5:25 you were spitting fire atp. A remaster would reignite the fan base. Sales would go crazy. And development for the 4th game would go crazy if they throw in some new features and a flowing storyline that concludes the series. AND ADD ISAAC TO SMASH BROS!!!😂
i gavent watched vid but this game was underappreciated. It is still an amazingly crafted game the hype was just to big from the first one. They just had some downgrades but the upgrades in the overall formula kicked ass. Anyone who wasnt a fan when this first came out i suiggest giving it another try.
This is the first Nintendo handheld I got as I just wasn't a big fan of the 8-bit consoles including the Gameboy or GBC. I did have a Nomad and TurboExpress but those were 16-bit. It was nice to finally get a Nintendo handheld that was quite a bit more advanced than even those and with all the awesome games that came out for it, I still play them to this day on emulators.
Life is crazy. My first system was a GBP, which I soon upgraded to the horizontal GBA. Today, I have a microscopic 1tb micro sd with every game for every system up to PS1/N64, 480 PS2 and 700 PSP. I play them all on my Anbernic in my pocket now. I think 10 year old me is still so impressed by big games playing on a little handled
I have a similar experience with Tales where I tried a few over the years and then ended up really digging Berseria. I've been enjoying playing Phantasia (PS1) for the first time recently.
Great video ! I LOVE the GBA (i bought a GBA-SP in 2004\5). In 2007 i dicovered that the console can run decent 3D games (that year i bought Driv3r for the GBA). Driv3r was my first 3D game, and my fourth game at the time after Super Mario Bros 4, Alien Hominid and Mario Kart Super Circuit. Since 2007 i started to collect all the 3D games that i can find. Some of my favorite ones are : - 2006 FIFA World Cup - ATV Quad Power Racing - Big Mmutha Truckers - Cars Mater National Championship - Colin McRae 2.0 - Corvette Anniversary - Crazy Taxy Catch a Ride - Driv3r - Ford Racing 3 - GT Racers - Hot Wheels Stunt Track Challenge - Ice Nine - 007 Nightfire - Karnaaj Rally - Kill Switch - Killer 3D Pool - Lego Drome Racers - MX 2002 Featuring Ricky Carmichael - Monster Truck Madness - Monster Trucks - Need for Speed Underground - Need for Speed Underground 2 - Need for Speed Most Wanted - Need for Speed Carbon - Ozzy & Drix - Payback - Quad Desert Fury - Robot Wars Extreme Destruction - Street Racing Syndicate - SSX 3 - SSX Tricky - Serious Sam Advance - Smashing Drive - Smuggler's Run - Sonic Battle - Spider Man 2 - Star X - Starsky & Hutch - Stuntman - Taxi 3 - Tokyo Xtreme Racer Advance - Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam - Top Gear Rally - Trick Star - V Rally 3 - Wing Commander Prophecy
somehow it feels like dusk dawn was meant to be played before you play the original. bc you get hyped up so much for the old squad and also the game is easier...
I really really liked tales of phantasia. The only real thing i wish was different was controlling cless in combat. Whenever you swing it takes away control of the character.
Hello! Thanks for your video!! I got this game the other day and I loved it! But I always knew about its bad reception, so I wanted to understand what was so bad about it. So, again, thank you! I'm not into turn-based RPG games honestly, so I wouldn't understand on my own. You were very fair in criticizing the quality of the music and the appearance in general, I always found it charming and retro so I didn't mind, but yeah, the drawings were... interesting. And with all due respect, I have to disagree with you on the touch-screen system, if anything, it makes the battles more engaging, just a few of those POW moves were really difficult (mostly Tails and Cream's) and for that, you can get the Chao that you already mentioned, I never saw that as something negative, you just face a difficult and you can get a unique upgrade/equipment to deal with it. And again, I really liked the touch-screen system, if anything, they could try this again with a rhythm-system or something (like how you have to press the buttons in the Miku games)
The GBA version was my introduction into the tales series. I had a lot of fun playing it, but I can see what you mean about us being robbed after seeing some of these clips.
I got this in my feed randomly and I gotta say, seeing you miss so many of the POW commands hurts my soul as someone who's beaten this game multiple times over. The action commands weren't even all that new if you consider how Elite Beat Agents came out 2 years prior and that's the entire game. Aside from that, I agree with a lot of what you said. A very unpolished RPG with a lot of good ideas and very solid writing held back by its own budget. I just can't help but love it as the one Sonic game I actively replay.
