A LOTR inspired TBR game, with a creator that has the voice of an angel and scratches all of the itches in my brain? Instant love! I'm so excited to see more of these games in the future!
Upon seeing the September TBR video I feared for you, glad to see you had a good time. I've only watched the FMAB anime, and it's sooo good, maybe I'll dive into the manga. I might have to read Piranesi since I hear nothing but good things about it.
Hi Silvia, what a successful reading month :) I liked your passionate reviews :):):) My September ended only with one book fully read but that was due to long vacation and now I'm looking forward to reading in October even more <3 From Blood and Ash was hilarious - I remember that Poppy was so annoying to me that I didn't even care about her relationship with Hawke in the end... And thank you for the review about the Convenience store woman - this seems exactly like the type of book that will make me cry but in a very good day, I really hope to get to it soon :)
I absolutely love your foreshadowing edits 🤣 Good luck with the TBR, and if it helps at all (it doesn't lol), you gave me 2 new booktubers to check out!
Watching this during breakfast is a great way to wake up! I really liked The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, but the solution to the mystery is a little divisive, so i'll be curious to hear your thoughts
I really love your TBR game! You're so creative! I spent some time a couple of weekends ago printing out everything and laminating it so I can play this starting in the new year (I have too many other challenges on the go for this year, so I'm saving it! Lol!). I'm really looking forward to it!!
I love these TBR game videos!!! It's by far the most interesting TBR video format I've seen. And I LOVE the book you grabbed with the orange cover. It reads faster than it looks, don't worry about the size. Super glad you will be checking out that final book in this video :)
Thank you, Brian! I am already reading Sean Song and went through 200 pages in a single evening, so I can confirm - it’s quite easy to read. Can’t wait to get to Ordinary Grace! Have a great reading month! 📚✨
Good Luck with you tbr ! I recently read The murder of Roger Ackroyd and loved it, I hope you will too (the audiobook is free on scribd if you have a subscription). And I also bought a Savior's champion to support the author whose channel I also really love but never read it so I'd be really curious to see what you think of it 😊! Have a great day !
@libraryunbounded I really enjoyed Dead Beat and Small Favor. Past that I honestly enjoyed the beginning of the series more so than the end. By the end I was just trying to get the series finished and there were a couple that I really didn't like which made it hard to continue. Though my feelings and enjoyment kind of went back and forth with the last few books.
I'm sorry the game was so unkind to you this month! 😅 It was still a lot of fun to watch, so thank you! Your TBR video is my favorite BookTube video every month 🥰 I really hope you enjoy all of the books you manage to get to!
I’ve been checking every day this month for this video. I love watching your game. I’m on my second month playing it but I have to confess to a modification for the dead marshes square: I pull a shelf number instead of a single book (because I’m a mood reader) and, most importantly, I don’t go backwards.
@@libraryunbounded I dislike her personality so I'm exagerating a bit, but the book itself is just your typical poorly written, smutty romantasy. Nothing of value can be found there
Ah, don't let it scare you! You don't have to follow all of the rules - you can set limits to the rolls or not go back when you land on the Dead Marshes. I like to make things difficult for myself but nobody else need suffer like this. You could just have fun with it - you have my official permission 😂✨
I have enjoyed playing with you, but on the digital copy the one of end (Pippin?) doesn't have a link connected to him. I can't wait to see how the TBR goes for you this month.
Yes, I mention in the video description that Pippin's version is not ready yet. I was planning on having it done much quicker, but I didn't manage my time well enough. Promise to deliver it before next month though ;)
@@libraryunbounded Thanks for responding. I'm sorry I missed your comment. I love your game though! And I really appreciate you taking the time to build it digitally!
William Kent Krueger... Interesting. His novel 'Northwest Angle' is on my wish list. I learned of this book and the author when I came across a promotional video while looking up interesting geographical points in the United States. It was so random and this is only the second time I've heard that author's name.
The Road still affects me to this day and it was years ago that I read it. I know you don't do movies but the movie version was a good adaption as well. I would have to pass on the Swan. That's just too big of a novel. I miss the old days when 400 pages was about the norm. Everyone is writing 1000 pages epics or a series.
The Road is simply mesmerising. I can't wait to talk about it. Swan Song is indeed huge. But I started it yesterday and so far, reads pretty easily. Lots of points of view though, which surprised me somewhat. Indeed, people like to write big things, which I don't usually mind, just this month it's a bit much... :))
What a game 😅 I'm playing this game digitally, but I really want to print out the prompt booklet "6" to collect my cards and stick them to the reward tracker. The problem is, I can't print 100 color pages of the prompt booklet. Do you think if I print 2 pages of the prompt cards "2" on one page, it would fit in the reward tracker? I hope that makes sense.
