At minimum it takes 5.5 L/100km in flowing traffic 120kph Motorway, it takes around 7L/100km Messing around on Country roads leads to 10L/100km At 200kph top speed it takes 22L/100km, makes no sense at all going that fast with the 5-speed transmission.

With the 17" wheels, the steering is somewhat heavy and gets a lot of influx from uneven roads, etc. On 15" winter tyres, it depends on your comparison. It definitely feels different than hydraulic power steering systems. The clutch has a short way and high force. If it squeeks or does not feel smooth, the lever that connects the clutch slave cylinder to the internals of the bell housing needs some grease on the contact point.

Yes, there is always some kind of whining. I think that it is just a thing about Toyota drivetrains. Did you find one of the rare six-speed versions or did you mean fifth gear? :)

@@tsd560ti The car was picked up/bought from the Netherlands as a second hand. I found out it is quite rare when I heard people at Toyota talking about it. Indeed, highway driving is great, and there is a good difference in ratio when you shift to 6th. Up until 5th, the gears are very close. Then in 6th, the engine is very calm at 120km/h. When bought i, i drove back from the Netherlands and average fuel consumption was 5.9L/100km at 110km/h over 200km.

In the city, it heavily depends on the driving profile. As soon as you can roll in third gear (20kph@1000rpm), it does quite well. This strong sound is present on all Toyotas, that I know :D. My best guess is, that the shape of their gears is not acoustically optimized for coasting in gear, when the other sides of the teeth come into contact. Do you have this awesome 1.8 VVTi-L engine? How does it fare as a daily driver, especially consumption-wise?

Hi, the car was available in Europe from 2007-2009 in this spec. It is a 133hp 2ZR-FE, which Lotus later used in a supercharged version for the Elise. I am quite sure that you need different mounts when you swap it for a 1.5-engine, but you should be able to get the parts from Europe. In the Netherlands, there is a huge market with used parts, because insurances are allowed to repair old cars with them. The transmission has different gearing, but it should bolt right up.

Thanks! :) I would disagree for my car. In normal to spirited driving it uses hardly any oil. - Maybe 0.1-0,2 L / 1000km. Even on a track day, it made 350km of abuse with low oil consumption. For this race-applications, I use 5W-50 oil and the car has been well taken car of by the previous owner. I have read about piston ring issues as well, but I think that is a concern for high mileage cars with some neglected maintenance.

Hi, das Bilsteinfahrwerk verbessert das Handling deutlich. Lenkt viel agiler ein und auch die Straßenlage auf der Autobahn ist sicherer. Mit den aktuellen Nankang NS2-R fährt es sich echt sportlich, zumindest Michelin Pilot Sport solltest du fahren. Passenderweise kommt heute ein Video vom Slalomevent :D Auf der anderen Seite wird es echt hart im Auto. Jede Bodenwelle kommt durch, die Kunstoffteile knacken im Winter, weil sich das Chassis mehr verwindet. Wenn das die nächsten Jahre für dich ein komfortabler Alltagswagen auf buckeligen Straßen bleiben soll würde ich ein Sportfahrwerk also eher nicht empfehlen

Ich denke ich kaufe Gute Dämpfer + Federn. Zwei Fragen noch 😅 Meine Kupplung Quietscht beim Treten und beim Schalten habe nur ich das Problem? Ist die Motorabdeckung noch bei dir drauf der Toyota Händler hat die bei mir demontiert weil das wohl besser sein soll ? LG

Vielleicht findest du ja bessere Stoßdämpfer, die du mit Serienfedern fahren kannst. Wenn die Kupplung knascht kannst du die Reibstelle zwischen Kupplungs-Zylinder und dem Umlenkarm fetten: m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_Ky33cKdyOo.html . Beim Yaris sitzt das zwischen Getriebe und Frontstoßtange. Mein Schaltgestänge quietscht auch, aber das ist hochfrequenter und ich hab es noch nicht weg bekommen :D Motorabdeckung ist oft nur zur Schallisolation. Ich hab sie noch drauf gelassen um die Kabel und Zündspulen vor Wasser und Dreck zu schützen. Der Toyotahändler hat mein Auto noch nie gesehen, die Preise für Originalteile sind mir zu deftig^^

Ansonsten verändere ich bei dem Wagen nichts, ich bin froh das alles Original ist und nicht Verbastelt. Mit der Kupplung Probiere ich direkt mal aus. Das Problem mit dem Schaltgestänge habe ich auch😅. Wir sind immer bei dem selben Händler der wohl an den Autos nichts verdient, die gehen ja irgendwie nicht kaputt😁

There are cars that are cheaper to run, but it is a good compromise for commuting, transporting bulky things and having fun on the weekends. Reliability is great, but rust is a concern. The only two things I dont like is highway driving at 120kph+ (noise, consumption) and parts availability is not good/can get expensive.

