I will take (have already taken) a look. Help me interpret your comment. "before you ever try once again to..." sounds as if you disagreed with something I said. Did you? What specifically? In what way do you think I should be applying share of voice? Why do you think share of voice is so important?
@@VisualPKM you should read and study more About share of voice. Also i do recommend to read Less Binnet and Peter Field works and 20 years research about marketing and what really works. In short To grow your market share you need to grow your share of voice. This is what real professionals do. If you teach you will never grow your share of voice big enough because number of people who study something for mastery is drastically low and your audience always will be small. On the other hand there are huge number of people who highly likely will watch INTRODUCTORY level of video and not return later. Also researches have proved that brands do not grow in the way conventional "marketing" tells. Just dont do a video about this topic later. This info is best to keep to yourself. I am sharing only because of gratitude for your help with maps of knowledge about different systems for PKM
I understand. I really appreciate your help! Your clarification is very informative. I think an "Introductory" video about a topic would likely fit the topical / how-to category. Both Tiago and Billy advise against that. So I think we are in agreement. It may need clarification... as it is not obvious from the Thumbnail, in the context of the book teaching is about making a case for the beliefs required for a prospect to become a customer. For cold prospects this is about creating awareness. Those who become aware will return, the rest will look for something else. As for market share, that is not really my primary concern. I am seeking people who are interested in, or rather passionate about visual PKM. I don't want a large market share as that comes with is own headache. I just want the 1000 true fans. I am seeking those who aspire mastery. Out of the 8 billion people alive today, hoping to find 1000 who matches this criteria seems like an attainable target. If you were me, how would you grow your market share? What next actions would you specifically recommend?
Hi Everyone, I'd love to hear your thoughts about the book, visual thinking, my approach to generating a blog post, and the upcoming changes to the Visual Thinking Workshop. Please share your thoughts below. Don't forget, you can download a copy of this book on a page from here: ko-fi.com/s/4476fc44f5
3:20 "Open the Obsidian Panel" How? I don't have that little purple icon. (only the book icon) And what are all the icons on the left side? How can I see them?
you said it 3 years ago what I need to hear why didn't I come across this before, I totally failed in trying to come up with an approach with PARA and LYT all these stupid methodologies confusing as hell but exaclidraw is what I needed to use for sketchnotes all this time. Thanks.
Love this video. great job. listened to it a few times and saved for future listening. Love hearing about study and note taking systems as I try to find more ways to retain and gain more knowledge.
Your question is very timely. It prompted me to revisit the template I filled out for Visual PKM. In short, the answer is yes, but truth is always slightly more nuanced than that. I believe in commitment and self-priming, but not action tracking. By self-priming I mean, I believe when we articulate visions, approaches, strategies or targets for ourselves, our minds will take those statements and treat them as patterns... Then we will spot and take opportunities that match those patterns. Therefore yes, now that I have revisited the worksheet from March 2024, I can confirm I am executing the strategy I laid out for myself, even though I haven't checked what is in the document on a regular basis.
@@VisualPKM I really appreciate your response, but I can’t really picture what you are saying, I can just vaguely interpret it. Would you be able to respond with a dumbed down response as if you were explaining it to a child?
You can. With the set stroke width script, or you can create your script to toggle stroke width based on your needs (e.g. to iterate a scale of different preset width), or for free draw you can define custom pens with custom worthless.... You can also save stroke width to your template so that the new drawings initializes with your preferred stroke width.
@VisualPKM sir thanks for replying will definitely try to do that but SORRY to say I'm just a normal non techie Fan of Excelidraw... why dont you include an easy toggle down gui option in tool 😔😔 if you could... pls do.... Everyone desperately needs proper stylus support and definitely it will make obsidian one of the perfect note taking app....
@@suryakant1112 how did you try to install it. I just opened the script library from the plugin and clicked to install "Set Stroke Width of Selected Elements" and it installed without any issues. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-P_Q6avJGoWI.htmlsi=sKJNoja_5aEdpxnR&t=553
@@suryakant1112 I hear you loud and clear! There are many features that could be built. But the gap between "could" and "will be" is huge! The plugin is a hobby project that I made available to others to use as-is. My primary drive is to build a tool that supports my own use cases and workflow, something, I can use myself for my own purposes. The Excalidraw plugin in its current form achieves that beautifully. I think the current product is far better in many ways than any alternative on the market (especially when you calculate in the price :)). Yes, there are a few quirks you need to learn, but trust me, the effort of learning those is nothing compared to the effort of building the plugin. Frankly, I have extremely limited energy to improve on features that work well for me. I am sorry to be so blunt, but I also need to maintain boundaries, else I will end up spending my very limited time building features I don't myself need... Doing it for free - just out of love. That does not quite work on the long term.
hey, I really love the thick to thin custom pen for my mind maps. is there a way to enable the custom pen by default, so when I create a file and select the pen, it selects a custom pen by default?
I want to know why we have to focus on gpt only why we are not able to use other llm models also Can you please upgrade your workflow by adding more options for llms like gemini and groq as they will provide more scale to your work
I think you can set up other LLMs with AI for Templater. Please check the documentation for AI for Templater. Else you can always edit the provided templater script to add the fetch call for whatever LLM you want to use.
you can zoom from 10% to 3000% I think that is a decent range. If you want a zoom outside this range you can use the Custom Zoom script to zoom to another value. As for text sizes, if you hold down the ALT key while clicking on the text size selector S, M, L, XL you'll get a size based on the Fibonacci series. If you hold down the SHIFT+ALT while clicking S, M, L, XL you'll get a size that is S, M, L, XL relative to the current zoom of the canvas.
