The other gateway on the other side next to Poachers Cottage is also in a poor state. If only Trentham Gardens used some of the expensive fees people pay to get in to improve these 2 areas! Also saw an urban explorers video looking in the old hall ruins & it is shocking how they have let it get that bad!
Another wonderful post, spent many years as a keen photographer wandering Keele woods especially in the spring but never seen this. Thanks again for sharing.
On another site, there are a lot of comments from folks claiming to be direct descendants of Molly Leigh. They are mistaken, because she had no children, hence, no direct descendants. This includes Sybil Leek.
Loving your history analysis of staffs as I’ve grown up Stafford,Cheadle, eccleshall, stoke. Born in longton now living in birches head thank you for all the nostalgia you provide me and many interesting facts I never knew of. Great videos 👍👀
You have to give credit to the workers who built this. What did they do for the foundation? How deep is it? The walls don’t seem to be sinking. Quite amazing.
I'm in the Southwest of the U.S., so this sort of folly/ruin is especially fascinating. Thank you for going into the history and sharing the old paintings and photos. We have 1800s ghost towns and mines, and abandoned early 20th Century gas stations and roadside diners here in the deserts and mountains. And much less green. :)
From the narration it seems that it should have been completely enclosed to perform it's function. So was there a wall on the east side and if so at what point was it lost?
Yes there was, it would have been completely enclosed. There is no record of it being lost, but there is a mention of it being on its side in about the 70s I think.
@@garethlock50 You've got admit even at first glance its looks to be buried, when you research into the subject of buried structures you'll find its far more common than you think. Have a look the latest video by My Lunch Break or Paul Cook on the subject of hidden or buried structures. If you also look into starforts (some of them are absolutely amazing) you'll find there are thousands of them worldwide not that they ever teach you that in school.
this was originally a disembarkation station for spaceships, when white people colonized Moorish England. It’s not as well-preserved as some. For a better example see Windsor Castle.
WHY IS THE QUESTION !!!!!!!!!!!!Its not just the Stoke area where this IS happening ! We live in South Cambridgeshire where the roads ARE JUST AS BAD if not worse than in the Stoke area. Our SCD council is the ONLY council in the UK to have approved ITS OWN 4 day so called 'working week' for its council 'employees'...........it gets better !!!!!!!!!! for this 4 day week, THEY WILL ALL BE PAID THEIR USUAL 5 DAY WEEK SALARY!!!!!! SO, IN OUR CASE ITS' REASONABLE TO STATE THAT MONEY FOR ROAD REPAIRS IS BEING SIPHONED OFF TO PAY FOR VERY LAZY council 'workers'. Try getting ANY any damage repairs paid for by the same council !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IMPOSSIBLE .
Wow that take me back to the mid 60's 70's and early 80's when I used to visit my untie Mary and uncle Herbert Riva who lived in Maccelsfield. As my untie was a local cub leader, and I used to go on walks with them as a child and later on with my wife and children where we enjoying camping at Barnside Camping ground with her and her group were we walking around Rudyard Lake and the local area. Past the hall many a time, such a shame it's like it is now though. Good informative video though, well done.
As an ex pilot I love this even though I never knew it existed. Seems to me Stoke on Trent council haven’t changed since not realising potential in local things 😂😂 keep up your amazing vids
Great vid. Thankyou. My mum used to tell us she put windscreens in Bristol Beaufighters and Mosquitos but I didnt realise it would of been in the old Creda factory. Very interesting, thankyou for sharing your findings.👍
Thanks Jenna. I live literally, a stone's throw from the old factory. Nice to see more info about the area. It was Creda when I was a lad, making washing machines and cookers. Also, where Tesco is, used to be Staffs Pots, and my father-in-law worked there when he was 16. He used to cycle there and back from Kingsley Holt, every day. I wouldn't want to do that!! We don't know we're born today. 🤣
I never knew this 😮had absolutely no idea. Oh wow, it’s crazy to think we had this, like everything they built houses on it , I know there’s always a need for homes but it’s such a shame when they build in some places that once had all this history to it. I have noticed the plane on Tesco to be honest and always thought it very random 😂 now I know why. Thank you so much for this, I absolutely love history as I’ve gotten older, this was fantastic. I don’t know anybody that’s ever mentioned about this before either. I absolutely loved this. ❤
As someone who is into flight simulation and aviation , it is amazing the photos you have, I always knew we had an airport, but not exactly where it was, thanks for this ❤ Awesome video ❤
My old man used to ride motorbikes on the aerodrome site in the 70s! And ive defo never noticed the windvein on top of tesco before. Another mega video 👍
I'm a bit young to remember it as an Aerodrome, but we still called it the Aerodrome in the late 70s/80s, when we used to play youth football on it. We used the garage behind the Saracen's Head pub to get changed.
Super video. Remember the aerodrome well as my brother worked at Harrison-Mayer on the estate. Shame there is nothing really to show of the remnants. Really enjoyed this one
Wow, got quite emotional watching this. I remember as a 12 year old being allowed to ride my bike to Meir Aerodrome with a group of friends which would have been around 1972. Thank you so much for another wonderful video.