Hey, it is my first as well. Great car with a lot of space for weekend trips with friends. I even transported a washing machine in the back. And if you find an empty backroad, you will have lots of fun with this great steering setup and close-ratio transmission. Consumption is ok, only quick Highway driving (120kph+) is awfully expensive. (140kph= 10L/100km)

Ich hab noch ein bisschen Material aus dem Racepark Meppen, Qualität ist leider recht bescheiden :D Als reines Spaßauto würde ich mich eher Richtung MX5 oder so umsehen, die Gewichtsverteilung hab ich letztens auf 63/37 gemessen uns so fährt es sich auch auf der Rennstrecke :D

@@aircon0 Vom P1 hab ich mir auch Inserate angeschaut, der ist als Spaß/Sportauto beliebter und das merkt man im Preis. Das Problem an den beiden TS ist halt, dass sie Japan-Autos sind und die Bremsanlage, Fahrwerk, Lenkgetriebe, etc kaum als Ersatzteil zu bekommen sind. Die originale Toyota-Hinterachse sollte mich 2700€ kosten, nachdem die alte durchgerostet war. Für ein Gebrauchtteil musste ich in die Niederlande fahren. Wenn du ein bisschen Budget drauflegen kannst würde ich mich nach Fahrzeugen mit dem 1.8 VVTI-L umsehen, das ist ein geiler Motor :D

Ich kann nur empfehlen mal im Frühjahr in den Rennkalender zu gucken. -Ich werde irgendwo in NRW sicherlich noch mal teilnehmen :) Aktuell habe ich ein Ravenol VST 5W-40 drin, wegen der Rennveranstaltungen usw. Für Pendeln mit Kurzstrecke (Kraftstoffeintrag--> Ölverdünnung --> Schlecht für die Steuerkette) dürfte ein 5W-30 schon vollkommen reichen. Wenn du immer 20km+ fährst und selten Volllast gibst sollte ein 0W-20 oder 0W-30 auch taugen. Kauf dir doch sonst einfach Auffahrrampen oder geh für 10€/Stunde in eine Mietwerkstatt, dann hast du keine Diskussionen und lernst alles kennen. Ich mach dir gerne ein Video wo der Ölfilter ist.

@@tsd560ti Ich werde aufjedenfall mal in den Rennkalender Schauen. Ich fahre den Yaris sehr Sportlich bis auf die Kurzstrecken 10Km zur Arbeit. Den Wagen fahre ich immer Warm und Kalt. Gut, ich versuche mal Bilder beim Reifenwechsel zu machen. Kurzanleitung: Ölfiltergehäuse ist aus Kunstoff, sitzt Beifahrerseitig waagerecht unter dem Motor, ca 60mm Durchmesser. Vor dem kompletten Rausdrehen muss ein kleines Sicherungsblech (mit WD40 + Gewalt) entfernt werden. Ein paar Ölempfehlungen in 5W40: - Günstig: Mannol Extreme - Ganz Gut: Shell Helix Ultra (mit VW502 00 Freigabe und API SN), Total Quartz, Meguin HighCondition - (Aktuell leider) Teuer: Ravenol VST, Meguin SuperLeichtlauf, Rowe Hightech Synth RS

No, I used a 0W-30 oil once and it seemed like the oil didn't hold up well under high load/ sporty driving. I would rather stick to 5W-30/40 for fast driving. -Currently Ravenol VST 5W-40. If it is just for a regular commute, a good 0W-20 should be fine and safe some fuel.

