I'm starting the Colorado Trail as my first thru hike in less than two weeks and the excitement is overwhelming. It just feels so surreal that after watching thru hiking videos for years I will finally be heading out to do it myself. I appreciate that you share these adventures with us, may it inspire others to do the same.
What a pleasant surprise. Who would have thought that a seven year old comment would get a response. It sure brings back alot of good memories! I’m not sure if I’ve told you, but you (ER) had a lot to do with me getting to the trail and being successful. For that I thank you. I hope you are doing well also.
I lived in CO for 16 years before having to move to FL, and I miss it terribly. It's my dream to someday be able to move back and thru hike the CT. Your videos are beautifully done and capture the feeling of those mountains as well as any I've seen. Thank you for putting these together, I'm on my third time through watching them now. They give me such a sense of peace and bring back vivid memories of being in some of those exact locations.
As a hiker myself. You know you've worn your pair of comfy socks too long. When you take them off at night, and they crawl off and hide from you :) This is a very beautiful video. I will keep watching. Oh, I live in Wyoming.
I use microcosmic orbit internal martial art technique to overcome fatigue by stimulating body. I had success using microcosmic orbit to increase walking pace up Springer Mountain west route. While swimming mile after first 10 minutes my pace slows for 60 seconds before faster pace returns with second wind. Microcosmic orbit during symmetrical breast stroke decreases second wind recovery from normal 60 seconds to 10 seconds. My opinion is adrenal glands stimulation is reason for fast pace swimming or walking uphill. Day 36 Early Riser uphill warrior challenge (+15:10) reminded me of microcosmic orbit benefit. Surprised Early is not familiar with this technique due to his Ranger training.
I find myself rediscovering your page whenever I get a sense of impending major change, struggle, or just need some peace. Especially your AT thru hike series, which quite literally changed my life during a very transitional period of my life. Thank you.
Just found your youtube channel. Awesome content!! Love the interaction you give us with your commentary, interesting info and amazing filming the majestic mountains of Colorado!! Thanks
Wow. This is amazing stuff - all of it, the camera work, the views, the ease in which you present a message even without dialog. There are so many things I want to pick your brain about. Obviously hiking being a priority at the moment because I promise you, my hiking doesn’t look like that 😂. I genuinely look forward to watching more of your content whenever I complete this trek. I appreciate your support and hope to chat sometime. Thank you. This is amazing stuff.
Thanks, bro. This is an example of how far I've evolved in my mind from those first videos hiking the AT. My mind is so much quieter now. There's no desire for me to hit record and ramble on about "busy things" even though all those who have followed me since the AT still want the busy-mind me in the videos (look at the comments 😁). It has taken many trails and many hours of meditation and reflection to reduce the primacy of my giant-ass ego. That's where I think your gift lies. You are at a peaceful place mentally and can now let that place come out in verbal communication. That's powerful! That's a gift only a few have. It's a superpower. I tried to express aesthetically in my video because it doesn't flow naturally for me in verbal form. Thanks for the comment. Stay the course out there. There are many more people and places that are patiently awaiting your arrival, they just don't know it yet. 🤘🕑
This day 31 video indicates hiker Ed left Springer on March 1, 2017 and slept at Old Orchard Gap shelter mile 509 on March 16, 2024. 509 miles / 15 days = 33.9 miles per day average. What did Ed do differently to complete consecutive 34 mile days?
@@EarlyRiser71 - Early Riser AT hiking videos have matter of fact down to business attitude. Some of this results from being a retired ranger. What else have you done to provide this focus? Did you finish college degree and what did you study? What type of work are you employed in? Early Riser choices have efficient time management which creates more miles hiked per day. I took a college class in how people think which causes me purse why some people create a more productive result. Life is not easy which means any motivation to focus on the better parts of life can improve life.
I started Sep 3, 2021 from Durango Thinking about the second week of September this year. Planning to do a fund raising hike for k9s United….with the dog.
@@rmoran113 Then we passed somewhere on trail in 2021. I left Denver Aug 23 or 24th that year. I think I finished in Durango on Sep 16th (or something close to that).
Curious why did the East? Assume you did west last hike? I’ve done west twice and East once…noticed you didn’t go into Salida. If you did again curious what you’d change. Ie town resupply etc. i like the double town stay in Frisco.. the tram works great!
Yes, did the west in 22 and east in 23. Both are great, west has more views, east is more of a cool forest walk. As for trail towns, I do wish I went into Salida, but my bigger milage days made it not make sense. Must town stops are Frisco amd Lake City. Lake City is an awesome little town. It's expensive but if on a budget they have options. Resupply there is very expensive so I sent a box both years.