I know this is old, but i would have appreciated clear markers in the video separating your talk on games, its hisory, the console itself, etc. Like you already organized the video that way so putting a vusual cue and chapters would have been nice. I dunno, it was a good vid.
The color saturation on the GBA version is 100% because of the fact that the original GBA didn't have a backlight, a lot of early GBA games had really high color contrast to compensate.
I wish we’d get a Tales of Phantasia, Destiny, Eternia, Destiny 2 and Rebirth remasters akin to Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster using the PSP versions (Destiny 1 didn’t have a PSP port but rather use its PS2 remake) as basis’s while we wait for the next entry. Probably won’t be until 2026 or later but I’m patient. That would be awesome. I felt that Symphonia’s remaster was somewhat disappointing because it omitted Dawn of a New World which is why I didn’t bother picking it up but I’m patient for a new entry. I want a remaster of Legendia or Abyss.
I’ve always thought the DS launched too soon (should’ve waited a year) and thought it was the cause of the GBA’s early death. I wish that system was supported up until 2009. Why didn’t the 6th Gen last longer?😭 Don’t get me wrong, I really did enjoy the DS and its games. The PS5 and Series X/S should’ve done the same thing.
But the 3DS was an awesome successor to the DS though. I will always remember the 3DS for its awesome RPGs. The PSP I thought was superior both in terms of power and game library and usually beat out the DS version, Umihara Kawase being the exception. Why is that?
God... I still havent finished Lost Age, (or Chrono Trigger...), I really should just watch a playthrough. It sits in front of me my desk, but I have my gaming PC... I beat the original back in the day, and a few years later I started on Lost Age, got the boat, didnt know where to go, and havent touched it in like, over 15 years. I started Dark Dawn and didnt get far in that either but i've heard before how it was a let down. A shame really.
Its funny to hear how much you like the Dungeons in Dark Dawn for exactly what I dislike about them :D To me they are a bit to short and I would have enjoyed them just a bit longer. I personally dont feel like I got to lost in the previouses entrys dungeons since I felt like they folded very neatly. You very often head like two or three spots you cant walk through and when you advanced in the dungeon you were able to push a pillar aside or sth to unlock a fast way to the previous section which for me gave the dungeon a feeling a well folded space instead of a tube.
I just want t say golden sun 3 is a rancid pile of dog shit that completely discards all the old character development and story lines and I hate it and hope it burns in hell
Problem with Dark Dawn is it wasn't an upgrade from previous game as Lost Age was from the first. Lost Age granted so much depht to the world, the mechanics, the story, the equipement, on the same console, it was astonishing at the time. When few years later Dark Dawn came up, there was basically nothing new. The best equipement is exactly the same as the previous game, same names and stats, same amount of djinns, same summons except just one new. It was disappointing for someone who had beaten the two previous because you knew by a certain point that the game held no surprises for you, every character being an archetype of early heroes.
For those interested in getting rare forge items: Running in and out of the sanctum in yallam is also just as effective and is quicker. If you’re playing on the switch like I did. Fastest way to soft reset: Hold down ZL and ZR go back to game selection immediately reload software. It’s annoying and cheesy, buts it’s the fastest way to get something like Excalibur without farming orihalcon. Because THAT is annoying. Also: Some enemies drop even rarer items notably ones that ivan, sheba, mia, and jenna can hold. And they can all be easily/accessibly RNG manipulated if you’re willing to do a little leg work reading the golden sun wiki.
Honestly the only thing that made me dislike the game was the slow talking and exposition and animations with no way to speed up the process, that and that theres a ponr like why why does that exist
I hope you return someday, but ultimately what made your channel so special is right in the description: you did it for fun. And if it isn't fun anymore, I would rather have this be the way you go out than have you spiral into paid promotions, burnout, etc. I'll always respect your videos and passion. And I'll always anticipate hearing you on UC. Have a nice day Ryan
The points of no return were the worst. I can forgive pretty much everything else to an extent. I don't care for the new unleash system, the plot relied far too heavily on the assumption there would be another game, the combat was probably the easiest in a series known for easy fights, but the points of no return are the worst part. Go left or go right? Choose wrong and you'll never be able to go the other way again without starting a new save file! The other two games would only temporarily cut things off until you set up the game for data transfer! You forgot the ankhs were a new weapon type alongside bows and knuckles.