You'll need to provide more information. i suggest opening an issue on Github and providing a sample file to demonstrate the issue. I personally do not experience a change - so this could be caused by another plugin or other change on your end. what kind of rules are you thinking? In short, there are no technical rules. You can pick any 5 colors and configure them to be the top five. They don't even need to feature in the detailed pick list, you can have 5 completely different colors.
@@VisualPKM actually,I tried several colors, but when I took my notes, it looks just mess, now,I try to use 2 vivid colors and 1 secondary color to organize my content ,that skill learned from your former video , its better, thank you, I will try more sets of color to find my own way of organizing my notes.
So far I have been using Canvas in Obsidian to make mind maps. Unfortunately this is so limited, even with plugins. After this video I need to try out the Excalidraw plugin! Thanks Zsolt! 💪
Deal Zsolt, could you concentrate your efforts on making it easier to work with concept maps in Excalidraw? It would also be helpful to have more videos on this topic. Thank you so much.
@@VisualPKM let's start from the craziest idea. I dream to generate concept maps with AI. You give a text to excalidraw script and it generates a concept map for you.
@@netneutrality2024 this you can already do - but frankly I don't see the value. The value in creating a concept map is the effort of coming up with the map, as the process pinpoints the gaps in my knowledge. Generating something might look nice, but I've gained nothing. That said, click more tools at the right side of the top tools panel, select text to diagram, and prompt GPT to generate a concept map for you. You will need to configure an OpenAI api key for this in plugin settings. But Excalidraw can do this right out of the box. If you want more control over the generation, then install the ExcaliAI script and configure your own prompt.
@@VisualPKM Thanks for finding time to answer me. I'm going to sign up and get gpt4-o mini API key (as it seems way cheaper than gpt4-o) to test concept map generation.
"Excalidraw: Convert markdown note to Excalidraw Drawing" Command seems that it does not use Templater Plugin. After converting it, my file content still contain something like that: "![[<%tp.file.title%>.svg]]"
When Templater runs depends on your Templater settings, not Excalidraw. When you convert an existing markdown note into an Excalidraw note, it will not automatically trigger Templater as you can only configure Templater to run on new file creation or execute Templater manually. Note also that you can only run Templater in Markdown view mode as Templater does not support the Excalidraw view. To automate your Excalidraw view you can use ExcalidrawAutomate. You might find this interesting. I have an example here with a refined version of the back of the note template: excalidraw-obsidian.online/Hobbies/Excalidraw+Blog/WIKI/05+Examples+and+Templates/Hybrid+markdown-excalidraw+note+template
Hey Zsolt, is there a way I can link things together similar to Scrintal or Heptabase, and see / search for those links? Like if I have a branch called Ice Cream can I draw a line to Favorite Things and then when I open Favorite Things or Ice Cream in obsidian I can see the links?
You can develop your own Excalidraw Automate script to apply links to your markdown notes. The underlying issue is that Obsidian will infer links based on the contents of your markdown notes not the drawing... So if you place [[file 1]] and [[file 2]] on [[drawing]] then Obsidian will show [[file 1]] and [[file 2]] linked to [[drawing]]. But if you want to link [[file 1]] with [[file 2]] on your [[drawing]] with an arrow such that Obsidian also sees a link between [[file 1]] and [[file 2]] then you need to modify [[file 1]] and/or [[file 2]] based on the drawing. You need a script that interprets the arrow and adds a link to [[file 1]] in [[file 2]] or to [[file 2]] in [[file 1]]. You could maybe create these additional links in document properties of [[file 1]] and/or [[file 2]]. The challenge you'll face when developing this script will be keeping track of changes. What happens when you delete the arrow on [[drawing]] between [[file 1]] and [[file 2]]? If [[file 3]] was on the drawing, and had a link to [[file 2]] but not an arrow on the drawing, what do you do? I could imagine 2 solutions... 1) A simple linker script, that you need to run manually, and which will create the links as represented on the drawing adding links between connected elements. This script would not maintain changes but would give you a once off opportunity to transform your arrows into file links. 2) Build a complex an indexer of sorts that would process all your Excalidraw files, then update all the impacted markdown files in your vault using a dedicated document property managed by the indexer. But that would be a very invasive approach and a complex indexe logic. I personally think 1) is not very useful in practice, and 2) is difficult to write and again not very useful in practice. But both options can be developed.
@@VisualPKM Thank you for such a detailed response! I wonder, is there a sort of "listener" that I could implement that in real time checks for changes to specific elements/properties? Perhaps something even from the f11 menu? Honestly, option 1 could be very good. Both scrintal and heptabase have severe shortcomings, so even a one-off linker could achieve the bulk of the work. Another possibility, just to have a line drawn from card-to-card if there is a [[reference]] to that card? and then allow the line to be changed in its color and curvature manually so as not to directly interfere with too much? So if I want to have a line appear from Cat to Dog I could just reference [[Dog]] in the cat note, then have a customizable line appear on the canvas
@@thebeatles9 ExcaliBrain draws the line from card to card. You can stop excaliBrain and save your current layout at any time. With minimal changes the writing machine script could be converted into what you are looking for (as for the Option 1 once off). I bet even ChatGPT could do it for you if you supplied it with this full conversation and the script from Writing Machine. I'd start my prompt like this: Modify this ExcalidrawAutomate script to....
Yeah... the video is slightly dated. Look for templates in plugin settings under the "Basic" section. There is also a newer video referenced there in settings.
Simply brilliant, seeing the monkey gif 🐒 made me think of the option to do this with our own drawings ✍️, saving the position of objects in a sequence 🔃 to create a kind of animation 🙊👀
