Thanks!! I probably prefer the X-H2s for video and the S5IIX for photography. I missed full frame with the X-H2s and so the LUMIX (in my opinion and for how I like to shoot) is better for photography. The LUMIX S series are grand! I’ve been using them a lot. Maybe a little bit of CA wide open but it’s not a huge issue. I sold the XF 33mm f1.4 in favour for the cheaper 35mm f2 for my X-T4 for photography. Hope this helps, any specific Q’s let me know!
I just yesterday went to a resale shop, and picked up an old Polaroid 100 pack film camera case with a polaroid 100 with still film in it, a Kodak Instamatic 126 film camera, and an Olympus XA with flash…. All for $29.90 US. Had never heard of the XA… but boy do I love it! Thanks
Cool video, I love my Rokkors too! A good tip to find bargains is to keep an eye on local ads for old Minolta SLRs, most come with a common kit lens (usually 50mm f/1.7) but sometimes you can get a bunch of awesome lenses with them for peanuts when the seller thinks he's clearing the attic of old junk.. Once I bought an SRT 101 with MC 28mm F/2.0, MD 135mm f/2.8 and MD zoom 35-70mm f/3.5 macro for less than £100
@@rossandhisjpegs By the way, the 35-70mm f/3.5 is VERY good, I would say even as good as some prime lenses. At first I didn't even try it but when I did, I was impressed by the results! So I looked online for some info and it turns out that lots of people are praising this lens, it was even rebranded by Leica for their line-up.
I have so many good vintage lenses. Takumars M42, Konica, Canon, Nikon, Minolta, Russian Mir, etc. They all work awesome on my XT-1. I love how the colors are rendered. The colors really show that vintage look.
just got myself an X100 and been looking for a recipe to try and this video has been helpful as a starting point! definitely giving them a try, thank you!
Хорошее видео, автор молодец! Спасибо за паттерн настроек на пасмурный день) У нас наоборот преимущественно солнечно. А камера вообще классная, правда у меня х100s.
I just bought the Minolta SRT 101 with the 55mm f1.7, you convinced me to buy an adapter for my Fuji XT4, and invest later in old lenses ! Thank you so much , really nice video :)
Man. Thanks and congratulations. I've been roaming on the internet for a while and this is easily my favourite collection of recipes. Much more compelling than most others. The fact that the photos are pretty good also helps project ourselves in a real use context!
Not the point of the video, but I really like the crop at 7:50. The bushes are out of focus, so in my mind clearly meant just as a framing device for the plane. Cropping in preserves that effect while giving the appropriate amount of space to your (quite small!) subject. Just my two cents!
Omg... Love your enthousiam when you talk about the camera. Makes it way nicer to watch a video getting a good mood. I am sooo in doubt as I have a Fuji XT 3 with 6 lenses but this camera looks like a huge step up. Thanks for your video and a big 👍
When I made this video I thought I had an adapted battery solution, but when I checked it was actually one of the mercury ones that came with the camera when I bought it. All recommendations for battery replacements welcome on my end too :)
I owned the X100, X100F & X100V and sold them all, but wish I would have kept the original X100... It 's such a great camera and the images I took with it are amongst my fav. If you find one now the prices are just stupid...
Nah, it’s super cute! I had one, sold it, and bought a new one a few months back. I am enjoying it, but I’m also looking at picking up a minolta CLE… 😅
@@rossandhisjpegs I’ve also been… underwhelmed by battery life. I understood the first one dying because I left it “on”, but the second one I tried to turn the meter “off” by putting it on a non-A value of the Aperture ring, but it still seemed like it chewed through the battery. 🤷♂️ at least it’s mechanical, so I can use it even without a battery. 😸
I've recently run out of mercury PX625 and tried other kinds in my Canonet QL17 G-III. It turned out, the Canonet is quite finicky when it comes to voltage. Whatever you use as a replacement, make sure it's 1.35V or your metering will be off by a lot!
You can get them updated too. It's a matter of adding a diode to the battery circuit but I had mine done professionally and now she takes 1.55v silver batteries and lasts forever, I've only changed it preemptively
I had one and put white leather on it. I sold it and missed it until i found an olympus 35rc. I like the olympus a bit more despite the slower aperture
Not a stupid question. If you shoot RAW images you can bring them into FUJI X RAW Studio on your computer, plug in your camera and add whatever recipe you like onto the RAW image. It’s kind of a backwards way of doing things but good to have.
I've just bought a olympus ax it hasn't arrived yet, but I'm truly excited I've owned the xa3 regret selling it. But I've also just bought an xa2, I've got black and white in, and black and white is going in the xa when it arrives
I still love my X100 original. It takes the best flash shots indoors with the shutter @ 1/125. It just gets the colors right. I will admit i am in love with my X-E1 a bit more right now
Really fun video Ross. Your love of photography really comes through. I shoot on Fujifilm XE2. I kind of fell into to Minolta MC/MD when I purchased a Sigma 135 for Minolta MD from Goodwill (a charity thrift store in the US) for $15. I ended up buying a different version of the MC 28mm 3.5 from a Japanese shop on EBay for around $50. This is most fun lens that I own with the click apertures, a big circular hood and distance markings in ft/m. I also bought MD 45mm2.0 on EBay for $30. I like picture quality but the aperture ring is very sticky. I guess the lesson learned here is that you get what you pay for and it can be hit or miss going too cheap.
Couldn't agree more with the sentiments already expressed in the comments. By far the most interesting and helpful video about recipes. Taking us through real time why you made your changes helped me understand what you were looking for and how you chose to respond to things you were seeing. THANKS!
My second favorite film after Superia 800. This film gives that 90s nostalgic look. This is what lots of family photos were shot on in the 90s! I am intrigued by your take on the film simulation of this! The current film sim of it I use is from FujiX weekly, and yours is different! I gotta try!
@@rossandhisjpegs intriguing results! Trying this indoors, when I switched to auto WB, it looks great 👍 I'd be curious how it does under actual sunlight! Compared to the Fuji weekly sim: yours adds more warmth to the whites 😉 (when I set yours to auto WB) With Auto WB, this is a great warmer alternative for my tastes! I'm now curious how It will do outdoors, as the above analysis was done indoors! Cheers from 🇺🇲
7:02 Kentmore Pan 400 has been my favorite B&W film sim and your Salted Slate recipe is peaking my interest! Very good job with that one! It should be said, your naming convention is an art form on its own! Cheers from USA
