If you're going to be a welder at a shipyard, don't be a hull welder. Trust me, don't do it. I've done hull welding for a month and a half, quit that to become a pipe welder apprentice at the shipyard instead. I would quit if they ever put me back into being a hull welder.
He still had to put in the work and proof of ability to get to where he is at least. The same cannot be said of all these women flooding social media who showed basic wrenching or even pretending to wrench on their cars and end up getting their own TV shows and capital to open up their own shops.

So now we know we have all been feeding these peoples drug and hooker habits. When the cash ran out theyvwant you to opt for mental health in order to continue to pay for the lifestyles they most likely arent going to be giving up.
That remark about respecting your work like it has a soul makes me really want to see a horror movie about a creature designer who puts so much heart and soul into his work that it comes to life and starts killing people.
New shipyard welder here, take care of yourselves, something there where i work at is causing me to break out in horrendous rashes. Either some metal powder reaction or a bad reaction to the paint/coating. Otherwise it's a cool job 💪🏻💯
I tend to consider if the job posting has "OUTSTANDING verbal and team collaboration skills" listed at the very TOP of the requirements or at the bottom. If it's near the bottom, that's a GOOD SIGN. I don't know how I feel about the roles wanting verbal skills taking precedence over all the tech skills haha - plus I hate working in groups the entire time, can't get any real coding done. If the position features 50%+ meetings every week, I'm out. If most meetings are over 1.5 hours, I'm out. These positions need to conduct a personality test requiring genetic extroversion that is most productive with groups. Roles need to realistically be designed and organized around extroversion, ambiversion, and introversion or you get burnout. Some companies push that everyone has the same personality - not true and also holds back the economy.
The word auto tech is so demeaning. Thats what express oil change calls there hood techs. ASE Certified front line master mechanic sounds better . Mechanic for short.
My experience as a software developer with ASD is that neurotypical developers often tackle a problem directly without needing to know all the details. This is the opposite to how I approach things, as someone with ASD. I look at the individual parts and put them together into a model - which I know the purpose of. In a work environment, I desire clear goals. This is even more important when working as a team. When being in a team I want people around me that I can trust and feel safe with. Not people who just work towards completing tasks.
