I hear what you are saying here but the study you referenced was on non-obese subjects. Is there any similar data and studies done on obese subjects? Thank you! I'm just curious if the numbers would be different if obese subjects were used.
New subscriber. I love your content. Unbiased information is what I always look for. I am about 35 hours into a 72 hour fast for the first time. Peace and love from Atlanta, GA 🇺🇸🌎🌍🌎
Gosh, I’m just finding you as I’ve started adf. So much information! Thank you! And thank you for being such a kind and compassionate human being. Great energy!
Just started 24 hours fasting on MWF. It was much easier to maintain my desired 130 lbs as a single person than being part of a couple. I'd go 48+ hours before feeling a desire for food, now I am around someone who constantly thinks about what will be the next meal or snack. It's stressful.
The problem with fasting, is it is too effective. The weight is lost too quickly, the skin does not have time to recover, and then it sags. Once it sags, gravity perpetually pulls on it(even when you sleep). This is the problem point that makes it very difficult to bounce the skin back. Avoid this by not dropping weight too fast. The other problem is, to induce autophagy, you must fast. Fasting, causes fat loss. Fat loss, leads to more loose skin. The solution to this, is to focus not on shrinking the skin, but on expanding the healthy tissue-- muscle. Eat to heal the skin, shape it out, give it the space to shrink rather than burdening it with gravity. If you're a swimmer, have access to the ocean, take advantage as much as possible. Spending regular time in salt water will dramatically improve loose skin because salt water is extremely dense, it functions similar to zero gravity because it allows the skin to "float", supporting it through its pressure(as opposed to gravity's total absence of force allowing skin to "float"). This means all time spent in salt water, is like giving your skin the freedom to recover. Salt specifically also pulls a trivial amount of water from skin superficially, and this shrinks it, similar to how when you put cucumbers into brine, they shrink in pickling. You won't dehydrate in the ocean, but just the top layer will have some moisture pulled from it, and this promotes some tiny degree of elasticity and tightness which will give results in the long run.
These lectures are so, so helpful in furthering my understanding of this material. Thank you for sharing. My grade has gone from a B to an A in my Nutrition class.
I appreciate your getting back to people so much--not something you need to do, but just great. Now 8 months in with IF--alternate day fasting and some longer fasts thrown in--I am down almost 90 lbs. I was never able to do this just cutting calories. Thanks so much for your support!
I am starting off with a 36hr fast. I have 50lbs to lose in the coming 6months. Looking forward to it. Also need tricks to maintain my weight. Currently 190lbs.
Do you continuous get keto flu symptoms if your doing adf As 36 hours will put you into ketosis just wondering as I’ve had that flu many times, not fun
Wow thank you so much for this video. I have been ketovore since last August and have struggled with sleep the whole time. I need to do more fasting and want to start ADF but I know my sleep gets even worse, maybe 4 hours per night max. I have mild anxiety symptoms and high cortisol for sure, so knowing the methods of action for these supplements helps a lot. I take several of these supplements but maybe not all at the right time, like I take L-Theanine in the morning to calm my high morning cortisol, but I should also take it at night or try different nighttime aids. I have a plan of what to try and will be methodical about it, and it's good to know that some of these take a while to work like Silexan and Ashwagandha. Thank you so much for all the work that went into this!
I so need to succeed with this. Why is it such a struggle? I lost 100 over the past few years, but have gained 20+back, and need to regain control so I don't gain it all back. I have another 80+ to lose. Any, and all help and support would be greatly appreciated.
I just want to thank you, Dr. O. At 56, I have lost 200lbs+, 175 in the past year, largely through your ADF program. You saved my life and I can’t thank you enough.
Oh dear! Here I go again. On! Off! On! Off! Going to keep on listening to your videos to try to get motivated again. At this stage I am just stuffing my face and hating that I have no willpower. Thanks for these video and your Facebook page. Really appreciate you sharing your knowledge. Bless you.
Hi from Germany :) I barely have weight to lose but I'm very interested in fasting and weight loss and love your videos! They're such an amazing resource of information! Well done on your success and may as many people as possible find your account!
I agree with you about eating clean. I am fairly new and at times, fasting is hard. When I chew gum, I no longer think about eating. My goal is to eat clean, but I am not there yet and I am going to do what I can until fasting is second nature.
Hi Frank, I am 2/3 of the way through an 80 lbs weight loss target, so far 12 months into it. I am starting to plan my post-weight loss, and this loose skin topic is new for me, as is the lean weight loss. About the question of "how fast should I lose weight to prevent loose skin", in the absence of scientific studies I'd actually suggest an informal poll among other youtubers whove lost a lot of weight and people you've coached, as a substitute piece of information. Does rate of weight loss even play a role?
Thank you! I’m 44 and started a training regiment in 2022 and I lost about 25lbs… and kept it off for a long time - but I was hitting plateau… now I’m learning and understating more and even though I gained about 14 of those lbs. back - I’m 6 weeks in again and seeing gains in strength and endurance! ❤
I just started my weight loss journey 3 weeks ago. I started at 286.5 lbs. Today I am 271.2lbs- so I am happy to have such a good weight loss- but I am also worried about loose skin from losing to fast. I am on a ketogenic diet-I keep my carbs at 50g or less a day. I have also started fasting this week and I am not as hungry now so my calories are now 1000-1400 a day. I am interested in supplements, therapies and nutrients I can work into my plan to try to prevent the loose skin.
