Unfortunately the rot is already in those rails, I would check around the spring cups too because that's another place where they rot out. Also check in the boot floor as more than likely the boot floor will have started rotting too exactly where the chassis rails are. If you can get your hands on a boroscope you could take the back bumper off and there's a small hole in the back panel where you can insert a camera inside the rails which can give you a better idea
Well done keep the vids coming. Yep I know what that's like most of the chassis rails need doing on mine. But to get to mine I've got to drop the back end 😢
The problem when we were welding these up in the 90s...it was always a rush for customers that were completely bombed out on time involved to do it nicely....and didnt want to pay ...just sikaflex it and get through MOT....yeah....😂😂
Very helpful for an issue with my XR3i. A busted thread on a rear hub was identified during a tyre change so can only secure the wheel with three bolts out of four currently. This will really help me replace the hub. Cheers!
That’s a lovely car in what’s got to be the best colour ? What a nice location the show is being held too beautiful. I remember a black 1 running around my town as a 13year old with aspersions to boyracerhood as well as uno turbo , s2rs turbos , 205gtis and novas didn’t really see any cosworths , m3s or s1rs turbos so much happy days ( 1st car was a 1.2 nova ) 40now
Good to see a new video from you. It is a good solution to glue the wheel arch compared to spot welding it as many do. Glue does not rust. Thanks for a very good video. Best regards from Norway
Thank you, yes I’ve see a lot of other videos on RU-vid doing the same with panel bonding the arches on. Hopefully it will seal the lips together and stop the water getting between them.👍
I've got the same job to do on my escort, going to replace the arches on mine. Luckily enough the outer arch isn't as bad and the body kit will hide where I'm going to weld from. Great work/video
@@ModernClassics81 yes it does, have done boot floor on 1 side and just about to put new chassis rail on passenger side so might aswell do arches now too, will have a look back on some of your videos as I'm pretty sure part of the inner arch has gone too, what sealer did you use to bond the arch on?
Nice job looks really nice I’d be very happy with that 👌 I’ve been watching Dave for a long time he’s super talented and a great chap I’ve learned so much from him to 👍
Hi thanks for the comment, currently I haven’t noticed any rust around the sunroof but prevention is better than cure so I will probably remove the roof lining and try coat it with something, also will make sure the sunroof drain hole are all clear.
happy new year and congrats on reaching 1k subs, gimbal definitely takes time to get used to but makes for much smoother filming, keep up the good work
I was clean shaven when I watched this video and made a promise to myself not to shave again until your next video at the moment my current look would get me a job in Santa's grotto.
Great car, I had one like that years ago G525 JRN yours looks in great condition for an 87 car. Subscribed as I'm currently doing a Fiesta RS turbo and will be replacing the rear arches on that too. Keep the videos coming
Keep up the good work fella, defo need to raise the car up on some jack stands or ramps on one side just to get yourself more access, lying down isn't great for the joints lol
