Welcome to the Synthetic History Channel, where I talk about events that didn't happen as if they did, using Paradox Interactive games (Hearts of Iron, Victoria, Europa Universalis, etc.) as a storytelling tools.
What about making an episode of China becoming Orthodox. Eventually the Manchu unify and threaten Qing, but Russia stepped in and helped ming but in exchange started spreading and supporting the Orthodox faith in China
do a short video about the conquest of the northern islands Hokkaido and Sakhalin you need to give the Army something to do while you're waiting to invade Korea😉
I watched this video and it was very good. You understood Napoleon III well. He is a complex man and he is not a bad leader, nor the best. But the black legend tends to greatly diminish it. The coup d'état (the first) was expected because the Second Republic had no means of resolving a blockage by the president or Parliament. I'm hoping for a sequel because I must admit that a sequel could be very nice. I think, personally, that Napoleon IV could keep his throne, the monarchy is still seen as a normal mode of government in Europe in the 19th century and until the 1st world war, the majority of European countries are monarchies. A ruler, even with little power, is still useful as a symbol.
Want to watch this video but honestly, the accent is...difficult, and makes it where I have to rewind and cut on captions. You should try to get a narrator.
I could see an alternative route (though probably not possible in game), if creating a second Rome by ceding some land to the Papal State so that Japan could become the center of Catholic authority in Asia.
16:24 I think it's important to note despite being in the name, National Socialism was and is definitely NOT leftist. They saw Marxism as a plot created by the Jews to corrupt the world and often worked with capitalists and enterprise, creating a cabal of cliques similar to the Japanese 'Zaibatsu' corporations. Nazi Germany did have things like labor unions, however they were extremely restrictive and always answered to the state, which is true of everything in Germany at the time. The means of production were not owned by workers, but the state. National Socialism was just that, national. It took everything for the power of the state. the Fuhrer, and in name, the 'German people,' however it was not for their liberation from class oppression but rather to subject them to the whims of the state. The German people were a mere cog in the messy and disgusting web of National Socialism.
I would love to see this series continued in EU4 or Victoria 3, possibly modded with a converter or at least altered to create the Christian Shogunate? Either way, great storytelling and use of real history, it was super engaging.
It will always amaze me that the Dutch were SO SALTY that the Papacy was still going strong in spite of the pr*testant reformation that they aided in the persecution of Christians by the shogunate solely so that the Church wouldn't be credited with the evangelization of Japan.
"Tojo sir, were winning on every front!" Tojo: "Good. Begin war with British Malaysia." "Bu-but sir, that will put as at war with...everyone!" Tojo: "Eh, I think it be funny."
This is amazing, Mr. Synthist. I really like the idea of Japan becoming an East Asian Christian country, and this deserves a part two, where an earlier united Japan under the Otomo Shogunate conquered the declining Ming China along with Korea and replaced the Heaven Mandate by making the Emperor of Japan the new Emperor of China.
I always loved the idea of Japan becoming Christian not because I believe in it but as someone who studies religion my favorite part is how religions adapt to new cultures and incorporate ideas from both sides
Similar of how Japan became Buddhist. Lot of compromises and build into local folklore, but I wouldn't be surprised if a localization to japanese needs simply dwells into henotheism, like indian christians and jews.
We had the underground japanese christians and south korea is basically a christian nation, if you exclude the non-religious which are the majority. Results: weird ass cults (like the unification church), total destruction of any form of orthodoxy and paganic stuff being incorporated on a daily basis. Not a big fan of religious syncretisms or huge reformations, even if they are fascinating
