Washed up soccer player trying to sort out this distance running space. I’m certainly no expert, but feel free to join me on my journey of marathons, trails, shoe and gear reviews and probably a lot of things that will come up along the way. Stay safe and try to enjoy it 🤘🏻.
If you're not very much concerned about the color, Amazon has them as low as $96.00 now. I had mine delivered a couple days ago. They're very good, indeed.
Just new to your channel, great to see a review about this shoe, by the way i'm size 9cm do i need to add 1cm to feel comfortable when i do long distance using this shoe? Thanks!
i always go true to size with both running and casual shoes. but often people do order a 1/2 size up for distance running because your feet swell after pounding on them for a bunch of miles.
Glad you clicked! Don’t worry, I got pretty wrecked from this workout but I’ve been grinding away at this running thing for years. So for sure a process 🤘🏻
Nice recap and appreciate the emotion on a tough day. You fought through it, were open to running with those guys (when you could’ve just had them move on), and you got it done. Says a lot about you. The training you did is still in “the bank” and will be what you build on going forward. Thanks for sharing this build and recap vid. Looking forward to seeing what’s next.
Really appreciate the comment, it’s been very bittersweet but have had it in my head that the long term goal is to stack a couple training blocks and just keep racing. Gotta have a great day eventually haha.
Dude - I feel ya'. Funny enough I ran into Cody & Sean near the start... similar day myself. Was on track for 3:30 then blew up with cramps, 4:29 final. Still a PR, but learning experiences for sure. Way to keep it to the finish.🤘🏼
Awesome video and recap dude! Hearing your journey, experience, and depiction of the psychological parts of this was super insightful. I know the results weren't what you hoped, but hearing your perspective on your time compared to NYC shows how much potential energy has been built. Looking forward to seeing what's next for you 🤘
Dude Ben! Thanks for the comment man! Yeah, this was a wild ride with a lot of positives. Already itching to get back to it. time for a summer of hot miles!!!
Rly wanted to love this shoe but man, these things were so squirrely for me. I also found them to be way softer than the invincible 3. Also, I rolled the absolute piss out of my ankle, 6 days before a half, in these during a light rain. They are my hospital shoes now. Great for walking and getting blood on them 😂
Hey man! I'm curious if you run in warming temps? (I'm wondering if they felt less cushy for me because I was running through the winter - generally like 15-30 degrees F). But I really appreciate you sharing your thoughts here. Everyone truly has a different experience. Also, sorry about the ankle, that stinks! I feel ya, they are great work shoes. I'm back and forth now between these and the novablast 25's as my "everyday work" shoe.
Hi, I love your content. I recently bought these shoes because I really liked how they felt when I tried them on in the store. However, after wearing them for a while, I've experienced heel fatigue and a strange pain in the arch of my foot. It seems the inner part of the midsole has a very pronounced arch that is causing discomfort. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this and could share their feedback, or if it might just be an issue specific to me. Thanks.
Just came across your build series after looking for some Buffalo course videos, godspeed next sunday and I may be right around you as I'll aim for a sub-4. But my coach is thinking I could tackle a 3:30... so we'll see!
Yooo! If you see me say hi! I keep checking the weather and thinking the sun will take a bit off my pace. Looking Forward to exploring the pain cave a bit 🤘🏻
Good practical review. I happened to find same colorway at a great price, also. Agree with all of your main points. I tend to do well with wide-soled, stable stuff and agree that this has good platform and 'geometry' for my stability needs. Coming from the v3, I wasn't so sure about the (v4) softer gap-heel. Early days, but it doesn't seem like a huge negative, thus far.
@@KyleMcCueRunning Well, unfortunately the pendulum quickly swung back into negative territory on the softer gap-heel, for me. Some unpleasant, and unfamiliar achilles irritation. In fairness to NB, I was getting a surprising level of "stability" satisfaction out of the firmer v3. The targeted neutral squish-lover, really isn't me. Bummed, because I don't know what might work next. Possibly 'Kayano 30' , but gotta hate the expensive trials that often fail.
So I have actually worn these casually with the low arch running superfeet insert and think they feel fine. Could be a bit tight but the upper is pretty stretchy in the forefoot so overall I think you could get away with it.
