He is a fucking amazing artist who has done so much for the industry and im a comic book artist. Only artist are allowed to judge other artists skills. You dont have to like his style. Thats completely alright and you dont need to like him but he has been on of the most influential artist in the business and he also created some of the most amazing characters in comics without him we wouldn't have Dove, Cable, Deadpool, Shatterstar, Griffter any of them. I love him as an artist and he's an amazing dude who is still doing really great work today
This brought me back! Thanks for making this. I recently pulled out the Prophet run. Read through it and realized I didn't get the 2nd volume for some reason. Looking forward to the Prophet and Soul Saga videos!
I watched another video and it explained that DC cancelled all of Jack's Fourth World books, all at the same time. So yes, you could say that DC soured on what Jack was doing. The video said that Jack was understandably devastated. I guess he manned up though. These days you would think someone might become suicidal. Imagine having your life's work, your art, your thoughts, your ideas, being cancelled. Of course, Leftists do this now every day like breathing. And yes, I'm saying something political because it's true. If they don't like your thoughts, your words, your ideas, your version of reality, they will condemn you as racist, misogynistic, xenophobic, homophobic, anti-trans, a nationalist, a white supremacist, anti-women, the war on women, slut shaming, fat shaming, alt right MAGA Extremist, Conspiracy Theorist, Anti-Science, Anti-Vax, No Human is Illegal, Open borders, Anti-Semitism, Anti- Free Speech, and on and on. The Left will cancel you in a heartbeat. Look at what they have done to comic book heroes. Replace all the white males with females, or black character. My Sgt Fury is White. My Sgt Fury didn't have his eye scratched out by a house cat. Iceman is gay. Jonathan Kent Superman is gay. The Rawhide Kid had a run where he was gay. Robin is gay. And on and on. So the Left will rewrite who you are. It's deliberate. Thor is a woman. Hawkeye is a woman. The boy from Devil Dinosaur became Moon Girl. Iron Man is Iron Heart/Riri Williams. Honestly, I only know these things from watching videos. I wouldn't spend my money on this desecration of characters and the art form. And they KILLED Captain Marvel. Then he became a she: Monica Lambeau. I haven't read that run but I think she looked kind of hot and cool. Then the black girl was replaced and we got Carol Danvers. Yes, I don't know what I'm talking about really because I've never read the books. I do know that Carol Danvers Captain Marvel has been canceled and rebooted several times, this according to Richard Meyer at Comics Matter with ya Boi Zack.
The contents say, The New Gods (Reprint Series 1-6). I just looked this up on Ebay. The New Gods went to 11 issues. The "Reprint Series" only went to six issues and they have different covers on each of the six books. So, that seems like a big deal. Why were five issues of the New Gods left out? I have the tpb of the New Gods, so I guess I have what is missing. The ordering of the books coming out each month and year in the Omni just made me put the book down. I can't jump from book to book New Gods, Mister Miracle, etc. And I really unaware of what The Hunger Dogs were/are.
Apparently, this Ominibus was also released as FOUR separate hardcover books. That's how freaking BIG this book really is. Beyond ordering the book and putting it on the shelf, I haven't tried to read it. I just bought it because it is Jack's work. I bought Omac, Mr Miracle, The Forever People, The Demon in hardcover, the others in tpb.
Your book has a couple of imperfections. There is a faded splotch over Jack Kirby's head. 5:11 As you turn the book around, there is a faded area, a line about 5/8" across the book. It's on the character's forehead, in the blue. Just noting that those are either areas missing some sealer wax clear, or a print imperfections. It might just be the clear missed those areas. The spot over Jack's logo could have been done by a thumb or a finger. Maybe the clear wasn't completely dry. Anyway, I have the book too. Those books are nice to have but I buy the smaller books that went into the omni. The books aren't too practical when it comes to trying to read them. If you want to sit at a big table in a chair to read them, then that would work. But try to hold that book or prop it up with pillows in a chair is a chore. I feel the same way about other omnis.
Darkseid is one of the great characters Kirby did at DC but so are ORION, KALIBAK, HIGHFATHER, MISTER MIRACLE, BIG BARDA, KAMANDI, and THE DEMON! All of them are just fantastic! Can't believe DC/WB hasn't brought them to the big screen really?!
I'm trying to figure out the name of a comic I read about a guy with a cat. He can use the car for all kinds of weapons. I'm having a hard time finding it. Any ideas?
Not only do you have more comics in one package with omnibuses and tpb’s, they are much more durable than single issues. Comics in a hard cover is just so beautiful to me as well lol. Love it
I tried to get into the darkness but couldn’t get passed jack’s douchey character lol, just was not motivated at all to see what he would end up doing because his personality and character just wasn’t it for me. I did love the games though! The darkness 1 is an all time classic and definitely my favorite of the two. 2 was more fun but the story didn’t hit as hard as the first and was less memorable imo. Have been reading witchblade and i’m liking it pretty well through the 7 issues i’ve read so far. Also got the cyber force hard cover anniversary edition and can’t wait to get into that series from silvestri, probably my favorite looking series from him. I’m new to comics and I have way too much to get into lol.
Good video, and one I think is therapeutic to watch even if you're not into comics. I'm occasionally tempted to "buy back" my childhood - various toys and action figures I remember and might want to store somewhere, maybe even dreams about giving it to a future son or daughter, but money's tight enough as it is nowadays. It ends up being, like you said, a weight on you. It's often the aspect of time, especially on eBay, that gets me to click on that bid button even when it's not appropriate that I spend that money on that thing at this point in my life, and yet you feel you might never get the chance again, especially if it's in really nice condition. It's not an easy decision NOT to bid, but this video definitely helped clear my mind and realize I'm better off. Maybe I'll indulge a bit in the future, but it'll have to be just one or two really special things. It's good to remember that the things end up owning you in a way when you have boxes and boxes of just "stuff", you almost forget why you got them in the first place. What is it about Batman I even like? Might as well rewatch Batman TAS and remind myself. You get a lot more out of doing that than making your living space look like a store full of products.
the ribbon doesnt mean its sewn binding not glued thats just a decorative header ribbon, i didnt see any signatures which are the groups of pages that get sewn
Tried to do this, waited 3 days, came right off. Assuming I didn't apply the glue correclty something since I got the exact glue and same comic to fix.
You're the Bob Ross of omni repair! Don't need this at the moment, but I just got a Batgirl Bronze Age that feels really loose compaired to all my other DC books.
You know, I’m not about to defend Rob Liefield as being the best comics artist or anything, but nothing he said here is wrong. So, I guess if this clip proves anything, Rob Liefield is a better dad than he is a comics artist
i always say: Stan “The man” Lee will always be that, “The man”. He’s cool, he’s funny, and he’s nice to be around. And while he might be a bit grumpy and a less charismatic than Stan, Jack will always be the King of Comics.
I unwrap my berserk and the last 3 pages that are glossy for the covers and as a comic reader in stretched out and relaxed the spine and it flap out fast its sill on there but it goes Beyond The gutter loss what do I do 🤔 if anyone got an answer
Hello, cool unboxing :) do you know when you will release another (vol 3) darkness on ks? and Witchblade vol 3? still this year there is a chance? it takes a while to get to know the whole story at such a release time. Greetings from Poland:)
I backed the lower tier for this campaign, so I missed out on the #1/2 issue but you held it open long enough to see my name. Lol. I never really got into the Top Cow universe, but I will now. That Cyberforce KS looks really good.
Glad to see some new content from you Gabe! I haven't read The Darkness in like over 15 years but the Silvestri art and the fact that the main dude couldn't have sex or he'd die always stuck with me hahaha! Awesome books.