@@EarlyRiser71think I’ll do west fir a third time, east was a bore…with that said I night hiked most of East😂. I can’t help but stop in Salida, moonlight pizza is a godsend! Lake city is a neat lil town and the coffee shop and bakery are awesome! I have a friend who just moved to creede so may go there next. Thx again
Thanks for the comment! Remind me where we met. North side of the Smokies? The CT is awesome. Even after doing it twice, I still want more. Love that trail. 🤘🕓
I can feel your struggle Trey. What are you running for ? What are you scared of? You don't think God can forgive? If you only knew how good He really is lol. You're missing out Trey ! Do this for yourself. And your family. And everyone else in your realm. Get a New King James Version Bible. And not because my Grandpappy's bruncles cousins neighbor's mailman said to use it. (I've done the research. Just get that one.) I don't feel like explaining why. It's the Word of God. Just trust me. And if some crazy Baptist tells you only the King James Bible is good.... don't argue with them. Tell them that was written in 1611 and there's no once saved always saved lol. Ok.... where were we.... Get a NKJV BIBLE. Get alone with God. Humbly ask God to show Himself to you. Pray. Step out in faith. Open that Bible and wherever your eyes first land....READ IT !!!! Just talk to Him. Read that Bible. Tell Him you're sorry for doing bad stuff. He is so good Trey. It's not just you. You've gotta help save your family too Trey. Don't be that guy on Judgment Day that watches his family thrown into Hell. Knowing you could have and should have helped. Quit being selfish. It's not just about you..... All those warriors you help train and lead too. You know they're going into combat. You're missing chances to save souls. You need to get alone with God Trey. It's not just me He has sent to warn you. If you'd listen He will help you. ON HIS TERMS !!! not ours... He keeps showing me tears..... and crying. What's that mean to you? I hope you're ok Trey. ❤..... if you need to message me buddy. Trey..... get that Bible. Read it. Pray. There's no time left brother. God is going to save you Trey. 🙏 ❤.... God bless you in Jesus precious name ❤️ 🙏....
I really enjoyed your AT thru hike and your more recent Colorado Trail Hike and learned a lot! Thanks. I have decided to attempt a thru hike of the AT starting at Amicalola Falls on February 21, 2024! I hope you and your family are doing well. Take care.
12:02 those were our llamas in the field along Elk Creek! This was my first exposure to the CT. I’m hooked. I feel a strong pull to attempt the thru hike in 2024. I just finished your book “Pushing North…”. I’m 53 and a bit worried about being able to physically complete the trail. More so, I’m concerned if I can mentally handle the thru hike. Your book encouraged me and provided tools to help strengthen my rider to properly guide the elephant. Thank you!
Those were your llamas? How cool is that? I was in pretty rough shape after that decent and was just looking for a camp spot. The llamas made me smile and took my mind off the pain train for a minute. The trail is hard, but doable. It's definitely worth trying. Start in Denver not in Durango. Thanks for giving Pushing North a shot! 🤘🕓
Looks like my CT journey this year may be go. I just wanted to ask if you recommend the Gossamer G4-20 pack? They are on sale through 3/24 at a good price for a guy on a limited budget. Thanks in advance.
What an honor this morning to see you subscribed to my “baby” channel! I’ve heard your name sprinkled around different channels, but I guess I hadn’t looked you up. I see you did the Long Trail and the Colorado Trail, both trails on my list for a thru hike to move from a “weekend warrior” on the AT to a “thru hiker”. on at least those two trails. I plan to make the Long Trail my first thru hike since I grew up in Vermont. What is the name of your book?
Good to hear Kriz! Glad it's your turn! I look forward to following! I forgot about these videos. Not sure why I sat in a dark room and filmed this?😂 The mid-video commercials should not be happening. Those aggravate me. They should be fixed now. 🤘🕓
I just finished watching all of your AT thru hike and I will be starting mine this year February 21st. I just wanted to say thank you for sharing all your experiences they'll help me tremendously as i embark on my journey.
Good luck. Don't quit. All the magic happens in the last 1/3. Tons of incredible experiences before then, but at some point, the magic switch turns on! 🤘🕓
@@EarlyRiser71 Warrior mindset and start everyday early is what you have helped me realize! Just finished the Foothills trail and got my first 2 - 20 mile days in so I am amped up
Hey ER! Ran into you the first couple days and was trying to find at Kenosha campground. I had to get off trail because of a tic bite I got in Vermont the week before started to show bruising… Anyways really learned a lot from you and will continue next year!
Great to hear from you. I always wondered what happened to you that day. I camped right behind the campground after grabbing water from the pump. Hope your time on the CT next year is awesome. 🤘🕓