Hey, Willkommen im TS-Club ;) Warmfahren ist gut, gibt ja leider nur das Cool-Lämpchen unter 60° Wassertemp und überhaupt keinen Öltemperatursensor. Regelmäßige Motorölwechsel, und alle 75000 Getriebeöl sollten sein. Ravenol MTF-3 ist klasse, 2Liter reichen und die Gänge flutschen auch kalt. Knascht deine Kupplung auch/Tritt sich sehr schwer? -Dann kann man den Kopf vom Nehmerzylinder fetten. Ansonsten frisst er sich in dem Alter mal eine Zündspule. Bei Kerzen wird oft zu Denso geraten. Wenn es bei Vollgasfahrten nach Öl riecht kannst du mal die Kurbelgehäusentlüftung prüfen, da ist ein kleiner Metallnippel unterhalb der Ansaugbrücke, kostet ~25€ beim Händler. Mit Rost habe ich auf jeden Fall was durch bei dem Auto. Tankrohr kam beim Vorbesitzer neu, Bremssattelführung hinten fest (Nutze jetzt regelmäßig die Handbremse unter 50kmh, sonst ist die HA unterfordert). Dazu ist mir vor ein paar Wochen die Hinterachse in der Schweißnaht gerissen (Rost oder Unfallschaden, ist absolut nicht üblich, aber lass den Tüv da mal gründlich drüber schauen). Selber beeinflussen kannst du eigentlich nur die Radläufe--> bei jeder Wäsche den Morast aus der Blechkante am hinteren Radlauf waschen. Ansonsten reibt sich der Lack am Übergang zur Hecksstoßstange ab, da hab ich die mal abgebaut und das Blech neu grundiert (Dupli Haftgrund). Hoffe ich hab dich mit Infos nicht völlig erschlagen, wenn ich Helfen kann, immer gerne :)

@@tsd560ti Hey vielen dank für die Schnelle und Ausführliche Antwort, Also zum Thema Rost: an den besagten Stellen habe ich garkeine Roststellen, was mich wundert da der Wagen vom Vorbesitzer nur ab und an in die Waschstraße geschickt wurde. Die Handbremse betätige ich ca. alle zwei Wochen Während der Fahrt. Nur das besagte Problem mit der Kupplung und dem Knartzen habe ich leider 😆. Der Wagen ist Scheckheft gepflegt laut diesen waren die einzigen Reperaturen ein Durchgerosteter Auspuff und eine Feste Bremse die wohl geschliffen hat. Hoffe das er soweit Treu bleibt. Mit der Grundierung ist eine Super Idee das werde ich vor Wintereinbruch in Angriff nehmen, sowie das Getriebeöl zu Erneuern. Vielen dank nochmal und freue mich schon auf neue Videos. 😊

I understand your concern, I edited the video to only show the parts of the trip with high engine load. Otherwise, the car behaves pretty much like a Yaris 1.3. Some steep sections are up to 10% uphill, thats why the acceleration appears quite slow sometimes. The engine isnt incredible torquey below 4000rpm. If you are interested I can try to make a comparison between 3/4/5th gear 60-120 kph acceleration.

Besides that driving under high rpm isn't "trashing the engine", in the highest gear, he wouldn't even drive faster than 15km/h, especially on the inclines. The engine has less torque than a lawnmower, what are you talking about?

In my experience, rust is a bigger problem than mechanical faults on that car. Of course, the engine shouldnt smoke/ burn oil or have timing chain rattle. Water pump must be changed by now (10yr interval afaik). Check the clutch for wear (its a pretty small one and the engine needs some revs on takeoff). When You did the test drive, I'm very interested in your expierience with this car! :)

Yes, it is a bone stock T-Sport with 2ZR-FE engine - No mods, even stock intake. Exhaust might have a small leak somewhere in the rear section, but haven't found it yet, even on a service lift.

Thats funny, I actually considered buying this exact model as well three years ago. - What is it lacking? I definitively like my Yaris: Much interior space, reliable, small and quirky. Downsides are consumption, noise and seating position on longer journeys, and some rust issues: Brakes, exhaust, etc. The ADAC has tested both the Yaris 1.8 and your Civic 1.8: Acceleration, braking, even consumption are quite similar. - Maybe you are better of with a real sporty handling car like MX-5 or more power like a Mazda 3MPS, Merc A200-Turbo, etc. Or if your Civic is still ready for some years of service, you might consider upgrading the suspension with a Bilstein B14 Kit. I replaced my stock (sport) suspension and enjoy twisty roads even more now.

The Civic lacks refinement, has good seats but there's a lot of road noise and I just changed the shocks plus I use Goodyear tyres. Maybe the Yaris SR is too similar to my car, almost identical performance other than the Civic has a 6th gear. Yaris is probably a little more exciting to drive but the Civic is likely a little more comfortable. I have already put rear shocks on the Civic, if I keep the car I will change the fronts too and maybe consider lowering springs. Eibach Pro seems to be what people put on their Civics. I will go and try a Yaris in the next few weeks to see if it's worth changing. The other car on my list is a Micra K12 160SR. In short, I want a low cost fun car. As I have a 3.0 V6 Alfa Romeo for power when I am in the mood! Maybe I will get a VW Golf instead as the mk5 is very comfortable, boring but very quiet on the motorway.

