This is a chess game between Bobby Fischer and Osvaldo Bazan from Mar del Plata 1960. In a Queen's Gambit Declined, Ragozin Defense, Bazan sacrifices a pawn. In exchange for it, he enjoys a safer king position and a lead in development. Featured in this 33-move encounter are multiple aesthetic moves by both players as well as a string of 11 best moves by Fischer.

13:58 why not move rook to e4 CHECK, then just take knight with other rook, let bish take then take bishop?
@RAMESHKOTIKALAPUDI
@RAMESHKOTIKALAPUDI 3 месяца назад
How's your variation better? At the end of that variation, white is a full rook down. Not sure what you missed; probably the fact that the black king will take white knight when getting out of rook check.

Very impressive to see Bobby Fischer move one of his Rooks for the first time on the twenty-eighth move, and then win by moving his Rooks just four times during the all game

Great game, I would like to add a point to the video. After 7...c5!? 8.e3 Nc6?! is a bit sus because white can just play 9.dxc5! (instead of 9.Be2?!) and now black has to play with isolated pawn for the rest of the game. Of course in the game Fischer's opponent went for 9.Be2?! g5 10.Bg3 Ne4 which led to some complications. I want to point out if you want to play Fischer's g5 idea you can go for 7...g5 (instead of 7...c5) 8.Bg3 Ne4 and now white has to know the correct move which is 9.Nd2! sacrificing the pawn! If white is careless and plays 9.Rc1? you play 9...h5! with the idea h4 next move and white is really in trouble. So long story short I think g5-Ne4 with c5 push looks a bit better for first look but that can often be wrong due to dxc5 ideas so you have to watch out for that. g5-Ne4 with h5 push can be more effective however if white doesn't know the correct responses white is in trouble. Great video tho, I enjoyed watching it

Thanks. I’ve carelessly played Rc1 before in fast controls and felt the pain of the h5 idea. Good points 👍

At 10:15, I found f6, not by any grand intuition of chess, but by the virtue of the answer to Jerry's pop quiz "how does Fischer save the X?" is "he doesn't" 70% of the time. 😆 I was surprised by both this being the best move according to the engine, and that Fischer didn't play it.

Fischer was a tactical beast! Keep in mind this game was in 1960 when Fischer was only 16-17 years old! 12 years before he won the world championship.

It's quite something to see what seem to be "just" good moves suddenly turn into white bypassing black's defenses.

I can't really say that Fischer in this match completely outplayed his opponent. He simply had a slight advantage over his opponent. And he used it to convert a win. Similarly to what Magnus normally does to his opponents.

Looks to me like Fischer was better or outright winning for more than half the game. Keep in mind that Fischer was only 16-17 years old here. But continue hating.

Fisher took the initiative right from the start. I got carried away by this game I only realized three minutes in, that he was playing black, not white. Such effortless attacking and rock solid defense shows me that Fisher was the better player here. But what do I know about chess, right? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
