too much time, he didn't want Mae to know he had two or it's potentially a writing error) I will say I have not yet heard a good reason for Sol disappearing at the beginning of the fight, though it makes sense for Jecki to split up and go after Mae (though i guess with her "permission to speak?" nature I have to imagine Sol would have ordered that). Based on watching it myself, I think we have enough to conclude that they were in a different part of the forest than the umbramoths (because they stay mostly around Kelnacca's hut and why would he choose to live next to them), but I would have preferred more information upfront about the layout because it all is very confusing and makes the quick saves from Sol, Jecki and Yord feel more contrived than they might actually be (also the option it is just contrived and I am making too many inferences)
If lucasfilm have any sense or perhaps a bit of shame left, they would abandon all ideas of doing a season 2 of this abomination. I mean Vernestra's centrality to the second season heavily points to nepotism and at this point it may be just a "conspiracy theory", but go through with it and it will be a confirmation of the same. Funny how all the "fans" don't talk about it though.......
I am already in favor of a season 2, now more so than ever with this theory. I also have to wonder if we will get this information in the last couple of High Republic novels to come.
But I don't WANT him to be Imri! He's such a kind and sweet boy! (I've only just started Phase 2 of The High Republic, so no spoilers for Phase 3 if he's shown up at all)
the answer is so simple: crystal bleeding did not exist when Ep 3 was made. It's astounding to me how sw fans jump through so many hoops just to justify a simple retcon.
Also Darth tenebrous probably created the twins or is them! Darth plagueis killed his Master but still was interested in manipulating life and is studying the twins
No no. Darth plagueis suspected Darth tenebrous was keeping secrets of the dark side from him. We are seeing plagueis find out about darth tenebrous's secret apprentice Darth venomous
Actually no, bleeding is an ancient sith ritual. Which was Vader's first mission after Obi-wan took the lightsaber and put him in his suit. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rtu6diuRJVA.htmlsi=rqB89A_CkKsnnINF
Also Anakin's Crystal was not exposed, Sol's was, we don't even need the out of universe logic they clearly thought of this. Side note, is that a bracelet or a watch on your wrist? Either way I like it.
@@This_Justin998 it's a bracelet that I put a Jedi order pin into. I couldn't find it, so I just put the two together. Also physical contact is not required as Dagan Gera does not touch his. So just clarifying the meta reasons.
@@DyadintheForce That's awesome and it looks awesome. It's not about the physical contact but the enclosure in the lightsaber for the crystal. It may or may not be spelled out in canon but with the patterns like with Dagon having to take it out to bleed it and it being exposed in the Osha moment that the chamber it's in in the lightsaber is meant to protect the crystal. It's an assumption I'm sure, but one I personally feel pretty safe making with the patterns we've seen.
@@mreszotnik Whether or not that's true - it's not going to stop me from crafting theories. The fandom has gone downhill in this regard and we've lost our imaginations.
Ngl it's nice to see less a damning review of this thing. I have disliked a lot of disney star wars but generally enjoyed this, barring a couple of very sub par eps
I enjoyed the show, and this theory could elevate it even further! Helping to redeem the sequel trilogy while also giving us Plagueis and more high republic?? Exactly what the franchise needs Love the positivity as well, subscribed
There's nothing to really theorize about. Headland is making everything way too fucking obvious. We all know we're getting a season 2 (sadly) and Headland has confirmed she's in love with Plagueis as a character. Plagueis ends up killing Osha and Qimir cause they've been fucking up showing themselves and killing Jedi when they're supposed to be in hiding, where then he finds Palpatine at the end of the season. I can't fucking wait for to try to ruin Palpatine too.
You can't go at people for wanting series/movies to stick to canon and the world they know. Some expanding is ALWAYS needed, but this whole show was Headland going "I DID IT FIRST."
Similar issue you come across in sports. Easy to pick apart and judge players decisions if you view it frame by frame, life moves way faster than that, it was never meant to be seen so slow
@@4Pf_.943 that is your opinion! This show keep me interested from the first episode so if you don't like it fine, you maybe one of those Anakin can do no wrong types, if so oh well!
I'd honestly be disappointed if with all the build up and foreshadowing the ascension wasn't something bad for the twins rooted in the dark side. It just seems like the vibes from the start. Nobody is talking about the very early line from their mother "You're both so special, and I want you to stay that way." The vibes there are not good at the very least.