Awesome video man. If you don’t mind me saying, the music was a little loud and overpowered your voice at times. Besides that it was a great video and got my subscription
Great shoe! Picked up the More v4 yesterday. Unfortunately, the 4E (extra wide) version is still $150 :( I regularly see D/regular wide on sale when a new model comes out but the discount hardly ever applies to the wider versions. Sadly seems like Asics is the only brands that regularly discounts the extra wide versions when the next iteration comes out.
I feel your pain on that. I got lucky on some v3 4Es, due to perfect timing at a brick & mortar place, but I would have done better in a slightly longer length if THAT had also been available. I had one salesperson tell me he didn't think the v4 was available in 4E, at all. If something is on the scarce side, tougher to find a good bargain.
Question…. I am a new runner, however, I had back surgery last year. Do you think there is enough difference between the Novablast 4 and the Nimbus 25 to have both of these shoes? I love running in the NB4 but sometimes I wish I had a bit more cushion as I can really feel the impact even with the cushion in the NB4.
hmmm, that's a tough one. I'd say if you can find the nimbus 25's on sale it might be worth it to have a second pair to rotate. If anything it will make your Novablasts last a lot longer. You might also want to look for a pair of novablast 3's on sale in your size (if you can find them). They were such an awesome shoe and might not break the bank as much. Sorry to hear about your back, take it easy and one mile at a time.
I feel the flowing with consistency. Always looked at the Invincibles, but never strayed away from the New Balance More series until this training block I gave the SC Trainer V2s a go. Love them, but already have almost 100 miles in them and want to get something to rotate them with. Looking at the Endorphins you just picked up!
I loved the NB more v4’s! Definitely curious about more NB shoes. I’d say find a running store and try on the endorphin’s when you get a chance, it just hits the sweet spot of light and fast but cushioned and soft. Wild haha
I’m onto my third pair of speed 3’s now. Can’t fault them at all, but I think when the time comes I’ll definitely upgrade to the 4s! Great review, thank you.
I’m jelly! I skipped the 3’s and wish I hadn’t, I think I would have liked the softer ride. I do highly recommend the 4’s once you run the 3’s into the ground haha 🤘🏻
Definitely, if you want to try a carbon plated shoe you could try the new endorphin pro 4’s as well. But I’m about the same weight and going for 3h25min marathon and am considering these as a race day shoe.
@@KyleMcCueRunningI wore the 3s in my Copenhagen marathon, weighing 80KG and came in at 3:11, absolutely no issues with my feet or legs. So I think they are great option for a race shoe!
How'd you feel with carbon shoes on that surface? I primarily use carbon on hard surfaces, and some of that course is more or less hard-pack gravel. I'm running the half this year, and trying to gauge which shoes are best.
yeah so i didn't notice any issues on the softer surface so I think you are good to stay in the carbon plate shoes. although if you are going quite a bit faster than me I'm guessing you might notice not quite getting the "pop" that you normally would on pavement.
Would like to know what you thought of the Maurten and BPN Go Gels. Those are the only two I have tried so far. I will have to try the Unived gels. I have only tried LMNT for electrolytes so far and have thought about giving the BPN G1M a go. Where I live has a limited about of options for gels and drink mixes to try by buying a single pack or two in stores and I hate the idea of buying a whole box to absolutely hate it.
Personally didn’t love maurtens, the jello texture and flavor just wasn’t enjoyable for me. BPN GoGels had a great consistency but the apple cinnamon one I tried was like almost “spicy” (so that scared me away). I also drink LMNT, but i literally sip on one packet over 4-5 days. I just don’t feel like I need that much sodium. I like nuun tablets, less aggressive tasting than LMNT. And I totally hear ya on ordering in bulk online is a risk. I’m working through a Caf box of Unived gels that I don’t “love” but it’s mainly flavor. Next time I’ll try and new one.
@@KyleMcCueRunning I HATED Maurten at first because I was not expecting the jello like consistency, but not I know its there I don't mind it...didn't really have a flavor. I agree on the BPN....curious about the new mixed berry flavor they are working on. I'll have to give Nuun a shot. I know I can pick up a tube locally. Also hear a ton of people talk about Tailwind, but never tried it.
I think that will be very doable, I just got the invincible 3’s for $97 at dicks and those retailed at $180. As new versions come out the sales are hot haha.
My 800 repeats is based on my “goal half marathon pace.” So I’m doing repeats timed at 3:30’s because my goal pace is 7min/mile. I do not recommend doing 8x800’s all out, which is what I think you are saying.