I just watched your videos on the AlfaRomeo, that sounds like a nice powerplant :D You could give the Mitsubishi Colt (1.5 Turbo, 150hp) a try as well, just watch for rusted/leaky exhaust manifolds. First Gen Yaris P1-TS (1.5, 105hp) are also agile cars, because they weigh significantly less than the XP9 Gen. Golf IV/ A3-8L are 150kg lighter than Golf V / A3-8P. If you want a nimble fun-car, thats the most important thing, next to a high-quality suspension-kit. Anyway, I hope you'll get yourself a nice car and feel free to share Your test driving experience with us here :)

I use 5W-40 weight (fully synthetic; API SN) oil. -Currently Ravenol VST, previously Meguin SuperLeichtlauf 5W40. 0W-30 did not fare well for driving fast, as far as I can judge it by the smell and sludge of the used oil. Oil Interval is 1 year/15000km as recommended by manufacturer. Maybe I will reduce it to 6months/7500km, if I participate in multiple trackdays this summer. other intervals: - iridium spark plugs: 90tkm (official) - filters: as needed - gearbox oil: 60-90tkm (my recommendation) - grease clutch mechanism: when it squeekes ;D

Currently sitting at 110k km. In the last 25k km, it had one major issue with an ignition coil failing on the highway. I was overtaking, the car yanked heavily and I was able to drive it of the highway on 3 cylinders. This engine shuts fuel off on defective cylinders, so you can safely drive to the workshop without flushing the oil out. Additionally, the rear brakes had to be replaced completely (with the caliper-bracket) due to heavy rust issues. Exhaust pipe could be next, but sounds nice as is :D So all in all, it holds up better than a Volkswagen Golf IV (power locks, windows, electrical wires, ...) and very easy to work on. Parts are expensive if they fail. Rust is an issue, but axles/underbody holds up well.

Yes, but I always leave VSC on and start 'gentle', because a clutch is cheaper then replacing the whole drive line ruined by those 5K-clutch drops ;) There ain't no button for it, but I can confirm, that this hidden mode works: www.au-ja.de/guide-toyota-yaris-2-disable-vsc-1.phtml (translation below) - Be careful when deactivating, the cars rear is quite light with no cargo in the back. It tends to spin on downhill curves. ABS still works though. -The engine is off and no gear is engaged - Apply the handbrake firmly - Start the engine -Depress and release the footbrake -Depress the footbrake again and this time hold it down -Release the handbrake and tighten it again -Release and tighten the handbrake a second time -Let go of the footbrake -Depress and release the footbrake -Depress the footbrake one last time and let go -The warning signs VSC and danger of slipping light up, ESP is now deactivated

@@zefantastic9621 It is a hidden 'workshop mode' instead of a button meant for customers. You have to fiddle around with the handbrake and footbrake in a certain order. It takes about 10seconds and has to be done while starting the car up. VSC stays shut off until next restart of the engine. Did this info help you? If not, feel free to ask ;)

Decent examples should go around 3500€, mileage doesn't affect the price that much though. As always: Good service history is key, waterpump should have been changed after ~10years. A friend had his original one fail after just 12. Then watch for rust at the exhaust, the rear brakes and around fuel filler pipe.

Hello, in Europe the 2007-2009 Toyota Yaris TS comes standard with a 2ZR-FE engine (133hp) and a 5speed (probably some C5x ) gearbox. The 2013 Corolla might already have a 2ZR-FAE with variable valve lift (like BMW 'Valvetronic'). My older FE-engine only has the well known Dual VVT-i. So essentially, I only did oil changes on this car, no engine swaps ;)

@@jordanorielly9628 @Jordan Orielly A friend once had a rental 1.33 (99hp 1NZ-FE) and now drives a 1.8 TS(2ZR) as well. The throttle response/engine charecteristic is supposed to be quite different, the 2ZR should be more aggressive and likes to rev above 4000rpm. -At least after that 1second of E-throttle lag. Cable Throttle (and many other E-throttle cars) feel more direct though. Please mind that the 2ZR is a lot worse on fuel. Even in dry conditions, traction is not ideal when exiting corners in second gear. Changing the stock suspension and tires to 205/45/17 would be beneficial for cornering. Hey, I appreciate that you are interested in that little 'Yota. I intended to do a "Touristenfahrt" last autumn, but travel restrictions made it difficult. But even if I go there, I wouldn't dare to push the car to its absolute limits on such a complicated track. If there is anything specific (timed 0-100 runs, 60-100 fixed gear, speed in roundabout, etc) You would like to see, just let me know! :)

Hey, it's actually about 10kph above factory, but terrain was a little downhill and it was fueled with 100 octane. It is a (very short) 5-speed gearbox, as only the late facelift-models have a 6-speed. The gearing is different compared to the 1.0 and 1.3 engine options (longer 1st, shorter 3rd).