I printed the prompt cards at 4 sheets to a page and have stuck them all into my journal, grouped into their collections. When I complete a prompt, I’m adding a dot sticker and writing the month it is completed. This way not only do I save on printing but it’s all easy to find
Actually, what @dragonrambles did is a brilliant idea. But I actually created a new card tracker, that only requires you to print 5 or 6 color pages - all cards are already there and there is a tick box next to them, so you can mark each one you get. I hope it works out for you. But I will think of a better, maybe digital, way to track them eventually. I hope you enjoy the game! ❤️
I read half of these books, you are going to enjoy Kitchen Confidential! The Road is one of those books that you will never stop thinking about, it is special!! I really enjoy this game, the LOTR lore is the icing on the cake!!
Oh, thank you so much, Heidi! I have no doubts about Kitchen Confidential and The Road - you couldn't have described it better! I am speechless and completely mesmerised!
Oh, you are so sweet, Joyce! ❤️ It is a fun mix indeed, hope I find time to read at least some of them 😂 Yeah, Swan Song might've been a mistake - it's when it all went downhill....
Is it just me or do almost ALL contemporary authors just try to write a better version of someone else's book...???where did everyone's vision go..????..Dean Koontz is not part of this group....he's incredible..
There is indeed a trend to just modify already done ideas and write very similar books. I wouldn't say all authors are doing it, I rather think similar books get more popular, because social media tends to promote what people already have proven to like. Dean Koontz was such a nice surprise indeed. Can't believe I hadn't heard of him until this year.
Yes. Chade is very frustrating, especially in Quest. I've thought that Robin Hobb's point is that people are all trash fires and we all constantly go against our stated beliefs and morality that we have both for ourselves and others. That humans can't separate emotion from choosing what to do and that to truly be self-less is often impossible or just selfishness for another reason (Verity). That we often let inaction and pleas to duty be the excuses we use to not do what we know is right. Glad you loved Odd Thomas!
I support (and hope) you make a video about Robbin Hobb's trilogy - want to hear ALL your thoughts. Also laughed out loud that you dumped on the romantasy book and still gave it 3 stars - your optimism is lovable. Excited that you loved Piranesi and looking forward to reading it yearly next year. And adding The Justice of Kings to my TBR (who doesn't LOVE grimdark).
Hi 😊 ! I love piranesi, I'm so glad you loved it as well ! Odd Thomas definitely on my tbr now ^^ ! And I completely agree with you on "justice of kings", it's definitely grim-dark. I didn't enjoy this book much but it's mostly due to personal preference since sadly I'm not a fan of grim-dark. Have a great day !
Hello, I'm not a very fast reader I only read three books in September Ruin and Wrath by John Gwynne and The Grey Bastards by Jonathan French and I just started book 2 The True Bastards. Easily my favorite of the month was Wrath. I bought them as a collection but they were smaller books I liked the series so much that I'm now buying all four of the books in full size. I also bought/buying the Bloodsworn trilogy.
Sounds like a good reading month! Yay! My favorite book for September that I read was This Tender Land by William Kent Krueger. I already want to re-read it. 😊 ❤
Oh, I have heard great things about his writing! Matter of fact I was planning on reading one of his books in October. This makes me even more excited for it!
Wheel of Time and Malazan are my favorite series of all time, despite their many, many failings... The overall Stories are so engrossing, and as annoying as the characters could get, you remember them for ever ... I travel a whole a lot, but I still feel like I know these worlds better than anywhere i have visited 😊.
ugh! now you make me want to try Odd Thomas for a 3RD time! I've read so many Dean Koontz books and the writing style he chose for Odd Thomas was so different from what he normally does that it really turned me off. Maybe I wasn't being fair or open minded enough? I did like the movie. I love the idea of it, that's for sure. I might have to put it back on the TBR. BTW, I'm impressed with what you got read last month considering how busy you were. I only had one book on my list and I didn't finish it. Though it is an 800 page book.
Hahah you know, you don't have to really force yourself to read anything that doesn't work for you. I can see how you could not enjoy the writing style even though I kind of loved it. It just works for me but that doesn't make it universally comfortable for everyone. I am impressed it actually worked out so well too, to be honest. I think the end of the month was so crappy, that I was trying to sort of escape into the books maybe. Which is funny, because what was happening in these books was astronomically worse :)) Which book were you reading?
@@libraryunbounded I'm sorry to hear you had a crappy end of the month. At least it's the beginning of a new one. Turn the page if you can. I wish the best for you. As for what I'm reading, I am reading Wanderers, by Chuck Wendig. I probably would have DNF it but I'm so far into it at this point that I feel I need to finish it. Chuck Wendig is a good writer. He understands how to tell a story. His characters feel real and his settings are well thought out. My biggest gripe with him is that he puts his personal politics into it way too much. It's okay to "have" politics in a story or a character who is very political. But where a writer crosses the line is when he narrates his beliefs instead of keeping it on the characters. Telling you things that are a matter of fact as far as the writer is concerned but which the reader knows not to be true. I don't like when writers do that. It takes me out of the story. That's one of the problems with American entertainment right now, it's tainted a lot of writers. I personally think they should rise above it and stay true to the characters and settings, or their novels will be fade to memory like our current political climate eventually will. It's okay to be influenced by it but don't let it overwhelm your story.