I agree. It's interesting to hear many people exonerate the coven with so little information - simply based on Aniseya appearing reasonable. Now, while I maintain Sol did a horrible thing - I do contend that without all the information - we cannot reach a solid conclusion. Aniseya MAY have started to soften after creating Mae and Osha. But what about the history of the coven itself? Did they continually sacrifice people? The Power of One, The Power of Two, the Power of Many. And during the demonstrations, Aniseya demonstrated she had the power to fight many. It seemed like the many, would be assimilated into her as the leader - making them "lead" the coven in some semantics. And Koril was also exacerbating tensions as well, not to protect the children - but to protect the legacy of the coven. So it begs the question - why?
@@DyadintheForce Absolutely agreed. The nuance of the conflict between the two parties was expertly done, both were hiding things, both were instigating a little too hard and leaning on pre conceived notions. Until in my opinion the framing became a little too heavy handed against the Jedi. Maybe it has to do with the POV, but even with that in mind the way it wrapped up did not feel like it continued that level of nuance. I can only hope as the story continues that lessons but the way the ending wrapped up really felt like it threw out that nuance.
Just finished it, and it was not bad. Now for unpopular opinion. If Headland just kept her trap shut and allowed the trolls to die out instead of feeding them. The show would have done better review and legend eu fanbase wise.
I was very much hoping for a “the Acolyte shall return” kind of message after the credits. I need that confirmation. Now I’m worried it may not happen.
There is a lot to love about this show, but it still left me disappointed. My chief criticism is that is is full of plot conveniences, the level of which does not fit the genre of a mystery. Characters really make, weird, unexplainable decisions for no reason whatsover. From the top of my head: 1. Yord sends alleged Jedi killer who witnesses could see used superpowers, without supervision of any Jedi. It's as if they already knew Osha was innocent. 2. Mae switches motivations at the drop of the hat for no reason, without sufficient foreshadowing. He wants to kill the Jedi, then he learns about Osha, and in the middle of the mission, decides to surrender to the Jedi. Then she does not do that. Instead she impersonates Osha... to do what exactly? Then she almost backstabs Sol... even though she could have killed him in episode 5 when he was unconscious and helpless. In the end we learn he wanted Sol to confess... so why is she running away from his ship when his plan was to attract the Jedi search party? Then she could have testified. Heck, if her plan was to force confession out of Sol, she needn't have performed the switcharoo routine with Osha. 3. Torbin acting not like a Jedi padawan raised in the temple early years, but like a common teenager. And even then he is homesick so much, he decides to invade Space Witches' home, which is new way of jumping the shark. The characters behave weirdly contrary to their backstory, and that is explained only in case of Sol. The rest appear to fall victim to very rushed storytelling. IMO there should have been more quiet moments, more time to explore why the characters are doing thing there were doing. I am also not sold on the moral of the story. It's almost shown like Osha being corrupted by the Sith and succumbing to her dark emotions... is a good and empowering thing? And we forget Qimir does kill a bunch of good-hearted, just Jedi - including Yord and Jeckie. But the moment he shows his muscles, is all good, he is just misunderstood. I love the action and much of the acting and I like broad strokes of the story, but the execution was... sloppy, in my opinion. And again, I do not like the message. OR at least I am confused about it.

@@DyadintheForce I just discovered your channel (although I have been following Darth Choco for years now), and I am not fully familiar with the format. But sure, I would gladly call in and discuss that stuff. Props to you guys for trying to have a dialogue and addressing the rift in Star Wars fanbase.
@@DyadintheForce I would have gladly done this but 1) I have not used twitter/X (it's a toxic platform, imo) 2) I created just now the account to contact you, and I cannot do so directly, because I am not a premium subscriber. 3) I cannot even buy premium subscription because it requires me to have had the account for more than 30 days, apparently. Having said that, I would love to have such a discussion with you guys.
I REALLY enjoyed the way osha corrupted the cyber crystal and the red overtook the blue like a building flame! I thought it was beautiful looking. I also love...virtually everything about quimir, his look, his style of fighting, he's cruel and to the point almost blunt, but I also liked seeing him care for oshas safety. I am REALLY excited to see where this goes if they make a season 2, and I hope they keep going with this dark tone they have set.
I have so many theories on Plagueis being there cause he knows these twins are his key to immortality. Also I agree that Qimir was fighting Plagueis telling him no no you can't take osha yet