@@mcraeally44 I'm really not sure about this and dont want to give you some misleading information. The way to distinct C60/64 would be to watch a 6-speed POV drive and see the rpm-drop on a 5-->6 shift. C60 drops like 27%, C64 only ~12% according to wikipedia. You should take the EB-series transmissions into consideration as well.

Edit: Please see opela's comment for correct information Hi, I am not sure about it. My best guess is, that the whole display and backlight is one single unit with soldered on LED-backlight. -But that is only a guess, never disassembled it myself.

You can simply change the bulbs, just disassembly the climate control panel, and on the back you can find some green and white stuff where are the bulbs are located. In the Toyota shops you can buy the replacement bulbs.I already did it on my TS and its not take longer than 30 minutes.

@@amarofx939 hi yeah I figured it out, you have to get a replacement bulb from Toyota. You want to ask for the LCD backlight for the climate control in the 1.8 rs Yaris. They found it difficult to pinpoint the exact model but just say it's for the display backlight. Costs around £6. If they can't find it I'll find the part number for you

Die Werksangabe von 9,3 Sekunden kommt in der Ebene ganz gut hin. Mit den leichten 15"-Winterreifen sind Werte unter 9 Sekunden wohl möglich. Die 2 Schaltvorgänge müssen dann wirklich schnell gehen, sonst sind es schnell 10 Sekunden aufwärts.

Ich kann das Fahrzeug definitiv empfehlen. Gemessen an Kaufpreis und Unterhaltskosten wird eine Menge Fahrspaß geboten. Vermutlich etwas behäbiger als der alte P1 1.5, dafür sicherer und mit sehr wirkungsvollem ESP. Beim alltäglichen Pendeln fehlt ein sechster Gang für zügige Autobahnabschnitte, im Stau kann man dank 600rpm Leerlauf ohne Kupplungsbetätigung im Schrittempo rollen. Allgemein sehr angenehm und wendig im Stadtverkehr. Hinzu kommt die enorme Variabilität (verschiebare Rückbank!) und Ladehöhe im Innenraum. An dem Toyota kann man recht einfach schrauben lernen, Schläuche und Kunststoffbauteile sind wesentlich hochwertiger als bei einem Golf IV und zerbröseln nicht beim Ausbau. Die Ersatzteilversorgung ist teuer und teils mit Wartezeiten verbunden, dafür geht selten etwas kaputt. Nur Rost ist ein Thema: Radläufe, Scheuernde Stellen, Bremsbauteile, ...

Mit den 100/102-Oktan Kraftstoffen nehme ich auch ein besseres Ansprechverhalten und einen kräftigeren Durchzug wahr. Der Verbrauch könnte etwas (5%~0,4Liter) niedriger sein, aber für präzise Aussagen müsste ich es reproduzierbar Messen. Fährst du auch einen 1.8 TS?

Ja,aber der p1 ts :) und bin mir am überlegen den p2 zu kaufen. Du bist mal wirklich vertraut mit dein Auto :) super! Hast mir jetzt schon geholfen bei meine Entscheidung. Finde Toyota echt robust. Hatte noch keine Probleme mit meinen ,außer starker Rost am Auspuff.

Wenn du schon den P1 fährst gibt es wohl wenig Gründe für den XP9. Nach Videos und Foreneinträgen ist der Vorgänger wohl das leichtere, agilere und sparsamere Auto. Die Mehrleistung kommt erst auf der Autobahn zum Tragen und bei Vollgas-Verbräuchen von 20Litern nutzt man die äußerst selten. Ich habe mich nur für den XP9 entschieden, weil ich ein Modell in sehr gutem Zustand gefunden hatte. In einem TS 1.5 würde ich gerne mal mitfahren. Wenn du mal auf einer schönen Strecke unterwegs bist kannst du ja auch mal dein Handy an die Beifahrer-Kopfstütze klemmen ;)

Nein, nicht nennenswert. Der originale Endschalldämpfer macht seinen Job (leider) so zuverlässig wie alle anderen Teile an diesem Toyota :D An dem Fahrzeug habe ich zudem den Kofferraum mir Alubutyl beklebt um die Abrollgeräusche der Reifen abzuschirmen. Ein wenig Sound ging dabei auch verloren.

Es sind 133PS@6000rpm und 173Nm@4400rpm. Mit den schweren 17" Sommerrädern hat er schon zu kämpfen, aber für den Alltag und das Wochenende ein sehr spaßiges Auto :)
